I like the utility that shows you what is keeping a file open if you can’t delete or update it. The file open problem used to happen a lot in the past and the only way to clear it was to reboot.

Resource Monitor's --> CPU tab --> Associated Handles section --> type in the file/folder name in 'search handles' box and press enter. It will list the program/service using it.

The crop and lock feature is gonna be so awesome for accessibility, I can move one region to a larger screen. Also the jump between screens over LAN is great, I supported software back in Win7 called Synergy that did this and it’s amazing.

Yeah... Synergy. Wanted to use it for Linux to Windows connection but it is only in the new paid version... MWB actually was standalone from 2005, but does not support Linux... it was actually amazing they bundled it - one less App to install in case of a full Windows Clean Install

I really like the Quick Accent tool! Because it enables you to use the normal US keyboard instead of the US International keyboard (which I especially use for non English languages, I am a Dutch person) which has a delayed form way of typing for things like quotes, backticks and carets, which always annoys coding experience, in which you rather want see these tokens appear immediately after typing.
The idea is that you can type a character and directly follow that by pressing the spacebar, to select the associated special character, in a way that looks a bit more like the smartphone way of typing.

FancyZones has dramatically improved my use of screen real estate, esp. as I can set up a custom set of window zones, even having them overlap if I like. As for Mouse Without Borders, I've found it to be buggy in mousing between my Win 11 and Win 10 systems. Until MWB becomes stable, I will continue to use Input Director which is easier to use in an ongoing basis, and has more functionality/features.

Thanks to this video, I researched and discoverd that Mouse Without Borders is available separately for download from Microsoft itself, and I saw that it works not only for the mouse, but for the keyboard as well. Maybe it's possible to hit the V with the thumb while pressing the others with the back of the hand or something 😅.

I was trying for the longest time to find a way to have a single mouse and keyboard control both my work laptop and my home PC. I know I could just buy a switch (which I did) but it was really cumbersome and the delay after clicking the switch for the laptop/PC to recognize the devices was annoying. All the solutions I found software-wise were only working on a local network. Out of curiosity you mentionned "I think mouse without borders works only on the local network" but I figured I could give it a try: My work laptop is connected through a VPN to my company network which made other solutions unable to be used. The cursor without borders is something I will have to try. I use 2 computers at time, and a 2nd mouse is somewhat annoying at times.

I am so glad to making this to be official instead of some external tools, for example Meazure.

What was that search bar he opened up at 4:57. Is there a shortcut for it?

I'm not sure if just using ctrl+shift+v is doing the same as paste as plain text function in the end

Peek was extremly annyoing when it was first introduced. If I would press strg + space (for example in a game) it would always cancel the keypress event somehow. I belive it has been fixed now.

The MouseWithoutBorders program was an independent project by Microsoft as well, I wonder why they decided to merge it with PowerToys.

Pleasse do a video explaining what windows troubleshooting actually does. Because it sure as hell never fixed my problem.

The paste as plain text, peek, registry preview, mouse jump features aren't new but they're good anyways
oh and the text extractor language change was always there for me.

The Peek feature brings Mac's Quick Preview to Windows, and I love it, but it doesn't behave as good as it should. I prefer QL-win's QuickLook, a FOSS project that the same thing but better IMO.

    1:58 doesn't ctrl+shift+v do the same?

    • @Foomba
      @Foomba ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, pastes formatted text as plain text. I don't remember KB shortcuts very well but I have this one.

@@FoombaThat's a feature implemented in many programs, bit it's not universal, and not a feature of Windows itself.

Is there overlap between Power Toys and The Windows Club's Ultimate Windows Tweaker? Is one more complete than the other? And here I thought UWT was a replacement for Power Toys.

What's up. Just want to let you know I've been following you ever since I got into PC and I see a lot of other Geeks as well as you I like to call Smart Guys hating on you and I just think the way you explain things is way far better than most of these guys and I pretty much do not follow I trust your judgment and I like the fact that you do have videos showing your mistakes and that's what I like about you keep up the good work and thanks for the info
