I sell these on ebay and i sell them without the lock out cable that you see on most others. This video details why.

This video got me out of a pinch!! Truck would not ho back in park and there wasnt a video around showing what i needed until this. My spring broke and was keeping the shifter from being able to return to park. Thanks for this!! Dont happen to have one thatll fit a 2002 GMC Yukon XL do you?
My column shifter mechanism broke in drive. 98 Chevy Taho 4 wheel drive automatic. How do I fix that please.
For the pin lock cable removal on the shifter machanism turn the key to acc position it will slide right out. Must be in ACC or one turn back from off to slide it in or out. Make sure u undo the keeper clip .
I keep seeing people saying this, but what about the newer trucks that don't have accessory position in key back? It's on notch forward on them. I saw several questions about this on another video but no answer. I'm looking at doing this soon on my truck.
My cadillac escalade just died as soon as i went from drive to reverse and i had to tow it to my house but i noticed that i got no shifter indicator light and my gas gauge is not working so any idea if i need to replace that part?
Can you just replace the spring for the shift lever?
My vehicle back out and then it went into drive and then the gear shifter just moves freely and it will not go back into park and once I turned it off it’s stuck in drive

My GMC will not go past D into M. I pull the shifter towards me and it just won’t go past D into manual mode. Would this fix solve that problem?

I have a question. I got a 02 Silverado HD and the cable broke and I installed i a new one. and ever since I replaced it, it takes a lot of effort to shift out of park especially on a hill and also the gear selector doesn’t lock when you turn the ignition off. I’ve tried adjusting it the cable but it just makes it worse. Any ideas on what the problem is?

Hi. Are it possible to get the hands on the spring and are it big problem to swapping it out?
i found a way to replace the spring but its not the factory way , i had a rusted up shifter used its spring since no others avalable, drilled the end while part was out, at a very odd angle leaving a place for the spring to sit ,but room to work it in with a small flat tip screw driver and then pluged the hole with a allen screw type plug, 2 weeks so far so good. easer to buy a part and swap , but i had to try it the cheep way . just now my park light don't stay on , didn't before I started the repair , but did before the spring broke and i kept driving with a flopping shifter.
Apparently people are using GM spring # 7812853 and cutting it down... You knock out the pivot pin for the piece that holds the shift lever. The pin only comes out one way,one side is bigger. The pin and the side you drive it out from is at 2:02 right next to the lower blue mark. I use a drift/punch but you can use a screwdriver. I think you have to take that plate off too,been i while... Then you can move that piece enough to get the spring out and replace it.
Both "hop links" to eBay I tried didn't work. Do you have any available?

last 2 day I replace ignition switch and I turn off key but it stuck can't take key out,I try removal cable gear shifter and it turn off but can't Put back cable gear shifter.

What if my shifter had a lot of slop, and was having to hold the shifter up to get it too start, and now holding it up won't start it anymore, would it still be the shifter or the lock cylinder.
Maybe your cable needs to be adjusted. It adjusts down at the transmission under the truck. I've never done it but i'm sure there's a video of how to do it on here...
You'll see a black plastic thing with wires going into it on the trans behind where the cable fits on. That has the neutral safety switch in it which won't let the truck start if it's not in park or neutral. If your cables not adjusted right it won't put the switch in the right position.
@@myutoobaccount2 mine goes in every gear, it's my neutral safety switch. I'm going to replace it tomorrow.

Just go to hardware store buy a similar size stuff spring and keep cutting it down little by little till it fits in tightly.

NO that cable is the only thing stopping your truck from shifting into gear when its off. If you remove it, you can move the shift lever into gear when the truck is off and itll roll away
I don’t have mine on and have been drive 07 Tahoe like that for years yes of course you can shift it with vechile off but who does that?
