This worked for me! However I wasnt getting to the second bip when I first tried it. I then disconnected the hdmi cable and follow the instructions again and it worked, after I saw the ps3 was stilll on, I connected the hdmi back on and started the file system restoration process. You do realise that when you restore your ps3 via the menu there, that it has nothing to do with your internet, all that is doing is restoring from the Hard drive so if it is slow or stops a little that's just because the hard drive is working, slowly, after all, they are only 5200rpm spinners, chuck an SSD in there if you can get a cheap one and watch that bad boy load and install super quick, your only using your internet when playing multiplayer or downloading updates.
TheGamerMLG . It all depends on the degree of damage of certain consoles. In ur particular case, this fix is not wirking. Like I said before, you're power supply might be damaged.

It's ur processor fault ...reballing the processor will fix it ..
Shut off during the process turned it back on and resumed when it finished and went to the home screen turned off two seconds later

I fix this after use a heat gun to blow in the power supply.
