There's more than one path to Zeppelin. Welcome to the club. They are one of the most musically diverse groups ever. Check out something live by them to see them in action. How Many More Times from their first tv concert for Denmark radio is a damn good start. It's all good though. th-cam.com/video/wEPog_WdPE4/w-d-xo.html Enjoy the rabbit hole.

They went Medieval on the 70's!
We woulda hung out in the 70s in high school...good times would've been had.
    Exponential fun.
We ALL got along. All of us. East TN too. Best part.

The anthem of the 1970's. I'm sure someone has probably mentioned how well the Wilson sisters paid homage to this when Led Zep was honored at the Kennedy Center.
    Hah! 9:15.....CLASSIC, man!

You should watch the tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center honors! Heart ( the female band) plays Stairway to Heaven to honor Led Zeppelin in front of them! They love it! Robert Plant even had a tear in his eye!

Stairway to Heaven begins with a guitar and flute sound, perhaps music found in the middle ages. Then the guitar builds and becomes more modern. Then the percussion drives the beat to synchronicity. Then we have the change with the electric guitar sole bringing the song to climax. This song is as close to making love to a beautiful woman as I have ever experienced. It would be a tragedy if you failed to experience this song sometime in your lifetime.

The recorder was played by John Paul Jones amongst other instruments on this track. He was one versatile musician that could play many instruments.

Lies, all lies. The 'flute' part was played on a keyboard instrument called the Mellotron.

    • @darrencooke4207
      @darrencooke4207 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Lies, all lies. On the album, version John Paul Jones played a bass, soprano and tenor recorders and harmonised them together while mixing. When live he played it on a keyboard. There is no way that even the wonderful melotron would get the absolutely perfect reproduction of real instruments. Whilst it used any sound put into it, it can't reproduce the perfect way each note blends into the next. Get your facts right first!

I've heard this song hundreds of times, but I never noticed before how much the instruments sound like singing. Not like a human voice, necessarily, but still singing.
My favorite part is towards the end. If you listen carefully, you'll notice that the lead guitar is slowing down at a different rate than the other instruments, and the song sort of slides apart for a few seconds. Genius.

John Paul Jones was a session musician/bass player for several years along with Jimmy Page. We he heard that Page was starting a new band from the ashes of the Yardbirds he called Page and asked to join. Plant brought John Bonham and the rest is history. Dazed and Confused.

I have been listening to the Led Zeppelin since I was 14 years old, and your reactions are awesome. The one thing that none of the reactors mentioned is that they were 20 years old when they cut their first few songs. To make that kind of awesome music at that age and immediately rise above every other band that's what's incredible

Sit down, shut up, Master Class is in session...I was given a gift of a few words from my grandfather once when I was young. He told me as I go through life, to listen to every little piece of music that I could get my hands on, regardless of what kind of music it was...just LISTEN to it. For, "discovery" only happens once, so kick your feet up and ENJOY. Because you're only gonna have that feeling just ONCE. I'm fifty-five now and have learned those words apply to everything in life. So, I would tell you to ENJOY every second of everything. Those "seconds" are a gift...

In the early days of the band, Jimmy Page helped Robert write the lyrics to many of the songs.
Then Robert said, hey Jimmy, hold my beer, and proceeded to pen the lyrics for Stairway.
After Robert wrote the lyrics for that song, Jimmy basically said, Ok, Bobby, you write the lyrics from now on. I'll play the guitar.

If you hear a different instrument, in a Zeppelin song, it's almost definitely JPJ. Either playing that instrument itself, or recreating the sound on his synth. Some Zeppelin songs sound as if a whole orchestra is accompanying them but it's JPJ. The main exceptions to this 'rule' are when Robert is on the harmonica, when Jimmy is doing something mad with his guitar, including playing it with a cello bow on a few songs, or when it's Jimmy on the theramin. For the theramin, it's probably easier for you to search for a video of someone playing it, rather than for me to attempt an explanation. :)

Recently Robert Plant says he hates this song and wished he'd never written it.
    1. It's very hard.
    2. It's very long.
    3. He has to sing it "EVERY FUCKING NIGHT!"
Imagine going to their concert and NOT hearing it! There would be a riot.
I was one of those kids that would get with friends and play a 45 backwards:
"It's just a spring clean for the May Queen" backwards is "six six six
John Bonham(RIP)'s Son Jason plays drums for The Circle. They can play Van Halen because

Robert Plant has recently said that as he hears those lyrics that he wrote when he was 21 he would never write today. He says that that's not really who he is. He said it's kind of funny when you're young and where your mind is at that age. He said don't get me wrong. This is a beautiful song. Jimmy's composition is fantastic.

All that glitters is not gold. Not all who wander are lost. Go through their entire catalogue in order and learn. The only thing is Zep often blocks songs. Still, if you do this, you'll be hard pressed to find a song of theirs you don't like. The most precious metal isn't gold, silver or anything else...it's Led.
