This is a very special edition Seiko Prospex Diver. This release is essentially celebrating the 62 MAS, the grand-daddy of Seiko dive watches. Now, I hear you thinking - wait a minute - didn’t Seiko already celebrate the 62MAS a few times before? Well yes, but who am I to complain..
This re-issue is similar to the SLA037, fundamental difference being a different movement, different case finishing and of course - different price tag! Closest competitor in this price category would perhaps be the Tudor Black Bay. On the Tudor though - the darn lume pip lines up correctly. It appears to be a bit hit and miss still with Seiko. Hopefully they fix this in the near future as other than that - these are stellar watches.
Quite a bit less expensive is the equally awesome SPB series, probably our favourite release of 2020! Do check out those as well if you are looking for a nicely styled - and affordable - Seiko Diver.

I have this watch, and its a beautiful piece. Its expensive, but the quality is as good as rolex or omega. The only fault is the movement should have been regulated at this price point. A bracelet would have been cool too. At over 4k new, UK price , its a lot of money, but if you have one, you quickly realise , you have the perfect diver. I've looked at omega at a similar price point, but this seiko is way nicer. This is a really special watch, I've been collecting for over 40 years , and this watch is basically a grand seiko in all but name. I've got a 4k tudor, but the seiko is leaques ahead in build quality. The tudor wins in accuracy though , so seiko need to put this right. This watch is a masterpiece, and I can't find any faults in mine apart from regulating the movement. The bezel action is buttery smooth, the deep blue face is just awesome, the double domed sapphire is just beautiful, the case brushing is gorgeous, as well as the ever bright steel , that really pops , all in all , you know that the money is spent well. If your on a budget the spb051 /053 is a brilliant watch too. I love my 051, and considering you can get a good used one now for £500, its an amazing deal .

To be clear about the lume pip: It is only very slightly off-center. The camera angle makes it look a bit more exaggerated than it really is. Lovely watch!
Same goes for the more expensive SLA037. From all photos/videos online I have yet to see one that is perfect. Even the one I handled in person had the same issue.
@@pibblesnbits Thanks for sharing your experience as well. I have definitely seen some with perfect alignment as well, but it is just hit and miss (yet easily fixed afterwards). I think Seiko is testing people's patience with this - they should just address this sooner rather than later :-)
@@degriff You can't fix the misaligned bezels as the insert cannot be separated from the bezel in the SLA models.

The watch looks great. However for the price tag of $4500 usd, I’d expect better alignment, better accuracy, and a stainless steel bracelet with the addition of the rubber straps.
Debated this quite some time as well here, and really appreciate your critical feedback. The lack of bracelet is fine, but the alignment is getting old now I personally agree, they have to start fixing this at this pricepoint. That said all the rest is at the very least at par if not many (many) steps above what you would see at this pricepoint (at least at European prices) from established luxury brands.
Alignment there for the fraud protection. If you ever get a Seiko and everything is aligned then you know you got a fake. You should return it and demand for the misaligned genuine product. /s

I bought the first rendition of the 62 MAS , for approx $4000. I sold it with8n a year as the bezel misalignment drove my OCD nuts!
I really want a sla057 but the idea of ordering one and having the bezel or chapter ring misaligned really turns me off. Seiko has big QC issues even on their most expensive lines.

I don't see my comments, but I'll answer your question anyway, I say that the 043 should be priced at around 3500-3800 USD. I recently purchased Seiko GS SLGH003 and must say that one is worth the whole 9700 asking price what a killer of a time piece and highly recommended.

Great watches but the issue with the Japanese market watches is that they can’t be serviced in the states, it has to be shipped to Japan. They don’t release peseta and local watch repair shops don’t have the special tools needed for those seiko. There is another video here in you tube where the jeweler had to make his own tool to remove the rotor of the 8lr movement

I own many from the original 62Mas to all the currents 2020 release and can say accurately that 043 is just under the 037 and 039, the 037 has a better movement and a better dial with a box crystal that's a bit more transparent. I can also say that all of the ones I own are a bit overpriced including my current 037, 039, 043, 143,149. All are over priced. Seiko is really racking in the money and importantly making up for the years lost of not offering many top models in the US.

This looks and feels a lot like my 1969 Omega Seamaster 120.
How come the watch has 2 rubber keepers. That’s not an official strap

I agree they have to slow it down a bit here with these reissues. They passed a few milestones now, worthy of celebration, so let’s assume they will slow down with the limited releases now. There is indeed such a thing as “too much” of reissues and special or limited editions (imho)

You would only pay 2k for it.. but it wouldn’t come home with you.
There’s other lines to suit your budget- spb line, or the 5KX line.
It’s good for people like you with a lobster appetite but a 2 minute noodle budget
because you dont understand it is hand assembled in the Grand Seiko studio, and not by robots. And the quality is higher then that of a Rolex sub.

No. It’s a gradual process that lasts at least an hour
