Nice video, both mine will group inside 3/4 inches at 35 yards but both had to be rebuilt with cylinder hones , new springs and piston washers giving a minimally tight easy sliding fit in the cylinder. While it is apart, best to bore sigt them then they will mach any modern air rifle with open sights. Amazing .. Mine just need re-bluing now.

Don't reblue, it will ruin its authenticity. Just oil them up and kept away from moisture.

I had the privilege of seeing your collection at your house a few years ago . I remember you having quite a few BSA standards . I’m actually looking to buy a.22 standard if you’re willing to sell one from your collection .

It is as big as my old musket ( which I can’t just shoot in my back garden ) . I’d love to find such a fine example like yours that I can shoot when the mood strikes me.

My grandfather has an old BSA like this. Its a .177 though and from around 1905. He got it when he was very young from a RAF officer who was lodging with his family in Metheringham Lincoln during the second world war. His party trick was that he could light matches with it. Its sat in his office at the moment. Bit dusty but still shoots.

my grandfather also has one although the front sight has come off so i helped him repair it. Apparently they can be worth up to £350!
(He thought it was worth £40)

Normally the go for between £100 and £200. The ones listed over that rarely sell. But if it is in original mint condition it could be worth a lot of money. One sold at auction for £1300! though that one was in like new condition, not refinished or anything, somehow managed to stay original for the past 100 years. I have three now. My grandfathers which is a Club Special (CS) A fourth batch BSA from 1906 (it is one of the first improved models, predates the improved mod D and B) and a Standard with the double sear trigger. The improved cost me £150 at auction and the standard was £175 privately.

My late father had a pair of these guns. When I was a boy we used to get a gun each (I used my Webley Vulcan) and shoot at each other with chewed up balls of paper. I still have one of them (1921 vintage), just need to service it...

You just have to keep it oiled so the seals don't dry out and crack. People forget to keep them cleaned and oiled and that messes them up to where they don't have the ability to build pressure and fire.

Bobby Dazzler In that condition £250 and upwards. Probably realistically more like £300+ as they're becoming popular collectors guns again at the moment.

    • @D33Lux

Felix El Sayed YES buy it, guns are a great investment, especially antiques like these. They're not being produced anymore so what's out there is all there is. Not many people are selling their guns, many are collectors and holding on to these classics. Think about it like this. All modern air guns are chinese made junk, how many European or North American guns are being made with steel? All of the newer guns are plastic shit. Buy it and enjoy it, life is short don't deny yourself the experience.
I now go around looking for older guns mainly, Slavia, BSA, Gecado, Diana...etc. I will only buy newer guns if I can flip them for profit just so I can re-invest in older guns. The only modern gun I own is a Weihrauch 45, paid alot for it, but that is the Rolls Royce of air gun pistols and shoots incredible accurate and I can hit a pine cone out to 25 yards. To all those with these old metal guns, take care of them, after you're done shooting them, put on gloves and oil them to preserve these beautiful pieces of engineering. G96 gun oil is good and safe for wood parts.

    • @darrencady4261

In the UK these are very common as they were very well made so their survival rate is very high. Even though some of these rifles are over a century old they are very accurate with their open sights, much more so then some modern air rifles made today. Even though they are common finding one with its original bluing and etching is not common and will come at a hefty price tag. It is truly amazing how BSA could engineer such fine air rifles in large numbers made to extremely tight tolerances over a hundred years ago with air tight loading taps and perfect rifled barrels.
You are correct in stating the .22 caliber models were made in 5.6mm as opposed to the now standard 5.5mm.
      Thank you for your presentation.
