In some ways Namibia is like Canada. For instance both are in the shadow of their more populous southern neighbours, in the shadow of big brother, and wanting their own cultural ways. (A difference is that South Africa ruled Namibia for 75 years.) Both have low populations for their large sizes. Both are regarded as deserts, which isn't true. Canada is regarded as a desert of ice and snow. That would not be true over all of Canada, and all year. Namibia is regarded as a desert of sand. But, that's just in the south and the coast. Both have controversial seal culling programs. Both have less social issues than their southern neighbours.

I'd like to mention that the picture roadsigns in minute 8:18 is acctually from Berlin and not from Namibia. They're from the Afrikanisches Viertel (african quarter) which has a lot of streetnames named after african placed.
I have to visit this place, sounds awesome! I went to the Chinese coastal city of Qingdao (Tsingtao) which used to be a German colony as well. It had many German buildings and of course beer. It's fascinating to see the traces of a European nation that had much lesser colonies for a shorter amount of time than rivals like France, England and Portugal.
There's also traces of the Italians in Libya and Ethiopia. And the Belgians in the Congo (the larger one). Also, Cameroon and Togo were German colonies.

Hey if your really saving for a trip over. Let me give some advice. If your headed to Windhoek stop by and try Joe's beer house that is located in the area Eros. It's the best bar and atmosphere. If your looking for a McDonald's at all your out of luck as there is no such thing. A good alternative is Steers though. If you want to go to a wilderness reserve. Etosha would have been my pick 6-7 years ago but it hasn't been keeped up that well. So try erinde it's closer to whindhoek as well. If your going to rent a car make sure it's 4X4 also the weekend markets in the town centre are a must hit. if you want to go camping I recommend the trip to the white lady lodge for a night and then just drive along the dry river bed and camp out on the river. Just be cautious of the wild elephants you might encounter. Namibia I also say is the safest African nation to walk at night but still be on gaurd a little bit. If your stoping over in South Africa make sure to use all your Namibian dollars in nam as even though you can use rand in Namibia you can't use the dollar in South Africa. Also stay safe on the roads.
I’m from Namibia and this video was literally a recap on the geography I already knew about my country. Great video. Everything was correct except for some pronunciations.
It's just a picture of a teacher pointing at a black board. In front of a crowd, who is entusiatically following him...
I’m from Somalia 🇸🇴 and my first African country that I love is Namibia 🇳🇦 ❤️ still Africa is my home but Namibia is so great
Hello fellow African

The poor people of Zimbabwe? Cause Zimbabwe is hella poor.
It would be fine if they kept Rhodesia
1:09 that is a mistake, Namibia is about 250 meters away from bordering zimbabwe, just zoom in on it on google earth/google maps, and you’ll see it
Not saying that you are wrong, but I dont trust google maps.
@@Eagletwohead are you stupid
@@billrobertjoe yes, how did you know???
No, I'm namibian and we do officially border Zimbabwe
@@Eagletwohead *ME TOO*
I’m from Namibia and this video was literally a recap on the geography I already knew about my country.
Great video.
Everything was correct except for some pronunciations.
7:25 "German school" * looks at image * Yikes...
Nazi Namibia is coming soon...
Good thing Namibia doesnt have a big enough population to try and conquer Africa with their pure afrikaan blood.
It's just a picture of a teacher pointing at a black board. In front of a crowd, who is entusiatically following him... He must be nice guy with grate Ideas, probably on how to make the world a better place. I don't see anything wrong with it...
Seriously though, I laughed out loud when I saw the sign.
its not meant to be a hitler salute if thats what you thought
@@freerunner0682 I know, but with the right sense of humor it sure does look like one

"I went to a public school in Chicago"
Yeah, I'm sure Barbs learnt those signs from being in a public school in Chicago 😏
Spinoguy69 what?
In one of his old videos Barbs said that he went to jail for a while and doesn't want to talk about it.
@@StukovM1g Wait what video

@@aarongreen27yearsago96 I genuinely can't remember. I think it was one where he talks about his life after his father died.

Afrikaans can be pretty difficult to pronounce, so I respect the effort! You did pretty well! And it was lovely to learn more about our neighbours up north.
Thanks for making this video it helps me to do an activity about the history of Africa.

@@farajaraf : You really think you can't be fit mentally and physically ?
@@farajaraf Most successful people are reasonably fit and reasonably intelligent. Poor health isn't exactly good for someone's mental health, and therefor, ability to motivate oneself to actually learn.
