If your having a problem where you have no sound from some videos on TH-cam, then this video is for you.

For anyone who might have the same problem -- contrary to what the narrator says, the issue WAS in my Windows sound settings, as I did not have a Realtek HD Audio parameter in my setup.
MY FIX: right click sound in the taskbar (the little speaker icon), speaker setup, chose stereo (was set to 5.1).
I have a two speaker setup with a subwoofer, so with a 5.1 setting, some videos (depending on how their audio was encoded when the content creator rendered it), were trying to send the audio to a center speaker that isn't there. Switching the setting to stereo routes all audio to my two floor speakers.
You can also go into "sound->speakers->right_click->settings" to change it.

Simply go to: 1. "Sounds"
2. "Playback"
3. At the bottom left of the tab click "Configure"
4. Select "Stereo"
And you're pretty much done

Wexi please help me the sound works on other things but on chrome TH-cam it doesn’t work and also on steam all sound works on other games but cs go doesn’t work

If youre on chrome look at the top left on your search bar and you might see a sound icon with a x on it simply click on it and click allow sound on youtube or something like that

Wow, this helped me fix it! I've had this issue for a week now on a SoundBlaster Z. It was simply my headphones plugged into the speaker port. I checked the SoundBlaster control panel, switched it to "Headphones" Mode, then plugged them into the Headphones port. Problem solved. I'm not sure exactly why this would cause the issue but perhaps something with the processing in such an advanced audio card specifically for speakers and headphones. I even had no sound in some game cut-scenes - also resolved. Many thanks!
oh my god. Thank you. I had this issue over a half of year. Your adwice is working in 100%. I had 5.1 settings enabled (in sound section in control panel). I don't know why I didn't touched before.
But now I change it to stereo and now all videos have sound.
damn, i thought that was a youtube region lock security - so i skipped so many videos because of this.

I know this was 2 years ago, but thanks!!! I don't have Realtech, but all I had to hear was mono vs stereo to figure it out on my sound settings.

YES! Amazingly, changing my 5.1 to stereo on my RealTek HD Audio Manager did the trick. Wow! I've been so frustrated for awhile, and decided to finally search a solution. And your video came right up, and did the trick!

Oh man, you're a genius. My SoundBlaster X-Fi audio card was set to 7.1. Changed it to 2/2.1 and worked again!

Thanks so much. This has been driving me nuts. A few weeks ago I was in the Realktek audio mgr. and made some changes for my listening pleasure, and did not know it would mess up TH-cam. Problem solved, happy camper once again.

I realised I had my matrix mode activated on my speakers which shut off that channel of sound. Thanks for having me release this!
For me what got it was control panel > sound > (playback device selected) configure > and then set it to stereo instead of 5.1.

The last method worked for me although I used "sound" rather than the realtek stuff. Needed to change speaker configuration from 5.1 surround to stereo and everything was bliss. Thanks for the helpful video, cheers!

My Realtek Audio Manager, didn't not look like that, and I didn't not have the same options. But It worked when I turned it form 2/2.1 to 4/4.1. To what the heck, it worked! Thanks!
*I GOT IT TO WORK*. Go to control panel on your windows search bar at the bottom left of your keyboard (depending on what pc or laptop you use), GO to control panel, Then find the SOUND section, below that, click ADJUST SYSTEM VOLUME, Make sure everything is turned up, scroll to the far right and a Chrome Icon will show. Turn it all the way up. Mine was all the way down. Idk why, but I hope this helps.

Its was happening on my new computer, it must be how the video is recorded or a realtek glitch
might be a realtek bug because if i switch it back it will work again until u play another vid then u have to do it again that was at my school

Thanks, this worked! One in ten or so videos had no sound in Chrome, I had to open them in Edge. I set Realtek to Stero and now it's all back to normal!

When I saw videos 3 years ago, it was fine! But then a few years later, the audio is missing/corrupted in part of a few videos that were my favorite. What happened?
LOL that worked. I found out that my center speaker was turned off and I guess some TH-cam videos are 1.0 and not 5.1 or 7.1. All this time I thought I had a driver issue..Thanks Man!
Worked Perfect. Mine was set to 5.1 Speakers, i have the 2 speakers and the Sub-woofer. I changed it to stereo and it fixed the problem. Thank you great video, thumbs up.
Dude, it worked! I was always wondering why some fking channels were completely muted for me. Now it's fixxed. I did it with the Control->Sound->Realtek HD Audio-Manager-> set it to "Stereo"

Thanks :) worked for me. Fixed by typing real tech in search box, clicking the different speaker options (5.0 etc) until one of them worked.

This video resolved my youtube sound issue, which was in my case the sound system manager. Switched to stereo as recommended, and the videos I was trying to watch then had sound. Nice work, thanks.

really worked, im not joking, changing 7.1 from Realtek stereo worked for me (i was using 7.1 for headphone fortnite so it happened)

Thank you for the information. I too have Realtek sound SW, so changing the speaker config to stereo (mine was at 5.1 speaker) solved the lack of sound on some TH-cam videos.
Thanks . None of these where my solution but it did lead me to my solution. Turns out my wireless surround sound headphones which use a USB Dongle and there own software had bad drivers causing the center channel of the surround sound not to be transmitted to the headphones causing me not to hear any straight stereo video's. A simple uninstall and reinstall fixed it so thank you for the breadcrumb's mate !
For those with no sounds: Check your Realtek HD Audio Manager via control panel
(My one had 5.1 Stereo mode for some reason, so I switched on other mode and oof its worked!)
at my school every video you watched you had to change it from stereo to surround or surround to stereo if it wasnt working back and forth to get it to work

I had a problem where I had no audio on youtube and only on youtube. The frustration mounted as all the "help" videos on youtube.....used audio. Here's what worked for me. In the address bar was a speaker icon with a red x through it. I do not recall ever customizing Chrome setting to allow me to mute/unmute audio in youtube. I removed the speaker icon in settings and now everything is back to normal. I hope this helps someone else. Do that first before you download anything. It's that easy.

Thanks, I would not have checked my realtek speaker config unless you had mentioned it. I did change it a few days ago but it seemed so insignificant a change and not relevant. Just the nature of computers and software

Going into Windows Audio settings and turning on mono audio with the "Turn on mono audio" button fixed it for me. This was on Windows 10.

in linux check outputs in sound manager as you can turn the sound off in any program or even set the program to send the sound out through the sound card or the hdmi card or both
You may also have this when you reinstalled your PC (like me). Solution is just to download and install realtek HD audio driver and done. :)

this is for pc. if you click the speaker and click open sound settings and right under the youtube video put it at the volume you wish too have and click mute and than unmute on the youtube video. that's what worked for me. hope this helped

Well, thanks - that worked. But I'm wondering (I have 5.1 sound) will I have to change this every time I want to watch a particular video. The only problem was with a CNN news video, both from their web site and you tube and your fix worked in that instance. I should point out I'm retired and have nothing pressing so I shouldn't be too annoyed at having to make the switch.
I have been trying all of them but could not find my sound drive in the options list like you . Tried update drive etc but no joy but good video thanks .
Thanks fixed my sound on a ceretain subscription had to change to 2CH from 7.1 and bingo sound was back

alright, so i have figured out if you were messing with your recordings for no reason and muted the system sounds, edge, and realtek audio things unmute them and it should work another thing to help
check if your tab is muted, to do that go to the very top of your tab and it should have a audio icon, if it has its X tap it and it wont be muted
and of course like he said, check the audio for your computer
or you can go to the video and go in the little corner where the pause button is, the audio icon, tap it and it should be unmuted
