Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another reaction with Françoise Hardy and her song " Comment Te Dire Adieu." Stunning vocals continue with this artist, and to top that off the arrangement closely resembles something that of Gainsbourg. Even the way Hardy sings this is in his style. See this now!

Françoise Hardy definitely has a kind of nonchalant sophistication that makes you fall in love with her. And of course she is physically absolutely beautiful, not agressively beautiful, more like perfect classic facial features.

This song is actually a cover from It hurts to say goodbye. But, the true gems are Gainsbourg lyrics with all the -ex rhymes, and the words splited in two. It has a unique effect for french speakers, a sophisticated and charming way to express this feeling which really make the song stand out.

Do you know all major singers were in love with Françoise in the 60s? I am speaking here of Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, …
She was very shy and humble despite her success. And she fell in love with Jacques Dutronc a french singer so she dismissed all other temptations 😀

Lyrics by Gainbourg in fact his signature are rhymes on the beat in the middle of the words instead of their end. Using this system and half talked made his songs very catchy and modern by this time.

    Lyrics in english
how to say goodbye to you
    Under any circumstances
    I do not want
    have reflexes
    Unfortunate
You have to explain to me
    Slightly better
How to say goodbye to you
    my heart of flint
    Quickly catch fire
    your heart of pyrex
    Fire resistant
    I'm very puzzled
    I do not want
    Say goodbye
I know well that an ex-lover has no luck, or very little
But for me an explanation would be better
    Under any circumstances
    I do not want
In front of you overexposing my eyes
    Behind a Kleenex
    I would know better
How to say goodbye to you
How to say goodbye to you
You are blacklisted, our sleepless nights, our grey-blue mornings
But for me an explanation would be better
    Under any circumstances
    I do not want
In front of you overexposing my eyes
    Behind a Kleenex
    I would know better
How to say goodbye to you
How to say goodbye to you
How to say goodbye to you

It hurts to say goodbye🎼. 1st version 1966 ever. American song readapted in France by the genius Serge Gainsbourg🥃 The writing in '' EX '' is typical of his style🎻Released late 1968.🎶 Number 1 earl 1969. 🎤That's why many videos are colored🎨. This woman is fantastic. 60s/70s her carreer was mayby short but so intens💪. So lovely, so cute, so clean, so cold, so sad, so straight. Iconic with Sheila, Vartan, France Gall, Bardot🇫🇷 Golden years...💋Before V. SANSON, very talentuous a few years after.😎
Born 1944,she's now fragile but I still love her 💕 Her health isn't strong for decades. Her body is weak but her soul is eternal 🙏.

    Hello dereck,
This song is indeed an adaptation, but it was *Françoise Hardy* who had the bright idea to use the orchestral version of *Arnold Goland* (a rhythmic cha-cha-cha) which has not many things to do with the American version of *Margaret Whiting* (slow tempo waltz rock), and even less with that of *Vera Lynn.* (symphonic waltz rock + slow tempo choirs).
Françoise Hardy, a true artist who wanted to imprint her paw on it, entrusted the orchestration to Jean-Pierre Sabar, her accompanist on stage.
We must also salute the literary work of Gainsbourg, who remarkably knew how to make the song sparkle.
In 1968, Françoise Hardy was in London for a fourth singing tour at the Savoy. Serge Gainsbourg came on-site to submit the text he wrote at the request of the female singer's manager. He had this brilliant idea of accentuating the rhythmic at the hyphenation of words with the syllable, *« ex »* : Sous aucun *préteX.../...te,* je ne veux / avoir de *réfle.../...Xes* malheureux. / Il faut que tu *m'eX.../...pliques* un peu mieux, / comment te dire adieu (Under no *circumstances* do I want to have any unhappy *reflexes.* You need to *explain* to me a little better how to say you goodbye).
It was also he who added the spoken parts.
Moreover, in 1987, Jimmy Somerville wasn't mistaken. It's the Françoise Hardy's version he took over (He ranked 7th in the English charts with this incredible cover).
    Peace Friends 🤗

What is special about these rhymes in "ex" is that they are splitting words, which brings a syncopated rhythm to the poetry:
    Sans aucun prétex-
    -te je ne veux
    Avoir de réflex-
    -es malheureux
    Il faut que tu m'ex-
    -pliques un peu mieux
    Comment te dire adieu.
Splitting words... How fitting for a song about breaking up...
