UPDATE: Apparently the focus throw and linearity of the manual focus is something you can customize using Tamron's lens utility. Mine just happened to be set to 180d and linear thanks to the person who had it before me. *cough* Lee Zavitz *cough* 🤓👍

That f2 with that zoom range is pretty sick. I enjoy the 24 mm focal length so starting at 35mm would be a deal breaker for me, but if you don’t care about wider than 35 this is perfect. This is like the perfect portrait lens. It’s also an amazing street photography lens if you don’t mind using zooms instead of primes.

Yep, I’ve been watching and have been subscribed to Dustin Abbott for at least a year now. He makes very thorough videos on lenses and other camera gear.

Excellent and truthful reviews from Dustin Abbott, and really appreaciated your shoutout to him. Both reviews from you guys on the 35-150 was spot on to my experience in using the lens, and really did some justice to one of the earlier negative review on lens regarding AF, which I believe was either a bad copy out of the box or was bottlenecked by the A7R4 with its slower AF than A1/A7sIII and had unrealistic expectations on it.
That said, the AF of a dedicated 70-200 would be more reliable for fast action with naturally lighter elements to move around and OSS for panning shots, but this lens would definitely get the job done nonethless. Ive shot a small sized soccer game with this with 80-90% keepers

This sounds wonderful lens for weddings! It does what I need from 35mm f1.8 and even more. The versatility of zoom lens without the typical problems of zoom lens is a plus. Not sure if 85mm f1.8 is needed anymore unless 1.8/1.4 is so important at 85mm vs 2.8. Could pair fairly well with 85mm f1.4 if shots at dark wedding receptions are needed.

I think having 85 1.4 still makes sense vs 2.8 if 85 is a focal length you use a lot. 35 or 50mm make less sense

Can you do a review of Tamron's new 28-75 v2 and how well that does for video?

I really hope that we Canon shooters will also be able to get this lens! This seems so perfect for wedding photography or run`n`gun video.

Thank you G. Do you think you can cut between this lens and other manufactures lenses? Sony, Sigma etc

Have read numerous reviews of this lens.
Tamron is really kicking goals with new releases.
I tend to shoot wider. 35 mm is just not wide enough for me- 24mm is really a must.
    We all differ.
Distance is ok ,not that I shoot long often ,but imagine Tamron sell a 1.4converter.

As always excellent Reviews, thoroughly Perusing the device or item to fully dish out the Cons and Pro to your faithful Audience (Me).
I bought the Accsoon CineEye 2s pro after watching your Reviews of the HDMI version, just Like I bought the Z-CAM after your review, I bought it knowing exactly what am getting myself into.
Now I really need you to look into the New Hollyland Cosmos C1 with latency of 00.04 Seconds Wireless Video transmitter.
Looking for something to pull focus that will not beak the bank..lol
    Thanks 😁 😊

How do you feel this lens compares to the Sony 70-200 f/2.8 GM II? How does the IQ compare in the range where they overlap?
