    As an added note for those of you curious about the new Conquest 2023, the dial pulls design inspiration from the 1954 Conquest model while creating a sleek and modern look. The movement has also seen an upgrade featuring improved magnetism to combat the negative effects on timekeeping that encounters with magnetic objects can cause. What do you think of the updated everyday watch?

      It’s a good step in the right direction, but I’m amazed by how many watches you’ve reviewed on the channel that come up so short on lume. The fact that watches $1,500 cheaper than this are going to be more legible in low-light conditions makes me question the value here, as well as any luxury timepiece that appears to phone it in when applying SuperLuminova. Do you have any insight as to why brands don’t go the extra mile here, especially with their “everyday” offerings? Love your channel!

      I really like this new version and impressed with Longines in general with the quality. Picked up a preowend Conquest VHP non gmt quartz last year and have been very pleased with it as my daily, I believe it's 41mm as well. The new Conquest line looks more classy in my opinion and as far as the lume, I think it suits the design well. Reminded me of the lume on my sarb033, subtle and classy. Always appreciate your videos on Longines as well as other brands! Cheers

      @LRSTGS 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +39

      I share that opinion. 34mm is too small for most men, (I have a tiny six and a quarter inch wrist and it's too small for me), so the 34mm is likely only going to sell to women, which is a tiny market. Somewhere inbetween, such as a 38mm would be a much more appealing size to a wider customer base. I suspect they'll sell hardly any 34mm, and would sell significantly more 38mm. Offering a larger size as they have is a great move, there are lots of large wrists in America, increasingly elsewhere too. They've just picked the wrong size for the smaller version. In my opinion.

    • @Tunnelsnakes
      @Tunnelsnakes 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      Forgot to mention, would you be able to consider including in your case measurements and display of the watches you review on the wrist, the width of the wrist the watch is being displayed upon. This will give viewers a greater level of understanding as to the proportions and sizing of the watch relative to the wrist which will help us figure out how the watch will wear on our own wrists. Cheers.

      That's actually a very good point that could be added to Teddy's overall stats. I have the older model Conquest, identical to the one Teddy shows in this video. The "ridiculous 300 meters of water resistance" was actually my reason for buying that watch. I liked the idea that a handsome everyday watch that I could wear on most all occasions was also as super-tough as a dive watch without the bezel style. I wanted a watch that I need not worry about on any occasion - even to the point of being ridiculous. The new Conquest seems to give up that butch flavor without substantially reducing the thickness, and now looks like a generic clone-ette of the new colorful Omega Aquaterras. All at a lower price than the equivalent Omegas, but at a substantially higher price than the Conquest model it replaces.

    I have owned the 41mm blue version of this watch for 2 weeks now and I think it is amazing. The blue sunburst dial is stunning; the bracelet is light and very comfortable; and the movement is great - my watched has gained 9 seconds after 14 days which is well within COSC. As noted by Teddy and several commenters, the issue with this watch is the 41mm size. I have a 7-inch wrist and I think it fits me just fine, although I wish the lug to lug of 49mm was a bit shorter. My sweet spot is 39-40mm, so this is a tad larger than I prefer. But this is a modern sport watch, not a vintage inspired piece, so I think Longines designed it to wear large. If they come out with a 39mm version then I might consider swapping it, but given the styling I think anything less than that will just not look right on my wrist.

    I got to try on the new blue 41mm Conquest the other day. It really is a nice wearing watch, and a big step up in design and refinement over the previous version. The way the ring around the dial plays with light is a unique touch too. This is definitely a more affordable Aqua Terra type GADA watch. I think it really competes with watches like the TAG Heuer Carrera 3 hand though. This seems like a better offering for 2/3 the money of the TAG. I do think it would be a good idea to come out with a 38.5 or so version at some point, but the lugs on this one are not really long like on the Spirit, so I think the 41 can fit quite a variety of wrist sizes. More lume would be nice, but I could see that compromising some of the design. At least they HAVE lume, unlike some Grand Seiko sport models that should have it yet do not.

But again, I'm baffled! This time by the sizes among other things! Love the case and bracelet design, but I generally don't dig a 41mm or a 34mm case size. 38 to 40 for me is best. Glad there's lume on the hands and indices...but wish there was more on both. Maybe slightly bigger indices, and a bigger wedge of lume on the hands. And couldn't they have given this 150m of WR? And the bracelet update was a badly needed improvement. However, I think I would still take the 2022 version. I like the quirky styling. With its comically large crown guard, oversized Arabic numbers, it was wonderfully weird. Now, it's styling is safe, comforting and boring. Of course, I do like being able to see the movement. I really liked all the improvements except for that step from the minute ring to the main dial. I can't really say why other than it bothers me. I do think everything else was an improvement though. Since I picked up a VHP Conquest recently, the Spirit is on my list next. This one, I will keep an eye on.

