There are so many ways to cut energy costs with the expense of energy seemingly rising all the time. A new programmable thermostat is a very effective way to do just that. The best part is you don't have to be a HVAC expert to learn how to install a thermostat.
I give a quick overview in this video by taking my existing thermostat of the wall and re installing it. I had no idea how to do this years back but I had the opportunity learn how to install a thermostat from a friends father because he was in the heating and cooling business.
Hiring a professional will probably cost more than you paid for the thermostat itself. By following the steps in this video you can learn how to install a thermostat as well. Not only can you save money on the install but with a new programmable thermostat you can start saving immediately on your how heating and cooling bills.
• How To Install A Therm...
Had 4 wire feed to the thermostat. Connected the blue wire to the "'b" terminal. Made sense to me. Air conditioner fan ran all the time, whether thermostat fan switch was auto or on. Wasn't until I connected blue wire to the "y" terminal, thermostat functioned properly. Counter-intuitive.
Thank you so much. I looked through a few videos and you said things to the point that I could understand it. I changed my 1st thermostat and saved money in doing so.....
Pleas explaning zamil 22o v thrmo start explain power out comprssor sreil linne comein but not explanein bai
Thanks! Easy to follow. Greatly appreciated!!!
I have a baseboard oil heat system. The old thermostat had only two wires hooked up. A red wire going to “R” and another wire going to “W”. The Honeywell thermostat has two options for “W”, one is “W” without Aux and “W2” aux. any idea which one to use?
Thank you! That was the easiest video to follow of all the ones I came across this morning.
Thank you for your video. I have the same model.
Question #1: Do I have to do basic "Setup function?"
Question #2: When the room temperature is matched the setting temperature, the system should stop for a while, right?
Question #3: If you turned off the system, it should stop after few minus, right?
nice to know how to take off the cover and put it back on. Helped me immensely.
Lol.right
I have 7 wires. Connected it matching wires from where I took them off. Not blowing cold air. Do I need to wait for it to get cold, or is there a chance I mixed wires & have heat instead of cool?
I followed instructions. I have heating & air. Is the air conditioner outside suppose to turn on when the heat is on?
Very easy to follow. Nice
What if you have a blue wire but no C space? There is only RC on mine
My backplate looks completely different that my other one. It does not have the W line to hook up. Labels are
E, AUX, Y, G, O, L, R, B, C (optional with batteries) & my old non programmable Honeywell thermostat only uses Y G O W R (with jumper connected R to Rc) any help would be greatly appreciated.
Can u hook a baseboard heater up to one of these thermostats
i NEED HELP. I replaced the thermostat with Honeywell RTH6580. There were 6 wires (Y, G C, O/B, Rc, and Y2) in the old thermostat and I placed the connections to the same letters in the new one. I programmed and then also connected to the Internet. When I turned it COOL, the hot air came on, instead of A/C. The wires were matched perfectly - should I be doing something else?
Am enjoying ana my knowledge is growing, thanks
mine is honeywell rth111B, it needs battery to operate. So I don't have to connect C wire (blue). correct?
I have a gas furnance with 3 wires to thermostate not working. Wht(nuetral), grn 12v. red 12v. not sure of proper wiring to honeywell therm
How did you get the red wire in there? I have been fighting it for a solid hour. The R & RC screws are in so tight I can't unscrew them enough to fit the red wire in. All the other screws work just fine
For the R/Rc jumper, you should unscrew until the Red wire go in.
What do I do with this black wire it looks like it is hooked into 2 , RC n RH
So I have a Honeywell without a C wire connector. But when I removed the Nest it had a C wire. The other wires are connected properly and the instructions said to tape the C wire. It has batteries also. But it won't come on. What the hellogod did I do wrong? It seems so simple.
How do I open The R" terminal?
