What sets these two models apart is the dial color: the SBGW297 presents a serene cream dial, while the SBGW299 offers a deep, dark blue dial. Both dials feature a radiating pattern that captures the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics, reminiscent of folding fans, which adds a layer of depth and intrigue to the watch's appearance. This pattern complements the multifaceted, zaratsu polis...

MoonSwatch OR BUST! Hands-on Swatch x Omega Moonswatch and Comparison With The Omega Speedmaster
I have watched quite a few mechanical watch explanation but by far this, in particular, is the best explanation. Perhaps, the best animated video to understand the working...KUDOS to the efforts put. Finally, I understood how my automatic watches work...!!
Stunning.
The best lumen lumibrite nice design but the precisiin for this price it-s m bad
Not exhibition case back?
Nice job! Well explained and illustrated.
What is your wrist size in cm?
16.5cm exactly :-) Thanks for asking!
Thanks for the video, very insightful. Looks can be deceiving so I suggest to try it on your wrist. Believe it or not, it fits perfectly on my small wrist and the size amplifies the GMT time as I travel quite a lot. I have few Rolex GMTs but this model (and SBGM211 which I highly recommended) is special, you could just spend hours looking at the dials and wonder the artisan work by the watchmakers. Forget about resale value argument as GS will almost never win the case, but what I can guarantee is the smile on your face when you see the out-of-this-world craftmanship by GS.
In my opinion: All hype. I am really, really tired of hearing about the Rolex "Pepsi." If I were to rely solely on TH-cam I would be starting to believe that Rolex no longer makes or sells any other models.
I had a screen shot of this thumbnail on my phone for a while and now own both!
bezel insert is not ceramic only in SPRE 05J1 does!
Too bad it is almost 48mm lug to lug
Flik flak.🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Thank you for the excellent explanation and presentation!
Just got one a few weeks ago and it's been growing on me day after day. Basically stunning and I haven't been able to switch to another watch in my collection for more than a day before comming back to it 😅
I have the SBGW283. It is such a pleasing piece to wear, it's jewel-like with wrist presence enough without being in any way overbearing.
So how can I set my watch without breaking the wheel train?
Too bad the dial won't stay lit, not great if you're working an accident at night and need to time pulse or pressure on a wound,
Looks so freaking tiny. 😮
How the escape wheel was making the balance wheel move, through the impulse pin & jewels, is the one thing I was always wondering about. Thanks for the video.
Good heavens, this is glorious. Absolutely remarkable.
The textured dial is beautiful.
Haha, great tip, I wish I had known this before I fitted and unfitted various bracelets on my watches, Ill be buying one of these today 👌
I saw a comment or 2 or more complaining about the price and now that I can see properly, the details are a message from Seiko; They have stepped up into a new price point with all the expenses on this new details. I think it is awesome. On my hopeful list
I have the original från 1969 (37mm and white dial). Great watches
They fixed all the mistakes of the past: acrylic glass and a bad strap. I had an Ironman in the 90's and used it for years. I'll be happy to come back to it.
Criticism of the NATO strap is totally unjustified. Cutting the extra strap or reworking it like explained here defeats the purpose of keeping the watch away from the wrist to allow ventilation and lessen sweating. Also the watch can be stowed by reverse looping and it provides substantial cover for the front and back of the watch when kept with other items in the bag or pocket. It's the ultimate utilitarian strap.
Very nice explanation. Though I like to explain the palet fork before bringing in the balance wheel into the picture. The pallet fork having two stable states (left or right) when torison is applied by the main spring through the train if wheels and that the main spring would maintain its potential energy forever unless something acts on the palet fork (enter the balance wheel).
Had it been a bit thinner it would have been as beautiful as a Patek 5196j. But then it is probably more robust and definitely cheaper 😃
If your going to review a Rolex, shouldn’t be a real one? The index, and lettering don’t even come close to being aligned!
🙄
I have the iridiscient g shock 2100,mate it gets more attention that rolex
I love those dials 🤩
Как по мне,у Casio одна модель часов которая более менее нормально смотрится на руке, это 5600.А остальные просто убогие,напичканы всякой хернёй которая нагружает дисплей🙂 Timex ironman 👍👍👍
Close but no cigar. Lange’s finishing and metal selection blows glasshute out of the water.
I have the yellow one and its awesome. The only negative is that I can see some black spots from wear because the bright colour.
I would love it if they did gold furniture against a silver dial, just a for a touch of contrast.
Amazing! This video is more beautiful than describing this watch and presented it in a way that does it justice! Thank you two years later 😄
Haha, thank you - I very much appreciate it :-)
Amazing review and again, super awesome pieces that you get to do hands on!!!
Thanks man! Yes it was a pleasure to have these for a bit, not nearly long enough though 😮💨🔥🔥🔥
Maybe it rules with everything, but certainly not with the sound volume.
Best simple explanation I've found. Thank you.
Much appreciate the kind feedback, thank you as well!
This watch is awesome, and hides its thickness well. It's actually thinner than the smaller SBGE series GS GMT's. If GS could get the thickness down to 13mm and do a refined quick adjust clasp it would be a must buy.
Can i wear this watch on world war 3?
They may make beautiful dials but the bracelets are severely sub-par and the logo and font are beyond awful.
The Grand Seiko are by far a much better watch than ROLEX, putting all of the biased European hype aside.
Better in craftsmanship for sure. In design - well, not so much. I had 5 Grand Seikos in my collection over the years. There is always a little design decision somewhere that makes the watch a bit less good as they could be. But finishing and technical prowess is top notch for sure.
Wow, two references rarely seen here. The dial texture on the SBGD201 is breathtaking.
Thank you Monsieur De Griff, Grand Seiko watches are indeed exquisite, both in styling and engineering terms. They can often be purchased on the grey market at a significant discount though, so you need to be careful where you buy. Cheers, Bob 🍻
Not for everyone for sure… but nevertheless exceptional and beautiful. The more simple models are simply the most beautiful one. So pure and perfect
It is a beauty, very elegant and at same time, functional as well.
Love the case design here myself too! Very much like the bigger brother Marine Master or now SLA series. This is really a slimmed down version of the 44.3x15mm MM300, and love it!
Thick for a hand wound watch.
❤
My grail watch