    Thank you for this video. I was waiting to see the close ups on the finishes and your take on the watch. Longines is killing it with their releases. The only thing that Longines should've done is match the color of the date wheel across the colorways. They only did it for black and navy dials (not a deal breaker for me). I would buy this watch but, I acquired a Carrera Glassbox after watching your video about it.

    I love Longines, by far my favourite watch brand. I don't know what it is, it's low profile and elegant, it's luxury yet good value, it's flashy but still classy. I love their watches.
    My parents recently brought me back a 41 mm Hydroconquest from their vacation to Zermatt Switzerland and it has not left my wrist, and I have a Tudor also FYI.
    If you're looking to enter into the luxury watch world this is the pick. Thank me later.

    I love this update! I was not a huge fan of the Arabic numerals at 12 and 6; I think these new indices are much more undestated. At the same time, the inner ring on the dial and 6 o'clock date window are a subtle design affectations that separate it from any Oyster Perpetual comparisons.

  • @jlich17
    @jlich17 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm surprised no one else is making mention of the outer circle that lies amongst the indices. It's actually a variation of the original concentric circle that Longines used on the ones from the 50's. This one checks all of the boxes, simple design, great indices, clean, dressy and versatile. Home run for sure.

    top notch as always, Teddy! could you also cover Longines' new Hydroconquest GMT release? it looked stunning in the presentation and I for one am really curious if it wears smaller than 41mm, given its thick bezel. Keep up the good work!

    Great video. I think the price of this watch will increase sooner or later. It’s just a beautiful watch and looks sporty and classic at the same time. It really attacks Tudor and to some extent even the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra which is very expensive. The blue color of the dial of this Conquest is stunning 🤩 I definitely will buy this watch.

    I like Longines, certainly the trajectory they have been on the last couple of years, and this seems to be another proper release. Love the design and the colours, esp. the green.
    But... 41mm is way too big, 34mm on the small end (at least for a non-vintage watch).
    So I guess this is one for a bit of patience: as soon as they release say a 36, 37 or 38mm version I'll be first in line for a green dial one!

      There's a small but clearly visible dust particle on the inner side of the crystal and a minor dent on the case. Talked to the sales rep about the dust particle and was asked to get it fixed under warranty, but I didn't want the new watch opened.

    I think the new model looks more elegant but the old one had more sport look.
    But considering the price increase I like the old one more, also looks more like a everyday watch compared with the new one.
    I wonder why I haven’t seen more videos about the Longines ULTRA CHRON, seems very competitive with other brands like Tudor.

    Agree there should be 39mm option. My 39mm hydroconquest is perfectly beautiful on my 7" wrist. Longines tends to have longer lug-to-lug than other brands too, which accentuates the need for smaller case diameter.

    Great video. I left this same comment on your instagram post for this watch two weeks ago but here are my thoughts: I was so hyped for this release when it was announced. I was able to try them on and see them in person on Monday and unfortunately I was very dissatisfied. First, 41mm is too big for what I think they're trying to go for and the case shape is off, leading to a disappointing profile. These case dimensions and the lug to lug make it wear bigger than 41mm. Lastly, the bracelet quality wasn't great and it's not wide enough so when it tapers it looks even more out of place and makes the case stand out even more.

    When Spirit was introduced, I thought okay, this is what I've been really looking for. But when Zulu was there, I was like, my god, they are even getting better so quick! However, Longines continued to surprise me, by introducing new hydroconquest GMT and finally this one, new Conquest, easily a best alternative to more expensive steel sports watches. should we wait more for the better one? They are revolutionising so fast in a good direction.

    I am glad I got the previous generation. While the new version is beautiful and something I would love to own, the old one hits the price point for me as well as it fulfilled my explorer love since I will never get my hands on one. In my opinion the old and 2023 are very different watches and probably should have been a different name.

  • @UltraDoug
    @UltraDoug 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    My only issue with the new design is that at a glance it looks just like the Tissot Gentleman (which I own) and the previous dial (using the Arabic numerals) set it apart. I like the overall new design, but should have held onto the Arabic’s in some way.

  • @Anaesdoc

    They did so good with the 37 mm Spirit and 39 mm Spirit Zulu models. Maybe they did not want to create competition between different model lines?
