How Can I Avoid Becoming So Attached | Eckhart Tolle Teachings

  • Eckhart shares that what we love about our pets is their beingness. When we recognize that we share the same essence, we have the experience of love. While the physical forms will change, the essence of the being remains; at the deepest level, it is the essence that we share and that continues after the body dies.

This video was an interesting synchronicity. My daughter passed away in 2016. She was 11 days old and was born extremely early, 25 Weeks and 6 days. She was a micro premie. I always get messages from her in a variety of ways but primarily her birthday shows up frequently. Today in particular I was watching other videos and this video came after it on auto-play. I watched it till the end and noticed it was uploaded today. Had she lived, today she would have been 6. :) Her essence surely came through. You rock. Thank you!

I've worked a lot with animal welfare during an extremely low period, of years, with Dogs mostly and I can sincerely state that their loving exchange of their presence and joy kept enough Love in my heart to keep on living. They literally saved my heart, my life and my sanity. I will always be forever grateful for every single animal that has been in my life 🙏❤️🙏

Here are my 10 extra tips to INCREASE your daily manifestations that I’ve learned over the years..👇🏾
    1. Practice gratitude every morning. When you wake up, list everything that you are grateful for and feel that gratitude in your core. Feel free to write things down in a journal so it is easy for you to remember.
    2. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Every time you feel a negative thought coming on, make a positive spin on it right away.
    3. Take ownership for things that happen in your life. It's easy to blame others however you will feel much better when you realize that most issues stem from us.
    4. ALWAYS believe that good things are about to happen. By being open to new possibilities you are inviting abundance into your life.
    5. Remember that like attracts like so you get back whatever you put out, whether it is good or bad. So do good AND received good.
    6. Meditate for five minutes a day. During this time focus on how you want your life to be; but place your focus on how you feel AND feel that feeling as if you have already accomplished those goals.
    7. Step outside of your comfort zone. Stop playing it safe and make that decision to finally go for your dreams.
    8. Focus on activities that make you feel truly happy. When you are truly happy you have the best vibrational frequency to manifest your desires.
    9. Avoid the naysayers and surround yourself with people who only lift you higher. Downers will be downers, don't let them drag you into their misery.
    10. Don't be afraid to dream and know that you are always supported by the universe.
    Hope this helps!

Anything that is real doesn't need thought to exist, we don't need to think to feel love, just being consciously aware of those we love is enough for us to feel that warm happiness and appreciation of them and truly enormous gratitude for sharing this wonderful experience with.
On the other hand unhappy thoughts such as anger fear worry greed all rely 100% on thoughts for thier ability to exist at all.
It's not difficult to explain why your angry with some, we just simply tap into the memory of what they did to us and the words flood out like a raging river. But when we try to explain exactly how much and why we love our parents, siblings, children partners pets and life itself then there simply are no words that the mind can come up with to come even close expressing our deepest most beautiful feelings.

The title question »How Can I Avoid Becoming So Attached« is easily answered:
»Move your identity from all the phenomena and unto that in you which witnesses every-thing, even your own ego (all the thoughts and ideas with which you identify and all those you abhor).«
You become Your-Self and will discover that you know the exact same truths Eckhart is telling you now.
In fact you already know - why else would you feel such love for his words?

My 11-year-old cat passed away a week a go. I've been meditating daily and observing my mind. I accept pain as a natural human experience. However, I recognize that suffering cannot exist without a story or judgment over a given situation. I experience the pain of loss and at the same time, I don't create more suffering by not allowing my mind to escape the present moment. I, therefore, notice how thoughts come and go, and still, I remain quiet and in peace. Thank you for you're valuable teachings 🙏

I think the mastery is in being both detached and attached. For all the years I've been doing this stuff. I feel so much more alive when I am truthful to myself my life and emotions. I have too much love and love too deeply to ever give that up. Detachment means I give up a part of myself it doesn't mean I need to be emeshed. I know for me that I've spent most of my life being an observer. I'm happier when I acknowledge my body and being. I can take some of these teachings in a way that works for me. I make more of a difference in the world and others, with my passion for people and things. Than practising detachment. That makes me feel empty.
I'm too much of an energetically sensitive being to want to give that up. I tried, it makes me depressed and seperate from the world. ❤️

Hi! I love you! Thank You 🙏🏻 You have always been there unconditionally. That is a tremendously great gift 🎁 🙏🏻 Thanks. You are more trustworthy than a dog, and that is a great compliment.

Dogs are more trustworthy than most people... Dogs are honest and cooperative. I love dogs.... and they kiss good too!

I lost my dog a month ago. He was a special needs dog whom I cared for for many years and pretty much molded my life around. I considered him to be my child. He was doing ok for a long time but suddenly his health took a turn for the worse. When he passed in my arms I felt like I died too. I have no partner, no kids or other pets. So, losing him was like some kind of emotional torture. After getting through those horrible first days after his passing I realised that the only thing in life that I truly valued was that unconditional love that we shared. I'm having a really hard time without him by my side. There's a lot of guilt surrounding his death, especially the guilt of chosing euthanasia on the vets recommendation. I feel like, if there's nothing more to life than what I can see with my eyes, and hear with my ears, and touch with my hands, it has no substantial meaning for me, or value to me, and I don't se any point to it. I don't usually consider myself an spiritual person but losing my dog shifted something around and I started searching for "something more". And, then I ended up here. I understand that I had a very strong attachment to my dogs "form" and our relationship.

Ironically they say dogs are a good judge of character. I bet this is what they're "feeling" when they meet someone new!

Brilliant concept and topic that caught my attention, "avoid becoming attached by deeply connecting." Almost a contradiction of terms. But, when analyzed, one sees that attachment is caused by lack of awareness. If one is fully present and experiences, the experience is complete and leaves no room for attachment.
(But, I have written this merely based on the clickbait. Let me see if this great man is going to go in that direction, or merely start around there and explain it on a whole different level)
    (watching the 11 minute video)
As always, Eckhart delightfully surprises and exceeds all expectations. Love his kindness, compassion, and attention to detail. Not to mention his devilish wit that brings all his wisdom into focus. Thank you, Eckhart, as always, for your loving help.
