This is one of the things I admire about you, Chris. You don't sit on your pockets waiting but dig right in and help. The neat part is you figuring out how to work all that heavy equipment. And you laugh about being a newbie but, geez, there are 4 joysticks for your right hand and like a pro (which you are) you delicately get them to sing & dance for you. Thanks for a fun video.

The sound of the cat got me to thinkin 30 to 35 years ago and miss those days. Now I do Commercial maintenance part time because I have semi retired back in 2020. I enjoy this but have to deal with people. The more equipment you have the more money it takes to keep them working. Sometimes we have to stand back and say do I really need this piece of equipment.

    12 grand plus labor.
    Gotta feel for you Chris.
The cost of doing business can drive you loony.
I loved it when the state of Florida stepped in and decided that those of us in the Amusements Vending ( arcade and pinball games ,jukeboxes, pool tables) business had to begin giving the state 2 cents of every quarter we collected in sales tax.
Then we couldn't deduct a percentage of the cost of parts for repairs from our sales tax totals at the end of the year and get a rebate.
Owning and operating a business can cause more gray hairs than kids.... well except for teens.
Those added to business ownership kick the grey hairs into overdrive.
Been there, done that and it's why my hair is white now.
Single Dad with a teenage daughter, lucky I didn't have a heart attack.
But then I used to tell her high school dates I owned a gun and had/have an expert medal/rating on Pistols and Rifles.
She wasn't happy about that for somereason.
    Kinda scares City boys.
My daughter laughs about it these days finally.
Anyways Chris, thanks for the Saturday afternoon entertainment.

So when the chips are down do what needs done. Learning is what life is about and the occasional oops is part of it. First time I tried to operate a road grader I cut a hole the size of a basket ball and spent the next half-hour to fill it in. Lots of levers and for each move causes a blade angle change. In time Chris there would not be a mistake made buy you. You learn at warp speeds on anything you do.

Most of the eastern states were entirely clear-cut since the 1700s-1800s so very little is old growth worth preserving. The owner said in another video this land was clear-cut by the previous owner in the 90s (IIRC) and the tree re-growth was not managed properly so it's even more trash trees than typical. That's why it isn't worth feeling bad about all the tree destruction Chris does 🤣.
It would be a different story in the western states, especially stuff like California redwoods where we have 1000+ year old trees in undisturbed forests.
Not all trees and woods are created equal

Chris I bet there's not many machines that you can't operate I've operated the old style cable skidders
Like the jd 440 and 540 but not the grapple style I don't it would be too difficult to learn
