I sent this to my emotionally stunted dad who replied “You’ve made an old codger cry” RIP Warren Zevon
I've listened so many times. Here's to more. Thanks Waren, thanks Dawes.
Thanks Philipp.
Thanks Michael
An absolutely amazing song. I came to TH-cam to find Zevon and found this. I’m happy I did. These fellas did a great job. He’d be proud. 👍🏻👍🏻
I’m glad they kept the story from Letterman in the clip. Amazing thing to share. Really tears at the heartstrings.
he would be. This is amazing
@@CitationZacAbsolutely it does!
We miss you Warren
Good on ya guysI didn't know that bit at the end, Dave
That part about Warren Zevon and the guitar always makes me tear up.
Lennon and Zevon are the two I miss the most.
This is great..thanks for posting this gem
Such a great performance... Loved Zevon.
Damn this is so good
Yes. It is so loyal to the original. Well done.
They also do LG&M live too.
Duane Betts, Dickey's son, playing guitar, as well
Wish they still allowed Dave’s intro and outro, along with Paul’s solo to start the song.
is that a Danny Gatton Signature Telecaster that Dawes plays? Danny was the true master of the Telecaster, and a humble genuine musician, like Warren Zevon!
They nailed it!
Does a great job with respect
Was this part of a Zevon tribute night or an anniversary of something?
This was from Letterman's last show before retirement. Zevon was a frequent guest and friend of Dave's, and he came in for a (beautiful) tribute here.
@@TroyBaugh-wu7ek Oh I remember all the Zevon appearances. His last was a heartbreaker. Funny, I don’t remember this on the last show though.
@@JohnnyWoodardIt was his final week, not the last show
@@vc27rAh thanks. Makes sense.
💖beautiful fellas 💖
Can someone tell me what kind of bass the bassist is playing?
Wylie Gelber plays a Model 2 bass, which he made himself.
@@geneobrien8907 thanks that’s a cool looking bass
Love this
Helluva cover,,,kudos
They cut Dave's part of it out. What a shitty thing to do.
What a shitty thing to do. Imagine that.
When did this air?
Spring 2015 during the final month of The Late Show with David Letterman
