  • How to install a Honeywell thermostat. How to replace or install a furnace and air conditioner thermostat. There are many different HVAC thermostats out there but the installation process for them all is the same. In this video I install a Honeywell Home thermostat which is a basic digital programmable thermostat. I also show how to bypass the program and make the thermostat maintain whatever temperature you set it to.

    Thanks for a nice clear video. If anyone had troubles while using a jeweler's screw driver, etc., those R and Rc screws are hard to turn. You will need a screwdriver with a small slotted bit, but a regular handle for leverage. I was messed up because I was using little screwdrivers to get into those little holes.

    • @AmbersHouseDIY
      @AmbersHouseDIY 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Something that really helps me get leverage when using those little screwdrivers is to put rubber gloves on. I just grab my dish gloves and it works like a charm.

    As far as the wallplate, you can also toenail the screws into the drywall. For those not aware, toenailing is just the carpenter's term for screwing in diagonally. I found this works better than drilling them straight into the sheetrock. Thanks, Jay!

Our one has 5 wires ( C wire including) I hooked up and followed labels wire code match between those . I have no problem with heat but wonder why upstairs so hot and down stair so cold some vents no heat in which the old one does not have that problem. Can u give me a hint on that ? Thanks Jay .

    Your video is spot on! I have a 4 wire the same configuration. Although I won't buy another Honeywell because after replacing 3 of them in 12 years I've had enough. My wire configuration doesn't have a C wire so can't use a Smart Thermostat without the hassle of getting and installing an PEK extender device. I rent so that won't fly. Will just but a LUX battery operated thermostat replacement. Blue wire in my case as in yours will go to the yellow position. Thank you!

    • @TwistedLyfofTV
      @TwistedLyfofTV 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you like the Lux? I moved into a house with one that I have nothing but problems with it. No matter what I say the temp on over 67 the unit doesn't kick on and the house gets up to 80. If I set it on any temp lower than 66, the house drops down to 52. I'm used to Honeywell and was considering replacing it with that.

Now there’s plenty of room, but the faceplate won’t close flush, despite engaging and working fine, and I’m wondering why that may be. I did see some corrosion buildup on the lower contacts, perhaps that may be causing the issue?

    TIP FOR THE NOVICE:
    Honeywell t-stats out of the box short cycle the hell out of heating equipment. The setup instructions say reduce cycles per hour from 5 or 6 to 3 when using a condensing furnace or hot water, but really it should always be reduced. Some of the retail honeywells don't have an explicit cycles per hour setting, it's rolled into equipment type -> for that, in the settings menu, select high efficiency furnace even if yours is mid or low efficiency. This does not apply to heatpumps - there's no compressor cph setting on the retail models.

    I have a question about my Aprilaire model 8444 thermostat. Why does it make a double click when turning on and off my HVAC system could it be because it's sending a fan call with the heat or cool call

    If I have breakers on my furnace, can I turn the power off there? Or do I need to turn the power off at the panel?

    I have 2 red wires on my old thermostat. There is one red wire in each side of the screw on r/c. When I rewire do I put one wire on each side of the jumper?

    Do you need to Lubricate the back pins of the Thermostat? When I replaced the batteries on my Honeywell thermostat I noticed a grease honey color Lubrication on the pins, what is that? Can you provide the exact name/link description?
