This and the gobbo one were pretty fun, looking forward to the next episodes. Sort of a shame non of the specialist units get used, like the araknarok or beast with skink riders, but I get it, it's more about Challenger than just army theme :p esp when the mounts are about 99% of the models fighting prowess lol. Also, curious to see what piece of masochism comes next... Gnoblars? Skavenslaves? Ungors? Either way, subscribed and looking forward to finding out! Peace!
I'm thinking of trying bats with the vampire counts (fell bats, vargheists, and terrorgheists) or artillery-only with either dwarves or Skaven. Not sure if either of them is possible, so there may end up being a 1-part series lol.
Loved the video, I don't always have time to watch the hour long playthroughs of uncut gameplay some people do so an edited down version getting the main point and also tips across was brilliant!
This was a ton of fun to watch so you got another sub, I hope your channel blows up because this is pretty quality stuff. I will say though unlike gob or skaven rock bottom units Skinks aren't considered "expendable" or even anywhere near that tier, skink only armies with the right buffs and army composition will absolutely steamroll the fuck out of the game.
Found your channel awhile back while going through TW3 channels, have been going through the entirety of your backlog of videos, just binging 'em. I don't know what I'll do when I run out! lol. Keep up the good work!
I'll be honest, playing as lizardmen with my friend who was playing woodelves in immortal empires literally made one skink army as it was the most practical due to funds, situation etc... it was supposed to be a a backup army but it ended up being the first army to leave lustria and land on the shores of the bloodbowl.... for watever reason no matter the odds it kept surviving with most units intact without having the skink research attack buffs early on those red crested skinks are no joke in combat / normally had a couple blessed shield sauros that always held the line and the red crested would flank and surround as the main combatants ....
I got home and finally got to do something similar. Currently doing only Kroxigor. I already got the short campaign win, but I’d love to see you do it, as you’re way better
Btw, not sure if you know this, or if this has been patched, but if you have stalking units they can basically solo capture a major settlement, just have all of your units on one side except the stalking ones, and have stalking ones on the other side so they can ladder on the wall and go cap the points without the enemies moving back
I half expected an oxyotl and chameleon skink campaign when I read skink only. Though I guess that would've been way too easy for the point of the video lol
1:08 "We're gonna need to be very careful and use Skink skirmishers. We would really wanna use 100% of their ammo before they get into melee" *Proceeds to send them straight into melee*
I would say its a very viable idea, but the Lizardman need a few more skinks to fill the role to be able to truly fill a full on skink army, maybe armored skinks with halberds, skinks with spears for certain and light skink cavalry.
@@kvltofsobek90 The Ark of sotek is essentially an upgraded Bastila which works wonder with my strategy of "get the beast into the middle of a formation", the Ripperdactyls are also great as heavy support and anti archerers and artillary but I meant lighter options or atleast lighter options compare to the Saurus cavarly. But the monsters do compliment the lizardman very well, sure the lack of sustain infantry range weapons is not there aside from specific units, but who needs range when you have a big freight train of a dino?
AI sacking instead of occupying it is something that happens to me often, like also when it doesnt make much sense to do so (Vlad recently lost 10 settlements to me and was left with 3 and then sacks the one he managed to win, like wtf
@@BrilliantStupidity You know what? I'd enjoy that lore.. They don't want to be outshined by the saurus oldbloods, so they build dyno costumes and pretend they're also big and strong..

