    If you can find it, add a tablespoon of the adobo sauce from canned chilis in adobo to your chili. Its gives veggie chili a good umami flavor. I then freeze the rest of the sauce into tablespoon size portions for future prep. (If you use the actual chilis, they pack a punch. I recommend deseeding it if you have kids.)

    New sub here, so pleased to have found this as a busy full time working woman who wants easy meals for a grown up family to help themselves to of an evening straight out of crock pot on warm. We all want to eat more plant based meals and I wanted some dump and go prep but all I kept finding was poke bowls, bland looking veg and rice/legumes and salads. This is perfect and can’t wait to try. TY x

    I used paper storage containers for my postpartum meal prep. It worked out well. Frozen rice is so easy to warm up again. I loved doing saffron yellow rice. It really did save me so much. I portioned everything container to hold enough for two people. So you could eat a meal and save next day for lunch or share with hubs 😂.

    Hi first time on your channel today and i cooked all five recipes this afternoon. I really liked your meal prep. All recipes are similar in ingredients which made it easy. I was looking for a bunch of diners i could freeze to gain some time. I don’t like the taste crockpot give so I slow cooked every thing on stove top except the fajitas. And i freezed it once it was cooked. Seems it worked fine. Also i didn’t have any sweet potatoes on hand so i switched them for squash. seem to work fine also.

      Thanks so much Pamela! I do like the containers from Ikea but they were SO heavy when the full meals were assembled, I was honestly worried my freezer shelf might break. So I think I might have to go back to the bags unfortunately.

    • @SweetPeasSaffron

    • @opinionatedpolicyjunkie
      @opinionatedpolicyjunkie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought a few to test out, and LOVE them! They save the planet, and are a great portion size to take to work. I use them primarily for meals that are already cooked or need to be baked. Thy've been durable for me thus far and more affordable than the name brand. They also seal really well and don't spill, keeping food fresher longer :) Definitely worth the investment. I don't really get the point of "make ahead" and freezing when 75% of the ingredients are canned (like the chili)... just open the cans when you're actually making it.

      Look for organic or non GMO, Soy is healthy but highly Genetically modified, it costs more but when you are doing this kind of food prep you are saving so much money anyway and more healthy for you and your family.

      @SweetPeasSaffron  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      let freedom ring I wonder if regulations are stricter in Canada because all the tofu at my grocery store is non-GMO!

    • @sharongolden7773
      @sharongolden7773 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SweetPeasSaffron That's great, but not here in the US! When I became a vegetarian, I noticed I was very sensitive to soy products but fresh tofu that is organic and non GMO I can tolerate. Also now that I cook most of my meals from scratch and read all labels and avoid preservatives, GMO and buy organic as much as I can, I have no problems, so something about GMO non organic triggers my digestive system. My body is telling me to stay away from those things and once I realized that and shifted how and what I eat, I am so much better. I Love Canada and I do feel they have stronger regulations than the US.

    Can you help me out in trying to understand the measurements. I followed the link for the tikka masala and am trying to figure out what these are? Is that 1 teaspoon or half a teaspoon?

    ▢577.33 teaspoon paprika

      Hi Sophie! Yes, you can do that for all the recipes, although I think the fajitas would probably get a little soft after so you might not want to freeze that one. The others freeze great! I like to portion the butternut curry and the tofu tikka out with rice so all you have to do is thaw and heat in the microwave :)

    Thank you for this video! We’re no longer plant based but I still love to feed my family lots of healthy non processed foods. Plus, I can easily add some animal protein to these if need be. I was very put off when I saw other videos and every meal included canned veg and canned condensed soup 👎🏻
    Edit: that tofu tikka masala looks amazing 😻 definitely trying that one out

    Is it necessary to thaw before placing in the crock pot?

    • @SweetPeasSaffron
      @SweetPeasSaffron  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For meat-based recipes it is necessary for food safety reasons to thaw completely before cooking but for these plant based recipes I think you’d be ok! I would just make sure it’s in a shape that will fit in the slow cooker. But disclaimer- I’ve only cooked these from thawed ☺️

    • @SweetPeasSaffron
      @SweetPeasSaffron  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They worked really well and are my go-to these days HOWEVER they are very heavy and do take up space. So if you are prepping 10 meals at a time they won't work probably.

    • @sudeshnapodder5876
      @sudeshnapodder5876 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sweet Peas Saffron I can understand. But I had health issues, somehow related to plastic usage, specially in the microwave. To be on the safer side, I have replaced all of my plastic boxes with glass and stainless steel containers. Nothing is more imp than health when have to you go through it.

      Paradiso Perduto it should be ok to reuse bags for these recipes since they are plant based!
