Their lead guitarist is a master and knows just when to use acoustic guitar and when to switch to electric guitar to get the perfect balance of sound. My recommendation for your second listen: “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.” That one also starts off mellow with acoustic guitar, then goes large, then back to mellow again. I’m sure other commenters here will suggest more songs. Led Zeppelin was a hit factory back in the 70s so there are a ton of good songs out there. I predict that each new 70’s era rock band song you hear will make you want to hear more. The musicians of that decade actually influenced each other to produce better songs and the result was a ton of legendary compositions. Enjoy the ride, man.

It will take you to depths like never before if you let it. Determined by the spiritual condition of your heart and soul. One of my favorite songs ever. The production values back then, when they only had 8 or 16 tracks, puts today’s production values to shame. Never over produced, clean, clear, and each band’s songs were as totally unique from each other as much as each band was unique from every other band. The sonic landscape of the later 60s and early 70s set a bar that has never been reached since.

Everyone played this album at their parties, smoking and toking, no party was complete without listening to Stairway to Heaven. 40 plus years later my reaction to this song is more like what you're hearing and feeling for the first time but without the cloud of pot smoke fogging up the memories of what this song has meant to so many of us members of the stoner generation and beyond.

1981 is when I got the full plate of Led Zepplin(only knew what was played on the radio at that time). 15 years old, sitting in a small hut with a male friend of mine, with a record player ( his mom did not allow the music in her house lol) and just had my mind blown that weekend listening to Led Zepplin’s greatness from the first album on.

You're right, you can't listen to it just one time, that's why we were fortunate enough to get to listen to it 5 or 6 times a day on the Album Rock stations back in the day. Growing up in the 70s Stairway To Heaven was etched into our minds. It's been voted number one countless times as being the greatest rock song of all time.

The group Heart did a cover of this song in honor of them at the Kenney Center Honors so please check that one out . Normally, the singer, Robert Plant, didn't like it when other groups did this song, but they were fine with Heart doing it. Great reaction!

You're right, you can't listen to it just one time, that's why we were fortunate enough to get to listen to it 5 or 6 times a day on the Album Rock stations back in the day. Growing up in the 70s Stairway To Heaven was etched into our minds. It's been voted number one countless times as being the greatest rock song of all time.

I appreciate that you listened to the slow build-up as intently as you listened to the crescendo of guitars & vocals at the end. This song gets recommended a lot, but many people seem too impatient to get to the showy part to really enjoy the thoughtful ballad part. But it's a whole song. Very meaningful & you're right in that it takes a few listens to fully unpack it.

Man, every reactor and their mom does a Stairway to Heaven video... but your subtle facial expressions destroy them all. You were deep in thought and really listening. I can tell. It wasn't some clown loud reaction to get views. You were right to say this is art. All music is art, but this is a masterpiece. It's easily one of the most beautiful songs ever written. You were also right to say that it will take 8 or 10 listens to get down to the level where you can even start to decipher this poetry. It's kind of Shakespeareian. I've known the song and the lyrics for decades and I would be a fool to say I have it completely figured out. It was cool as hell to be able to see you enjoy it for the first time. Keep this shit up. You can be old school hip hop head all day, but no music touches peoples souls like some epic classic rock.

Everything about this song is a masterpiece and probably known to be the top rock-n-roll song of all time. So glad you've discovered it! The group Heart did a cover of this song in honor of them at the Kenney Center Honors so please check that one out . Normally, the singer, Robert Plant, didn't like it when other groups did this song, but they were fine with Heart doing it. Great reaction!

I love the music and the lyrics but I once read where a critic said that Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin songs were like hippie lyrics, and I totally understood what he meant because the lyrics, I know they're British and they speak different than me here in California. The hippie lyrics, if you could think of it that way and not try to put a whole song together, even though it all comes together, it's a good way to think about it, or, it's been a good way for me to think about or enjoy it anyway, I love watching your responses bro.
