Later around 2016 or 17, Toyota bought a significant portion & stayed sharing tech. Mazda has only seemed to improve from there, as might be expected. A 17 Yaris iA, however, is simply a Toyota badged Mazda 2.

Mazda is a niche product, so having a near-luxury product is an angle that will make more money, as long as they continue to sell cars. Making Mazdas that are just variations of Subarus or Toyotas does nothing to set them apart. The upmarket push is probably smart. The CX-5 we own is much nicer than what you get at Honda for the same money, even if the Honda has more room and higher mpg. The CX-90 is a step up when you look at competitors.

They are lusting after greater margins - it's nothing more than a cynical cash grab.
I believe "in between luxury and normal" is the needle that Mazda has successfully threaded the last 10 years.
Their strategy worked -- sales have increased YoY along with market share. They're tweaking it by trying to go more 'upscale'. They've stated so much and their latest lineup proves it.

P0126 code for the thermostat. It's a $400.00 part. A known problem of which the car dealers don't want to mess with. I have a 2019 CX-5 2.5 liter non turbo. The warranty is terrible. Other than that, it's a good car. Buying parts is expensive. Word of advice- Don't give any customer experience surveys if bought new from a dealership. They kept pressuring me to complete it quickly. I did, and things started going wrong with car, like reflectors falling off the vehicle. Then it's crickets out of these people. I have a small shop at home to do the repairs. I have a 2007 Ford Fusion with 330 thousand miles. A rebuilt transmission at 180 thousand miles. I think new and used cars for the next 3-5 years will just be expensive. In fact I'd even say the days of a good old decent (but maybe high mileage) $5,000 cars are long gone. Now it's like $10,000 is your new "$5,000" car. I remember my first car was $2500. Drove it for 5 years (it was a mid 90's Ford Taurus) and never had to do anything major other than brakes and tires after about a year. Ran decent. They obviously had problems (like burning oil and cooling issues) but you just let it go. Keep the oil and coolant topped off and it ran great for 5 years until I sold it to get the next car).

The only way to properly repair the differential is to replace the differential AND the transmission. Because it's still a reasonably sized engine. It's a 2.5 litre engine which isn't going to wear out and strain the engine for power. The only time a turbo is bad is when it's thrown onto a 1.0 or a 1.5 like ford does, I can speak from experience with that.

I wanted CX9 in past but Mazda was too expensive compared to Toyota. Also turbocharged and high octane gasoline makes even more spending overtime.
