I have a very strong nostalgia for the opening ads that played at the beginning of the Jurassic Park and The Mummy VHS tapes. Land Before Time 2 as well. Kinda makes me want to buy some copies.
I lived during the great streaming transition, I am the one who rode his bike to the video store to rent sometimes they come back. VHS will never die .
Another reason, is VHS is technically not obsolete. Meaning, that there are some movies that are only on VHS and have not been remastered to a more modern format like blu ray. Cinemassacre pointed this out in a video and I belive Red Letter Media has some things in their collection that are only on VHS
Why do i collect vhs tapes? Because i love ❤️ the vhs format.I always will.I even collect vhs players.Nothing like putting a vhs tape in my vcr and eating popcorn 🍿 🙂✌🏻❤️🍿
True! I watched a more called rejuvenatrix (AKA The Rejuvenator) recently on tape! Super shlockly and i could not find it on dvd...the full vhs rip is also on youtube for free
It is true! Fire stick TV connects to HDMI TO S-video converter and installing Kodi on Fire stick allows to "cast" videos from your phone while preserving aspect ratios. Hope you have a nice day, enjoyed the video!
I use to collect old Vhs kung fu movies up to the mid-2000s, but got rid of them. I liked the box art because back in the day the presentation, graphics, and cover mattered. Now they are just lazy with modern releases unless it's an indie label or special edition.
Not only do I enjoy watching VHS movies I purchased in my high school or college years, I still scoop up VHS movies from local thrift stores (Goodwill, Value Village, and Salvation Army Thrift Stores) for roughly a dollar each and play them in thrift store-purchased JVC Super VHS ET VCRs that I got for as little a $5 each to a maximum of $14.99 each (compared to their original retail prices of over $500 or more per unit back in the day) and I also play movies in my eBay-purchased VHS camcorders for some extra nostalgic fun. In fact, I watched Universal Pictures' 'Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein' on VHS several months ago using one of my Panasonic VHS camcorders hooked up to a free Panasonic LCD TV (that a neighbour had thrown out one garbage night) and had an absolute blast. :)
From New York USA here. Here the VHS collecting is niche but it's alive and well. The most collectible is horror which usually commands the higher prices. I have like 2,000 VHS my Holy Grail are 250 VHS imported from Venezuela. Long live VHS!🫡
I've enjoyed watching plenty of VHS movies projected onto my 120 inch projection screen while listening to them using a 5.1 surround sound system and not once did I wish the resolution had been sharper or the sound more engaging. For example, I watched Disney's 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' (1937) and was blown away by how beautiful that VHS tape looked, by how sharp the images were, by how vibrant the colours were, and by how terrific the voices and music sounded. So, VHS tapes are not garbage at all if movies are released by reputable companies (versus public domain transfers which are mostly awful, washed out, etc.). :)
VHS actually has a resolution of 240 horizontal lines. Those of which should probably be seen on a CRT as that's the technology they were made to be seen on. Then they actually look pretty good, they don't shine on a CRT TV like DVD and LaserDisc does, but they are okay. In addition, hifi stereo tapes are remarkably good in terms of audio quality but prone to dropouts more than the linear tracks (those of which are admittedly crap quality).
I still buying vhs tapes off eBay 7 days off the week more healthy on my VHS tapes than Disney plus vhs tapes keeps me moving more greater than Disney plus does
I don't find VHS to be awful in terms of video or sound quality. Granted, the video quality is not as sharp as DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K, but it's reaching a point with 4K specifically where too much detail detracts from movies of the 70s and 80s, especially for horror or sci-fi movies where any flaws in makeup effects or matte paintings or blue screen or green screen compositing, etc. become far more apparent. VHS resolution hid a multitude of sins visually-speaking. :)
"Inferior versions of films" 😂 I won't even bother watching this video. Just like with audio formats, better and worse are 100% subjective. You're confusing higher fidelity/higher resolution with "superior."

Millennials; we are the generation of nostalgia.
Boomers are too
@martinlutherkingjr.5582 ♥️ for boomers
This is comical. Everyone experiences nostalgia when they reach a certain age. It isn't a "millenial" thing. 😆
@fclefjefff4041 thats probably what I was trying to say without realizing 😅
Watching this on my CRT
Maaan i wish this was true
