I found the original owner of the car, who told me that he drove it on both Q-Chan and the Bayside run. It's a white series 2, so only about 1800 of those were made. I built it originally to 630hp (using the stock low-mount twins configuration) because that's how much the Group A cars had to start with. Later I turned it up to 2.0 bar for about 750whp. I’m only a bit younger than you Craig, and I had the opportunity to drive r32/33/34’s and supras during the early 2000’s here in Australia. They’re all great cars but the dollars that the west is paying for them at the moment is simply stupid. They were undeniably quick for their time, but the nineties were not the sixties and seventies when everyone was making go fast cars. And in comparison to today’s options, they are adequately powered when modified. But the two things that nobody ever talks about, specifically the gtr’s, is Nissan interior quality was terrible, and the gtr is such a highly strung car, it’s absolutely always breaking stuff. Here in the Caribbean isles of Trinidad and Tobago our market is JDM. First time I saw a GT-R R34 was in 1998. Brand new. Years before I saw the R32 and R33. We had them down here in the production year it was released. Seeing it and hearing the RB engine, which also was in the Nissan Laurels and A31 Cefiro, you'd definitely want one. Grand Turismo and FF, who needed that to learn of these iconic cars, when you got to be right next to one in person. Even be driven. Was too young to drive. But an experience you'll never forget!
Do you see how expensive those old Lambos are? They were easily outpaced by cars a few years after they were made. Yet the values still go up because people love the car.
Craig lieberman, I know you probably won't remember me but you were in south carolina in your uber m3 back in 2007 or 2008 I was in a 2004 rx8 we met while cruising around and you showed me around your m3. You're a pretty cool guy, thanks for that and the videos.
Tbh I think the R35 GTR is a cheat code on wheels. Every street racing scene is always dominated by whoever has a GTR and enough bank to mod it. There’s even a GTR World Cup. Having AWD, launch control, and an automatic transmission basically means the thing drives itself. Look at 1320 video and tell me I’m wrong
GT-R is the real deal but let's be honest. Non GT-R R34s are much better and more affordable. Besdies the collector's car aspect it's much more reasonable to buy GT-T or even a GT model with manual, put GT-R "inspired" front bumper, get a giant wing and invest some money into performance parts. Such car will never be as desirable as a genuine GT-R, but it will look and and sound pretty much the same. Heck, I honestly like how stock GTT looks like.
My heart wants the r34 to win. But my mind says it's probably the r35. Either way both are unobtainium for me. Never meet your heroes I guess. I do have a selfie with an r34 GTT. So I was up close to one at least.
@@nick3777 What are the odds of winning the lottery? I live in Australia so it's much easier to get a GTR here but they're still not cheap. Hell, even non-GTR Skylines are going up in price.
I like the R35 GTR it's a awesome car but for me personally the R34 skyline will always be my #1 favorite Japanese sports car of all time and my dream car someday.
All those performance metrics stock vs stock may be true, and I don't disagree with it at all. You simply don't compete against 20 years worth of advancing technology. But the thing is, if we're talking aesthetics which wasn't compared because it's a subjective thing... the R-34 trounces the R-35, all day every day. It's an absolutely stunning car, an iconic car. Popular culture may have A LOT to do with that, but it is what it is. The R-35 is never going to be as iconic as the R-34 was in terms of aesthetics. Hell I'd even argue the R-33 is a better looking car than the R-35. It's the same story with the A80 vs A90 Supras. All else being equal, I'd take a nearly 20 year old A80 over an A90 any day in the week, even if the A90's weren't glorified BMWs and had kept the legendary 2JZ. Aesthetics play a large role in why we buy the cars we buy. Then you have performance, and other metrics like whether a car is a good modding platform, etc. I admit that the looks of the R-35 have grown on me over the years, especially the eye-watering priced Nismo trim, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the R-34. If money was no object to me, and I could only have one GTR, It'd absolutely be a Midnight Purple 3 R-34 V-Spec II. I'd say Z-Tune but I gotta be a little realistic here.
Initial D was my intro to r32 r33 and R34... always good to see a vid from you Craig! Have to agree, I’d have to go with the New Godzilla, just as I wouldn’t want my 97 TSIAWD back again nearly 20 years later. No matter how great it was then, the reality is that performance has exponentially moved on.
Basically. The the R34 is not for a person that wants to show off. The R34 is for a person who wants to experience the ownership of the car after years of wanting to even see one. The R35 too. I'd settle for a nice Purple R33 V-spec, or a Mint R30 Turbo to be honest... Ok... Who am I kidding. I desperately want a Millenium Jade R34, but I'm 20 years old. I will never get to even see one, let alone drive and own one
I’m in the same boat, I would want an R34 in white but I’m ok with settling down for an R33 or worst case scenario an R32. I’m not much younger than you and with how prices are looking, the future ain’t looking bright for us who want to be in the position to get our dream R34

