I‘m not a flipper so I love the if the watch will be „mine“ with fading and patina... every scratch is also cool (that doesn‘t mean I hit it on purpose to get scratches...)... I‘m super happy about the Aluminium bezel and dial decision of Tudor. A ghostly white blue will be a stunning patina and will give the watch even more character.

always appreciate your revealing macros esp as my vision deteriorates! 2 points: didn't initially realise the sticker on the side of the case (looked like funny polishing) and wrto bezel sound, the 60 clicks of the tudor differs to the 120 clicks of the rolex. i recently acquired the BB58 black and much prefer it to the blue as a more versatile and vintage vibe.

Great and thorough review as always, the Matt dual face is lovely and surprised with poor finish on hands not good enough, I prefer the aluminium bezel as I like the change in colour over time which will be my story. Privileged to own a Tudor GMT,
Tudor BBR and Rolex Hulk - having choice is the spice of life ! I also love the size as a daily for under the cuff as my other Tudor’s are better weekenders given size and my use. Keep up the great reviews !

Surprising review. I had no idea there would be flaws like this on a watch of this price. Although some might say an MSRP of $3,700 is not that much, I would say I would not expect to such so many scratches and dust particles coming from such a prestigious brand. This is the first video that has me rethinking a purchase of the Navy Blue. Thank you.

I tried this on a few days ago. I have a 6.3" wrist and I also find the watch a touch smaller than I'd like. It is appropriate, no doubt, but it's missing a millimeter in every direction except thickness. I also find it (and please forgive me Tudor fans) a touch boring for some reason. Missing a certain luxury, or polish, or specialness somehow. It's... simply functional. For me, the 40mm Submariner still wins in feeling perfect on the wrist and brings with it that certain joy of "damn, I'm wearing something NICE."

    • @fadiinspace
      @fadiinspace 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the SMP had the potential to be the best watch at it’s category and I tried to “love” it bit alas it has too many little issues that spoil it for me. Had it been 40or 39mm , had a tapering bracelet, and the hands were a little less skeletonized ( which would have improved the legibility) It would have been my champion. Bit the BB58 with all its negatives looks and wears much better on the wrist, just wish it had a matte ceramic bezel like the pelagos.

At around 9:45 in, you mention the size of the watch on your wrist and what size watch you appreciate. I want to comment on that. From my perspective, this size, and perhaps down to 36mm, is suitable and compatible with your wrist. Why? Because the bones/skin frame the watch and give it a place within which to sit. The analogy I think of of is a painting or photograph and how it is complemented by its enclosure, the frame. Without a frame and mat, the image floats and blends with the background upon which it is mounted. The eye does not focus as easily on it. With a frame and mat, the eye is directed and drawn into the image. I think this applies with watches and how they situate themselves in the small space on your wrist. If the edges of the watch overhang or dominate the wrist, the watch design and form is harder to digest. The watch sits on the space and not within the space.
I realize aesthetics and preferences are personal. You obviously identify and define what you personally like. That is how it should be. I just wanted to share a contrasting perspective.
Thanks for the review. I too own this watch and really enjoy it. It sits nicely within the frame of my 7.75" wrist.
    Take care,
    Michael

Thanks so much for your detailed comment and putting into perspective. I really appreciate and it’s enlightening :)
I’ve just kinda got to the state of mind where I wear just what I like, and I follow my heart. I have developed inclination to angular shaped watches and am personally a little out of love for conventional circular watches. I wear 35mm square watch and then I absolutely love 44mm octagonal ROO too.
But I generally like a watch to fill my wrist and show substance to my eyes. In the third person’s perspective, it does look big, but from wearer perspective, it just pleases me eyes very well.

I bought a BB58 Blue today and once unwrapped from its protective plastic I was disappointed in that although it's a beautiful watch the QC was a bit lacking. The bezel alignment is off and there is a stain on the boss of the second hand that I noticed straightaway and once seen can't be unseen. Saying that my 2019 Rolex 114060 isn't much better.

Another fantastic video, Hafiz. Great videography and informed content presented in a very measured approach. This is a great watch. Tried one at my Rolex AD a few weeks back and it was very comfortable. A good one-watch option and something that a buyer can get without a 3-5 year wait like that of the Sub. Agree with your assessment of the flaws, which for price and availability, I think buyers will be able to look past. Also, I never liked the artificial patina look of the dial on the black model while the blue is crisp and clean.

Amazing Review and superb shots! I especially like your ratio of subjective observations and objective feature overview.
I don't get the criticism on the aluminium bezel though.
First of all it fits into the "heritage" setting of the watch. The BB58 wouldn't make half of it's resemblance to the old models with a shiny ceramic bezel.
Also on many watches like the old Omega SMP's or of course the Rolex 4-digit and 5-digit reference pieces people pay for beautifully faded bezels, leave alone gorgeous pepsi bezels that faded.

  • @desmondoreilly1210

If I was to buy a 58 I'd ask to borrow a loom from the AD. The finishing on the hands and the dust inside the case was terrible, certainly for a watch at that price point. I hope that's the exception rather than the rule.

Chosen 41mm black bay black dial against BB 58 black. After trying both felt that actually BB 58 wearing too small for my 7 1/2 inch wrist. And don’t like the way bracelet tapered towards clasp. Those with below 7 in wrist may be ok. Regardless of what heritage thingy states, blue dial seems too blend and boring.

Very nice watch but would rather have a Seiko Captain Willard 😀
    Great video

Not going to lie, I thought the first bezel sounded awful. I own a Black Bay 58 so I was a bit confused Bevan’s I thought it was going to sound worse.

Not a fan of the whole black bay line, would prefer if Tudor expanded their more original lines like the Pelagos and North Flag rather than keep churning out Sub homages. Good review tho, Cheers 👍🏻

I think it’s starting to distinguish itself from the submariner slowly.
I myself personally am a fan of BB58, simply because of the smaller lugs and snug fit.

@@Khan-di1qh fair enough, tho it's not as original as either of those I mentioned. Wear what you love and love what you wear 👍🏻 Cheers

I have a planet ocean from 2006 with an aluminum bezel. It has not faded. I mean not at all. Zero. Not sure how long it takes to fade, but I’m on 15 years now

If it had a ceramic bezel, I'd buy it in a heart beat!
