@@yoster39 The music is pure FM sound, the melodies are really well made and composed and they're atmospheric, but I can see your complaints with how it sounds. Take one thing into account: it sounds just like something you would expect to hear back in the era this game flawlessly emulates, early 16-bit arcade games/SEGA Genesis carts. You can hate the music perfectly, but as someone that has found a soft spot for FM music since he was a child I personally enjoy it a lot, especially the boss themes.
Absolutely spectacular boss and level design. I love the immense difficulty and the grisly, Spanish theme of everything. The Quixote boss was one of my favorites along with the grisly Mendoza boss. Awesome how most of the bosses are tiered as opposed to just being singular fights. Spectacular, spectacular, spectacular game.
Middle Ages Spain was badass. Spain nowadays sucks. At least it's still a pretty decent country to live in, but it's just a disgrace how Spain is treated and talked about today. We once were the kings and now... We're just mere servants of the kings we once used to rule over.

Graphics and mechanics are a fine tribute to Ghosts 'N Goblins, but those synth tracks are a crystal clear homage to the Splatterhouse series, no doubt. Great game . . .

Where has this game been all my life? Why am I just now randomly discovering this on TH-cam of all places? This game is great. It's like Ghost and Ghouls and Castlevania made sweet hot love and Mystic Defender watched resulting in the birth of Maldita Castilla
Still.. I totally agree with the story of this game. No matter how Frightening or Bizarre evil might seem to be, we're all supposed to be as vigilant. Evil is not our Ally. For Nowadays I'd yell out, "For God and Earth." Christ already gave Christianity a way to escape evil and live with God after death. But we throw our lives away for nothing if we don't fight Unselfishly. Take the main character for instance in this game. Arthur entered Hell to make them sorry they messed with humanity. But it's a very Hasty decision when Jesus already conquered Death. He is the only one who can Behead Satan at the end of Armageddon. The Demons are for us to kill if Jesus asks us to charge alongside him. But if we join in, we can watch Satan's Execution happen.... then we'll all live forever from the End of All Evil with All the Nations as brought together under God's Care.
I am SO glad that this game has made its way to the xbox one. Challenge takers make see know this game. It is a wonder that needed to dance with. PS: For Capcom loyalists, please don't talk trash about this game integrity (for obvious motive). Set in horror Kingdom of Castille and Leon. Most of the creatures are influenced from Greek, Western European, and Middle Eastern mythology because of geographic proximity and the fact that Spain was invaded by Moors during Medieval Era. Besides, some of the monsters are from other retro arcade games. Very good game not just a ghost and goblins copycat.

The way this game plays, the controls are so tight and fluid, that for me anyway, it's the best ghouls n ghosts alternative out there. Fantastic game and I keep wishing they'd make a sequel with some new magic and things.. but if they haven't, I am guessing sadly that maybe this one didn't sell well enough. I have double dipped on 3DS and switch for this one, love it.

This game's aesthetic is amazingly detailed. It's one of the few games where I'm not playing some pretentious 8-bit wannabe arthouse indie garbage. This actually looks, sounds and feels like I'm playing a late 80s Sega Genesis/Arcade game. Amazing game.
If you like this so much, you could check out the other games made by "Locomalito" (Maldita Castilla's creator or developer) they have the same level of passion and love as this, from "Gaurodan" "Hydorah" "The Curse of Issyos" "Verminest" and many others

There's no disrespect in calling it what it is. It's a great game with awesome level design, marvelous music, challenging bosses and overall perfect in what it does. But it is also clone.

The fact that Moura has a pentagram and demon face in the background, together with the fact that it resembles the "mouros" word, who conquered south of Iberia, seems very interesting. The spaniards problably tought that the moors were demons indeed.
Cool. The best "retro-style" game i've seen, loyal even in the music instruments and sounds. Many games pretend to be "retro" but they, having 16 or 8 bit graphics, have also a very epic HD orchestrated music which ruins the idea.

There is a version of ghouls n ghosts that you play as the girl character trying to save Arthur it's actually pretty awesome check it out

The fact that Moura has a pentagram and demon face in the background, together with the fact that it resembles the "mouros" word, who conquered south of Iberia, seems very interesting. The spaniards problably tought that the moors were demons indeed.
Cool. The best "retro-style" game i've seen, loyal even in the music instruments and sounds. Many games pretend to be "retro" but they, having 16 or 8 bit graphics, have also a very epic HD orchestrated music which ruins the idea.

Hubo unos cuantos exitos internacionales. Para empezar: Bugaboo (The Flea), Biomechanical Toy que fue una autentica virgeria en los salones recreativos de los 90, Risky Woods que salio para la Mega Drive por no hablar de la saga Commandos. Hay mucho nivel, pero poca produccion.
Castlevania Lords of Shadow 1 y 2 hecho casi en su totalidad por españoles, la mayoría catalanes. De mis juegos favoritos.
Makim Por no hablar de Blasphemous, juegazo hecho en Sevilla, toda la saga nueva de Castlevania, etc.
Arturo Valdemar ambos son basura, a diferencia del juego de este video
Si, y no hablemos de FurFun hecho por el legendario español Dalas, de mis títulos indies favoritos...

My impression of this? Ghosts 'N' Goblins In Spain...on Steroids! The Quixote boss was awesome, especially. Also liked that the last boss was pretty much the...anti-Sacred Heart!

+Marcus blazkowicz Actually, the red demons are called "Red Arremer", "Firebrand" is the original Red Arremer who starred in his own series, Demon's Crest and Gargoyle's Quest, and never actually appeared in G'n'G... but then UMVC3 came out and featured a random Red Arremer that was named "Firebrand" (and even SVC Chaos got it right) who barely had any moves the real Firebrand has >W
