This is the first time I've seen hydrating the straw with water and dish soap
i now frequently use straw and hay as a substrate, and many times i used large trashbags and inoculated with a syringe, but was just wondering if spore prints would be just as effective on laundry basket type culturing?
after you soak the straw in the water with soap, are you going to wash it first to remove the soap before you steam the straw.?? and after steaming how long will you rinse the straw or how will you check if the moisture of the straw is enough for the mushrooms???

is there some one i can talk to who can help with the rye seed tek? im wondering about grain to grain transfers and the signifigance of gas exchange.

DO I mix what's in the syringe with the grain berries for colonization??

I'm curious whether or not people use newspaper to grow culinary mushrooms like Swiss Brown? This is a good thing in the city as substrates that you have to pay for aren't really worth it.

lol no you cant use perlite. vermiculite can be found at lowes, home depot, and most all plant stores or greenhouses.

Caps hold most of it. 10 grams wet=1 gram dry
$90 for 10lbs is nice. I don't even want to figure out how much money one would reap with 10lbs of cube.