You said it, Craig - it's an emotional purchase. However, I was never exposed to that car growing up, and I've only recently (in my mid 20's) become a mega fan boy of the R34. I think if you know enough about the car, its history, its character, and appreciate the timeless aesthetics of the car, plus its performance potential, you can very quickly fall in love with it without an ounce of nostalgia.
Hey Craig! If you ever make it up to Minnesota/Wisconsin we have a big German meet coming up on July 11th if you're interested. Reason 1. lots of fans 2. cool content 3. Food beer and german car enthusiasts.
This whole market is insane, the GT-R trickle down effect is a very real thing as well. As GT-Rs increase so do non GT-R variants. I bought a Grade 4 2001 coupe from the auction a couple of years ago for a hair under 4K now the same time examples are going for almost 30k for a NA auto! And turbo ER34s are rapidly approaching 50k.
So just a bit over 700% increase of what you gave a couple years ago. You got it right, that entire market is certifiably insane. Hope you still have it, I definitely think it will be worth parting ways with once the price gets a bit too irresistible.

I have the 260rs Stagea, but I still want a GTR..
The r34 is a legend but I'm more attracted to the r35 body, I'm in love with the shape of the roof how it goes down towards the back, the lines and the backlights but at the end of the day I know Iwould end up wanting both cars, I dont care which one is better both are beasts. That's why Craig is my hero since he has own both.
The back of the r35 is sexy the front not so much
@@claudedottin1312 it's not that bad for my liking but i do think they should of been different, the headlights resemble more the ones from a 350z.
@@EddieG582 exactly!
@@claudedottin1312 That's just me can't find any defects on that car, it's like they say love makes you blind and I'm in love with them.

