Yes, wanted to play this morning (have not used my PS3 for a while) only to find out that the red light was gone. Took the power cord out and in again, reg light came on and started to play GTA5. After only 5 min. it went out, just like if the power cord had been removed. Took the power cord out and in again, then started to play again, same thing after a few minutes... Now, it even goes off while I am on the PS3 menu, even doing nothing... Still haven't found a fix....
holding the eject button doesn't always remove a stuck game. Sometimes you may have to hold down both the Eject and the Power buttons at the same time and then connect it to the power source. This help me, the light will go blue and then an internal fan will blow for about 10 to 20 seconds. By this time the CD should be ejected. Also holding the power button after connecting to the power source can help go into safe mode, which requires holding down the Power button whilst green until 2 beeps are heard from your console. On Safe mode, select the 3rd option which is 'Restore File System'...System will clean itself up, clear all corrupt files and the console should start as normal after this procedure

Can't thank you enough. Had no hope and felt like an idiot standing while pressing the power button and watching the clock counting till 30 seconds ended. Turned the power button on an bam. Bout to play black ops 2 and I’m cool with just campaign at this point. Keeps turning off. Edit: Just tried your technique and it still doing it. Still giving you a thumbs up since it helped you and some other people. I’m thinking my friends ps is old, maybe dusty inside(ports don’t look so bad). I took it off the surge protector and hooked it up straight to the wall outlet and still turned off. I’ll probably google some more options but I’m thinking this beast is RIP

I just tried your method on a fat ps3 & it worked. I was having issues with the game ‘Red Dead Redemption’. I had to restart the game each time it loaded & crashed. I tried the necessary options on safe mode & it did nothing to solve the problem…but this worked…thanks! & it really means & to me with the effort you made to put this video out.

In my case it was the optical drive being bad connected. I opened again and connected it better and started working fine again. Hope it helps ( probably other parts being bad connected can cause this issue too )

This is an awesome fix and worked on my 80gb fat ps3 and is a genius fix. Who knew that it was just the capacitors in the PSU that needed to be discharged in order for it to work again! 😱👍

When I play old games like, past CoD games, past Assassin's Creed games or just any old games my PS3 can stay on for the whole day, but when it comes to new games such as AC Rogue, LBP3 or Advanced Warfare it turns off by itself in like a few minutes of gaming, never has it lasted an hour with a new game inside.

Thank you soo much brooo I was disassembling my PS3 Slim 320GB to replace its CMOS battery and when I reassembled it and turned it on, it does the issue of turning on and off for a few seconds It made me lose my mind for a momenttt Thankfully I found this video and it is straight to the point! I also was going to try a power supply "fix" I saw on another video, but mine is a little different. So I've ordered a new power supply, same model as mine on ebay. Perhaps replacing it will fix my issue. Thanks, again, for those helping the ones who this worked for.
The only other thing I think I'm going to try is to reflow the motherboard. Now i gotta spend more money on a heat gun. It's really my only hope left, other than give in to Sony and spend God knows how much for them to fix it.

This is a power supply unit (psu) issue best to replace for about £10/$16 but can be fixed easy for free if you feel comfortable taking the console apart.

Stoliie if it is a fatty hold the ps3 power button down till u hear 3 beeps after the inicial beep like "power on beep then a few seconds later beep ........beep beep" then go to restart ps3 option because that will put the ps3 in safe mode so select restart ps3 then tell me what happens. this works on the fatty but im not sure about the slim

Yours is corupted file asher damian delete the game install and dlc of that game sync your trophies and then turn off ps3 then back on it should work.

The only other thing I think I'm going to try is to reflow the motherboard. Now i gotta spend more money on a heat gun. It's really my only hope left, other than give in to Sony and spend God knows how much for them to fix it.

I just tried it, held it down for 50 secs using my iphone stopwatch and it worked! I tried turning it on before i looked up this video and it wouldnt stay on for no more ten secs. So yea thanks Robert

For everyone watching this video do what he says on the video hopefully it works and turns on your PS3 when it does go to power save settings turn off those settings it solved the issue for me ever since let me know if it worked for anyone else 👍🏻

Hi is there anyone can solve my problems my ps3
just turn off twice and the red lights keeps blinking. I havent use my ps3 for a while. It's just odd why it happened. I was about to go watch film on Netflix and came up to need updating so updated it and tick turn off after updated after that it's started get funny. then 3rd round I turn on the ps3 it was like a sounds fan or heavy air coming from the ps3 so I get panic and shut it down. I dont think it's not overheating cos I just use the ps3 for about 15mins. and that's it. Please tell me what to do. I'm quite pretty scared to turn on and on my own at home. any ideas please reply ASAP!! THANK YOU!!!
It's probably because your internal fan is dirty.

You open it (taking of the top) and you will se it. (Cleaning it) just use Q-tips, like i did :P
This is a power supply unit (psu) issue best to replace for about £10/$16 but can be fixed easy for free if you feel comfortable taking the console apart.
Thanks, this is the first time I have had trouble with my ps3 since I brought it in 2009 lol so got a bit panicky as I still play it. I had to give it a good blow 🌬 out as dust was causing it to have the problem, I been forgetting to dust it and check cause of work.

Stoliie if it is a fatty hold the ps3 power button down till u hear 3 beeps after the inicial beep like "power on beep then a few seconds later beep ........beep beep" then go to restart ps3 option because that will put the ps3 in safe mode so select restart ps3 then tell me what happens. this works on the fatty but im not sure about the slim

You've gotta be kidding me. I had 2 PS3s with this same problem. After about 6 months I had given up. Traded in the first one and found this video the very next day. Fixed the problem.

My Xbox got red ring twice in 2 years. I've had a ps3 for 6 years and it's still fine.
thats funny to me because i went through about 5 360's with the red ring of death and most people i know who had the 360 had the same problem. they are machines and will eventually break down.
