    For anyone debating if this watch is worth it or not, I can tell you this : it is definitely worth every penny.
    Yes, there are other options out there, for cheaper, but they don't hit as high as this Conquest does. I own the 39mm, blue dial variant, and it is amazing. Above any Tissot, Certina, Hamilton, Seiko in the price range. Above some of them slightly, above some of them by miles.
    The appearance is something you either like, or you don't. It is not perfect by any means, and there are certain aspects of this watch that could be improved ( that might be better on other options ) , but as an overall package, this watch is incredible.
    If I would have to choose one watch to keep from my entire collection, this would be the one. If you prefer a Tissot or a Seiko above this, that is just as fine, but you have to acknowledge the incredible value this watch brings.
    Also, seeing this in person, and trying it on, might help steer you in the right direction.

    I’ve seen the VHP mentioned…and I’m going to mention it again. I know quartz tends to be frowned on by watch snobs, but it is a special precise movement and it’s got some cool tricks for those of us that travel often. Also I think there’s something nice about having at least one watch in your collection that you are never worried about winding/power reserve

    • @camels3269
      @camels3269 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I would buy the VHP in a heartbeat if it didn't only have 50m of water resistance. For a watch that is otherwise ideal for travelling 50m is simply not enough and for some reason they even proudly put it on the dial. Such a wasted opportunity.

      Quartz isn't frowned upon by me. I picked up a new 39mm Hydroconquest quartz for $700. I actually prefer the quartz in this size because it is about 2mm thinner. This is my grab-n-go daily beater. I have a mix of quartz and autos. To me, the Conquest/Hydro value is in the quartz versions. You get the same quality at a much better price.

    Teddy, first, love your videos and everything you do to raise watch awareness. I've got a recommendation. I watch Auto Mundial. They do reviews on European Cars. But one thing I really like, is after reviewing a vehicle, they give a very short look at two competitors. When you review a single watch like above, it would be great for you to briefly mention two or more other brands/watches that would be competitive. I love learning about other brands and this could help to expand our brand awareness. Thanks.

  • @uhrologe2596

    You are the best in timing of reviews 🤗
    I've just checked the conquest at the jewelery. What's also interesting: the Conquest is available in 43, 41 or 39 mm. Which is actually great because of my small wrist size and a lack of sub 40 mm watches.
    But actually the price and vallue is not that satisfying. The competitor Tissot Gentleman from the same Swatch Family look similiar in design but with silicon, 80 hrs power reserve, with lumina and around 20% cheaper.
    I think a direct comparing of these competiting sister models would be very interesting.

  • @jmartinky
    @jmartinky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +38

    Thank you for pointing out the difference in the colorways. It is beyond me why a brand like Longines would apply in one and print in another. I would definitely lean toward the blue dial for that reason. Also, had been thinking about a Tissot Gentleman, but I think I'd rather stretch the budget just a little bit further and pick up another Longines.

    • @jericocalzado
      @jericocalzado 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there is quite a good argument in favor of the print, considering the overall design. Initially I also thought the applied indices would make the watch look more premium. But the dial design which appears to be large despite the 39mm diameter, mainly due to the size of the arabics coupled with the high contrast, the applied indices made it look like a little bit over the top and in your face. The print in the black version actually refines the overall look.

    • @ciresolstice
      @ciresolstice 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jericocalzado I felt the same way , but I read so many comments about painted indices being/looking cheap compared to applied. All the while, there are plenty of great watchmakers and dials that have painted indices or numerals, IWC, Sinn, Omega, and many others. I think it just depends on the execution/style etc.

    I have previously made a comment on Teddy's excellent clip but wanted to add the following-just incase it may be of value to any of you guys out there. So, I ended up buying one of these last week...and I couldn't be happier with it. While not exactly cheap, it is absolutely top notch for the money and is the perfect blend of dress and sporty. While I don't see many of us hitting 300m of depth...it says a great deal about the build quality of this excellent timepiece. Just note though fellas...it does wear 'biggish'. If you're unsure about the 39 or 41mm; go for the 39. Secondly, I was going to go for the blue as I have a lot of black and white faced pieces, but...'in person', it looks much lighter than on screen-so do bear in mind if ordering direct from the our our good man Teddy here ;)
    Bottom line however... Extremely happy with it! It looks, feels...and is...a super piece.

    Nice video Teddy. I have a 41mm black dial. It has a beautiful case with nice sloping lugs, beautiful case back, clean and legible dial, lovely hand set and date display. The bracelet is gorgeous and slopes nicely to hug the wrist and the butterfly clasp also looks wonderful. The 300 metre water resistance in great. Not a lot to complain about in its presentation or aesthetics not to mention the accuracy of this movement is the best I have experienced ever. But here is the dark side of this piece. The fact that the clasp has no micro adjustment is not good. It's either a little large or a little tight. Never perfect and it weighs a bit more because a couple of extra solid links weigh more than you average clasp. The crown could be a bit shorter as it does occasionally dig into your hand. Just totally unecessary, seeing that it is also a heavy piece at about 170 grams on a 7 inch wrist fit. The lume is a joke and I don't know why they even advertise it on the black dial and the markers are printed which is so poor. The blue has applied markers but with no lume at all. It does astonish me as to why such a huge company is so close to getting it right but yet so far. Not overly expensive and a great look ing piece but certainly far from great. Fit it and wear it, try before you buy.

    Full confession... I recently got a Longines... But in a unheard-of twist, it's a Conquest VHP... After what seems like 20 years of wanting one... My first Longines is a Quartz!!! 😲
    Didn't really have much choice though. It was a direct trade for an Alpina. My first such trade and it went so smoothly.
    As for Longines, I like a lot of the Heritage stuff but I've really had my eye on the actual HydroConquest. I guess divers are my thing. But the Bezel must have the 15, 30, 45 and not 10, 20, 30 (etc)... The only pieces I like far beyond Longines in this entryway are many offerings from Breitling. Superocean and Superocean Heritage top among those. But hey. Those are more expensive. 😀

I've had mine for 1 year now and it does gain a little time (under 1 second a month) but it's otherwise completely reliable, fun to operate and it's the go-to watch if you want to know THE correct time, as opposed to approximate time. The case-back is stunning! Look out for the 3am 'dance' every 3 days.

    I have the 43mm in Quartz (MSRP around $700?). It's such a great watch. It has refined design aspects, but can perform as a very capable field watch. It's a sleeper that inserts a legacy name in your collection without significantly adding to the aggregate maintenance outlay (quartz, again); you get to save your money for those Rolex/Tudor/Omega rebuilds (ouch). Put it on a high quality NATO strap and your on your way. Thanks for the review.

    I’m very interested in getting the Conquest as my first luxury watch, but was wondering how it compares to the Sinn 556I. Around this price the Sinn seems a universally well-reputed piece, although I personally prefer the more sporty look and the added water resistance of the Longines. Does the Sinn have a mechanical or other advantage over the Conquest that someone like me who is relatively new to this tier of watches may be unaware of? Would something I’m not realising now make me wish down the road that I had gone for the Sinn?

    • @vintagedigital108

      Longines (Swatch Group) have antimagnetic hairsprings for everyday use. You might wanna consider that since you’re constantly dealing with electrical and electronic devices. Sinn have better lug width at 20mm if you like to change strap.