Saving for a house while watching your dream car go up in price is truly painful (not a GTR btw)
What is it
Tbh I think the R35 GTR is a cheat code on wheels.
Never say never mane
There is an importer in my area that has a 1991 r32 sitting in the showroom right now asking $40k it's got 153km/94mi showing it looks great.
If you want performance the R35 is just better. Those VR38s are no joke.
Hard to say but R34 GTR takes the cake for Nostalgia but it won’t beat the old 70s GTRs
Proper Hakosuka GTRs are arguably unicorn level. Even non-GTR variants are absurdly up there in price.
Early 1970’s GTR all day long
I saw a R34 yesterday and it is beautiful
I saw about 2 r35 were i live, there sound is so different from anything and saw a gallardo a while back
R34 and it isn't even close. I6 > V6, you can't change my mind.
I can give you credibility if you've actually had both. Have you?
9:14 broke my heart 💔😭
Hurrt my soul
I own a 35 but my heart will always belong to the 34.. ☺
Good luck bro maybe one day u own both
I feel the same.
I’m in the same boat, I would want an R34 in white but I’m ok with settling down for an R33 or worst case scenario an R32. I’m not much younger than you and with how prices are looking, the future ain’t looking bright for us who want to be in the position to get our dream R34
I mean the R35 is better at everything on and off paper numbers wise. The R34 just checks all the right nostalgia boxes.
OFF TOPIC: Saw some video of a girl fight in Cali. Two chicks battling in the street and all I noticed was a Sil80 in the background. I might be a car guy.
I wish they continued the “skyline” lineage, even tho the new age gtr is called an R35 it doesn’t really have the skyline element to it
Thanks for this video Craig. It is an emotional decision to own one of these, and most people can’t see it.
I'm pretty nostalgic for the R34, but the R35 was a pretty decent evolution as well.
I want a freaking s15 so bad... I can't wait till they start getting legit legal here... I know a few folks with them and they are so sweet.
what is 78k worth today?
110 grand?
Dam... your son got an s14 as a first car. Thats savage.
Skyline r34 GTR ALL DAY
Which is better?....simple...which ever one you like the most.....if you like it....it will always be the better car
For real. Rule number one in life...F what they think.
truly said
Thing is, u could easily make the R34 crush a stock r35, 800whp is possible and u would look a millions times cooler in it. Probably the coolest car ever built (apart from an escort cosworth obv)
Great video great explanation I dreamt of this car, but I settled for a M4 Competition. At the end of the day the cost value proposition just wasn’t there for me and Craig explained it towards the end perfectly.
R34. Mostly for looks and its weight. A lot more power from a lighter platform.
The r35 is better in every regard when it comes to performance. As far as looks? I’m sure most people prefer the way the r34 looks. Either way I don’t care for either. The r31 and r32 are my favorites
I absolutely love the r34 Skyline...regretfully, it’ll be a car that will forever be unattainable...havnt even had a chance to see one....r35 I’ve had a few chances to obtain an r35, but the thing that kills me from getting a r35, is the fact that I can’t get a manual...
I mean you can buy a used one and do a manual swap however they cost a small fortune
On a r35?? GTR?? I could potentially do a 370z swap, but with all the electronics in the car, it’s not even worth it lol
Cant really do a swap , r35 have a small rear transmission. But yeah automatic sports car sucks, but at the beginning, the r35 was to show numbers, which they did and worked. You granny can win drag race while eating some peperman.
R34 VS R35, the choice that determines if you're a 9 or 10 year old
I think both are great.
Both this GT-R R34 and R35.

Definatly
The R35 is a full fledged supercar from factory so it's a little different.
@@ShiningJudgment666 yeah that car was built to become Nissans own supercar as everyone else in the mother was making them doesn’t make the R35 any less badass
What a great line for the intro of the video.
The getting laid and front row valet parking bit had me laughing hysterically lol My experience with my MK4 Supra is a little different though
Craig, the S14 drift car
Please do a video of it
Today i saw a s14 with a r33 front end on it, looked rough
Love the content man! Never stop creating !
Back wit another one 🔥
R32 is king vspec 2 will always be the true godzilla
Hey Craig! If you ever make it up to Minnesota/Wisconsin we have a big German meet coming up on July 11th if you're interested. Reason 1. lots of fans 2. cool content 3. Food beer and german car enthusiasts.
I love both but I prefer the R34 personally it looks and sounds much better to me but hey to each their own
Would take the R34 personally
I’d rather get an R34 gtst
Cars, in general, are increasing in price because many people took advantage of the markets in 2020 and got certifiably rich.
The r34 was everybody's favorite car but the r35 is the newer version from the past and it look similar as the r34 it had a different model style thanks Craig for the video.
The r34 will still be the most iconic for two reasons:rb26dett and paul's 2fast 2furious skyline
RIP paul walker
Y'all forget that it was WAY MORE ICONIC before movies
Ok Heres My Take
Skyline R34 for nostalgia looks and fanboyism from all angles
GTR R35 for Face Ripping Launches from Factory plus Ease of drivability from a novice Level
Both Have their advantages and disadvantages if i had the oppurtunity id buy both coupes are critically endangered species in the world gotta buy while we still got em ya know
I wouldn't buy a car just for nostalgia.

They are both subpar compared to the R32 in Bayside Blue!!!
R35's are more affordable than R34 GT-R's now.
35 for performance, 34 for attention
You can get a GTT in Europe for a very good price. It's no supercar but it still looks fantastic and has a lot of tuning potential. It's a million times easier to get a GTT and just put some bolt ons on it than to buy an NA Supra and go through the conversion process.
Happy to take either, bayside blue, unmodified, right hand drive. Thanks.
Well, my first contact with aR34 was playing metropolis street racer in dreamcast, I never saw this car before in my life, and I was. Immediately haunted, it is and it will be my impossible love, great video