Hi there ,my wiring does not have the c wire ,i want to install a new thermostat that needs a c wire for wifi use.Can i use i jumper from the red to give it power?i already have a jumper from RH to RC.thanks
aj sj you cant jumper from red to c. It will cause a low voltage short if you do
I have a quick question I broken my thermostat and took the plate off and trying too put it back on from putting new batteries now the pins are broken off and I dont have time too pick new thermostat so I kept it off so is it safe thanks
Turn the AC Handler breaker off.
Take a picture of the wires w your phone
I need help My thermostat I got came in and pushed a lot of buttons and now it's worse than it was before. I'm freezing. Can you help me?
I have a black wire labeled E. Where does that go?
My A/C unit is running & cooling home fine.
But the AC system will not 'automatically' turn on or off by itself. i Put in new thermostat and it still will not 'automatically' turn on or off.
I have to manually push down arrow on thermostat 3-times to get A/C running.
Then it will run forever until I manually push up arrow on thermostat.
Put in new relay switch & new thermometer. Help. Why wont AC automatically turn on (or off) at desired temp. It's a Comfortmaker, put in 10yrs ago. Can't afford new one.
p.s. The 'furnace heat' side thermostat works perfectly.
Mustard Seed check your wiring again. Something is touching somewhere within the circuit
Why is it that I still get heat coming out of my vents even though the thermostat is set to "off?" I have all four wires attached to their color letters: W,Y,G, and the Red.....I have no common wire....
I only have 2 wires and my heat electric?
I have 2 wires and a jumper wire. What's jumper for. Hmmm
Thank you!
This really helped!
I have a blue and black. Help?
My blue wire not hook up does it matter ?
It means you have a 4 wire system. Most likely not hooked up on the other end either. So no dice for you.
I have a 4-wire coming out of the wall. Red white blue green. No yellow. The back of my Honeywell rth111b non programmable thermostat does not have a spot listed as C for common. I have central air and a gas furnace. No heat pump no boilers nothing like that. I have red white and green hooked up to their proper locations. Initially my AC was working a few days ago but then it got cold so I went to turn the furnace on and nothing would happen I can't even get the fan to turn on. So I thought I would try changing thermostat from the round Mercury analog to this thermostat now. Not sure where those blue wires supposed to hook up nothing was labeled
Don't you have to turn some kind of power off from the braker box?
yes that would be smart.....
Na those wires only have a very small amount voltage running through them so it will not shock you unless your transformer is bad.
Mando Hernandez it tingles a bit
My Honeywell keeps flashing and switching from off, cool, heat on its own
I can't get the red wire out.😢
What if my thermostat doesn’t have a “W” for the white cable?
Rosa Juarez if your thermostat doesn't have a w terminal, which is for your heat, then you have and a/c only thermostat. If you don't use heat them the thermostat is fine, or change it out to one that does
I have a blue wire labeled C and there is no C on my new thermostat. But there is a B on my thermostat. What do I do?
@@luisarroyo4450 what did you end up doing sir. Same issue here... would greatly appreciate it. Thx
You have gorgeous eyes! I am in LOVE! :P
hindi vich video sir g
Hey thank you so much. Your video tutorial really helped me out wiring this thermostat.... success (“ Hey check me out .... Happy Holidays Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year (“ PeaceLove&GodBless
If I hooked the thermostat up wrong would it cause some electric to go out
charlels millhouse you may short out something in your low voltage circuit, usually a low voltage fuse if your system is equipped with it
My thermostat looks like yours but mine does not have the C to connect the blue wire, where would I put it ? On the one that says not used?

Ridiculous, what's the point? The most unhelpful video ever.
How did you get the red wire in there? I have been fighting it for a solid hour. The R & RC screws are in so tight I can't unscrew them enough to fit the red wire in. All the other screws work just fine
Mine were tight also. I believe it’s to hold the jumper wire between R and Rc in place. It will come loose, just needs some coaxing. The wire is tough to fit with the jumper but that will fit also. Just need to push it hard into the hole. Maybe take the jumper out and use pliers to flatten it out a little to make room for the red wire
If you don’t have cooling, you don’t need the jumper anyway
I have the same problem. It bent the screw driver.😢
