Thank you so much for this video! I followed the steps in your video when changing the rear brakes (pads & rotors) on my G01 earlier today here in Germany, and it all worked! There's other channels that show the same job, but I found yours to be the best and clearest. The only thing I changed to your sequence is that I installed the break pad wear sensor into the pad more towards the end of the job before replacing the caliper. That way, I felt I had a little more control over the actual insertion of the sensor into the pad. Also, for those reading this that are planning to use Bimmerlink to put the EPB into service mode, note that even though the app may give you an error message telling you that the putting-into-service-mode was unsuccessful, it actually works without a problem (you can hear the EPB retract when enabling service mode, and deactivating service mode also works (again, you can hear the motor working)). I am planning to replace the front brakes on my G01 next summer, and I'll be sure to return to this channel for the instructions.
I saw another video of someone who took off the electronic parking brake and compressed the caliper by using a torque bit. Is this possible? I used your other video to replace the front brake pads and rotors. Great tutorial!
Ok understood. Do you have any recommendations of a reasonably priced scan tool I could purchase? I wanted to get something cheaper because the car is a lease and goes back in a year. Don’t think I will end up leasing another bmw so I do not want to get to invested into a bmw specific tool.
great video, thanks. but because I do not have the diagnosis device, I will probably have to get this done in the workshop, otherwise pretty much straight forward, obviously being careful.
Excellent tutorial. What consumer grade scan tools will do the EPB reset? I just bought an Innova 5610 and it won't do it. I cannot justify a pro lever scanner to do a brake job.

Thank you. You saved $1k
Thanks for the video. I'll be tackling this job in the morning!
Awesome video - thank you! 🙏🏼

It may be possible, but not something we recommend as often times that can lead to damaging the EPB motor, or triggering warning lights on the dash!

The TopDon 600 is a tool I see many people suggest. What do you think?
My Foxwell NT630 plus did it. I got it for $149, but it’s currently on sale for $119. I should have waited lol@@jamesjounakos9979

Question pressing the brake pedal and then deactivate ?
Would this be the same for a X3 GO1 sDrive20i ?
Yes it would I have a x3 and a 540i 👍
Yes, as long as the vehicle is equipped with the standard (silver) brakes and not the blue painted calipers.
Similar process so long as it does not have sport brake calipers!
Is the scan tool fully necessary to put it into installation mode? Or is that a setting you can get to in the cars module?
Brian, on this vehicle the only way to put the rear in service mode for brakes electronically is with a scan tool!
@@fcpeuro So that means there is no other way of replacing the pads without putting them in this setting?

At least on F25, I used bimmerlink and veepeak obd
We have a more entry level Autel units available on FCPEuro.com that can handle the EPC! Thank you for watching!