It isn't so bad if you can get to chameleon stalkers... They have super strong resistances and can get crazy MD. They're like having baby iron breakers once you push their stats far enough
11:10 I disagree. Maybe capturing one control point could also capture the nearby towers, but not all of them, that would be too easy and unbalanced. Imagine the skavens garrisoned in the towers suddenly shooting at their allies for no specific reason other than loosing only one capture point 😆 At least if it's only the nearby towers it would make sense because it's like the lizards are slowly taking control of them and replacing the skaven with their own kind 😁
I don't know how you can enjoy Very Hard Battle Difficulty, I played a few campaigns with it initially and while it isnt broken and still easily winnable I just find it way to frustrating when a unit like Skavenslaves just is effectively unbreakable and fights to the last man...or rat I suppose. It falls in the frustratingly difficult section for me.
Because I've done it before with Oxyotl and honestly, it was easier than using other units. I do these for the challenge, and he just makes them too strong lol.
@@BrilliantStupidity makes since to me, I saw the title and thought it would be super easy because of oxyotl. In my campaign with Oxyotl I ended using only skinks because of how fun it was, and because they seemed more powerful than everything else until later in the game when you can afford Doom stacks
Because their best option is skinks anyway, so it wouldn't really be a challenge. Oxy makes chameleons into a proper doomstack and I really think the rites of sotek make things more interesting.
I'm currently editing the next episode of the Goblintide, it should be out by around Tuesday. I really like having 2 campaigns going at the same time so that nether of them get stale.
I watched every one of these challenge campaigns now, and i gotta be honest, this one seems kinda boring. I mean shit, _you_ even sound bored in the recording. And it was bugging me, not that it wasn't as hilarious to watch or as fun, but the _why_ of it. Why does it feel less exciting? And i think i figured it out. Basically, i think it's because "Skink Only" essentially just boils down to "Archer Only" which isn't really that much of a challenge, y'know what i mean? Like, it's a game that already has an extremely heavy ranged meta, and you're using almost exclusively ranged units. Couple that with the fact that the only ranged units you can use all have 360 degree firing + fire whilst moving, and it takes any possible downside to being forced to use only ranged units away. Like, it was almost a similar issue with the "Peasants Only" campaign, but that was made exciting by the Peasant Economy factor. I'm sure that made it like 1000x more infuriating to actually play, but it made it _SOOOOO_ much more entertaining to watch. Also, the inclusion of the trebuchets and the fact that alot more units than most people think are counted as peasants made that quite an interesting/exciting watch. Similarly, the "Guns Only" campaign could've had the same issue, y'know? I mean it's quite literally 'ranged only in a ranged meta' but because gunpowder units (for the most part) must be stationary fire, and have much lower rates of fire than their non-boomstick counterparts, it made for pretty interesting gameplay. And yes, I know the ranged meta was alleviated in WH3 with the buffs and changes made to melee units, but it still holds true that generally speaking the ideal army composition for pretty much every faction is gonna be between 1/2 and 2/3rds of every stack being ranged infantry. Idk, i just thought it was an interesting thing to point out. I love the videos you put out, i'm still looking forward to finishing watching this whole campaign too, even if it seems like you're a little bored with it. By far one of _the most underrated_ Total War: Warhammer channels on TH-cam, and i genuinely mean that. Only found your content like yesterday or the day before, and once i finish watching this Skink Only campaign i believe i'll have watched every video you've put out. Can't wait to see what you make next.
Why aren't you explaining WHY you are picking the lords? Who are the best choices and why aren't you picking them? It's just it's so irritating to get no explanation on what you doing and why, it turns me off the rest of the video.....It's like "he is my favorite lord!", ok but WHY??? At this point for me the video is over. It's like being cock-blocked from enjoying the rest.
I did explain it while playing but cut it out in editing. I might make a second channel to upload longer versions / lightly edited gameplay. I typically cut 3-6 hours of gameplay down to ~20 minutes, so there need to be some compromises. I could definitely see the appeal of a longer, more in-depth cut as well, maybe 30 minutes per hour of gameplay or something like that, only cutting the most boring bits.
@@BrilliantStupidity Mate, don't' get me wrong - I am not asking for loner version. Just 2 minutes at the start to explain the set-up : Which lord is best, why you are choosing this one, what does it do to help. Literally 2 min of summering it up, so we can follow. When I have no idea why you are playing what you are playing - it simply makes people feel disconnected from what's going on, like a teaser :D

Skink armies are so economical. You can pump them out and have two skink armies just go around taking care of business, in every direction.

As much as this Lord T buffs skinks, I feel like oxyotl would be just as good a choice with the +50% armor piercing bonus to all the skinks.
