In this video I give my personal guide to how to find other people who believe in the old gods. Having started the Wisdom of Odin from nothing only a year ago. it has quickly grown to over 4,000 followers, many of whom actively practice the norse faith.
In this video I will cover the different types of social media you can use when finding a community that is right for you including Facebook,reddit, twitter, discord, TH-cam, and Instagram.
I will also share with you how I came out of my shell and began presenting my faith in a more forward way in public in order to find others.

I was walking into WalMart and saw two guys walking out, one wearing a Mjolnir pendant. I said loudly, "What are you wearing that stupid necklace for?! You need to accept the Lord as your personal savior...!" Almost started a fight til he saw my Mjolnir and realized he was being pranked...lol! Then i said, "Well met, brother", and we shook hands.
My very first tattoo was my Vegvísir because the bearer who wears it "will never be lost, even in stormy weather and even when the way is known to no man"

I love how much paganism is growing. Im a cashier in Utah (which is historically very conservative and LDS) and I meet at least one pagan a week at work, usually because they comment on my Mjölnir pendant. It is so great that its growing the way it is!

This past winter during Yule I went to a bookstore with my Mjölnir on and one of the employees noticed. He told me that he understood and related to it. I got the sense that he was heathen. I’m a very reserved and anxious person so I just nodded and smiled, but I realize I probably should’ve talked to him about it more. I will try harder next time!
I've had the opposite of that. I used to be a cashier and would see someone with a mjolnir, I'd ask where they got it and it's "Oh, Wish I think. I like that Vikings show" and I get disappointed. I did find one Odinist that way, but he just spoke in norse and stormed off after I asked.

Such a useful and pragmatic video, especially in regards to avoiding the elitism and egos of many out there. I'm in eastern Oklahoma, and like many in the Bible belt, we tread carefully due to the very real dangers (familial, social, and professional) that potentially await us should we reveal our passion for the old ways.
TH-cam really is incredible for learning more or even just helping to find some direction with paganism. When you feel the call of the spirits or the gods, it can be really difficult to know where to learn more, what books to read, etc. Also, Jacob's Patron Discord server is amazing. I don't really "know" anyone yet, but have learned some cool things, had some great friendly interactions and already received some excellent advice.

So I am a Hellenistic Pagan myself I am in Pennsylvania. I don't know anyone around me that is a Hellenistic pagan. I love learning about other paths which is why I enjoy your channel so much. There isn't a big TH-cam community of Hellenistic pagans. I can name two. But I've seen so many norse pagans.

I recommend checking out the Huginnshof website since they have lists of kindred and groups that are around by state and country. From what I remember, Brazil has a good amount of collectives out there.

I have a hard time finding a place that I feel comfortable in groups, most I have found don’t seem very welcoming. I’m a trans man and just don’t seem to fit in with the groups.
I’m real sorry to hear that. That absolutely sucks. I have a hard time finding groups just out of introvertism and lack of known groups in my area, but if I had a group I promise you would be more than welcome. Don’t lose hope. Skål to you from a brother in South Carolina.
I feel you on that for the same reasons on top of having Japanese ancestry, so wanting to network with other pagans while avoiding the racist bigots can feel like walking in a field of landmines.

Im fairly new to paganism and found out a guy i started working with a few weeks ago at a new job had a mjolnir pendant and i walked up to him after getting off and asked what it meant to him if it was cool gift or if he believed in and or followed paganismand hes been practicing for over 20 years. And got into it from a accident out in the woods getting list and a big story but its really cool with the theory where when your looking for something it will start popping up out of the woodworks

About the Facebook, it's so true, and tik tok is also like that as well. That's why I sort of don't reach out to other Norse pagans. I rather learn more first as an individual. Than reach out to others.
I am a Norse pagan in north texas and I’ve met multiple others at bars. Some because we were wearing mjolnrs or because we had the same Norse tattos. It’s a lot of fun meeting new friends and fellow Norse pagans.

I once got excited to see a man wearing a triple goddess symbol with a pentagram in the middle circle (not Norse, I know, but Pagan), and I tried to start a conversation with him. "Oh, I got that at Spencer's cuz it looks cool. Why, what does it mean?" I was SOOO embarrassed and upset. I understand, but dude, these are sacred symbols and how we find our tribe, don't be surprised that people assume you're Pagan.
I know the feeling. I run into more people who think our various symbols are cool things to wear but have no idea that they mean something very important to us.
Yeah, it's irritating. It's just a symptom of our traditions not being considered a valid religion and more of an "aesthetic". He had that punk rock look, you know? Which is fine, but these symbols MEAN something. Smdh

My husband is as well, but tends to be on the atheistic side. And we don't get out much so we don't know many people. What are some good ways to find gatherings close to where you live?
Pagan of the gods of Northmen here in Arizona... I have met many others in real life here, but I find most of us are lone pagans... For anyone that would nit pick another person about their way of following the gods, our people performed most of their pagan lives with the gods in their own homes except on "high" holidays... Otherwise it's a private/family thing, so there will be lots of differences, so you don't have the right way, just your way...
