I own a sturhling antol skeleton watch. Owned it for almost a year and I wear it every other day. A beautiful piece and affordable. I recommend highly.
I love Stuhrling watches, Very good quality. I currently own two. The last one I bought pre-owned on eBay, kept it for a few years and sold it for almost what I paid for it. That makes them somewhat of an investment piece too
LOVE me some Stuhrling. I have a growing collection of their watches and, yes, auto-wind skeletons are what lured me in. I have 5 auto-wind skeletons and 2 mechanical skeletons along with an assortment of others including the excellent Swiss Automatic Depthmaster 883 and a Damier Tourbillon. I think they live up to their motto, "Affordable Luxury" very well indeed. Pro Tip: Browse "The Archive" pages. Not all the variants of each model will be sold out and you can snag some nice watches out of there. That's how I scored my beautiful Doppler 729.04: a hand wind, skeleton, bridge watch with a gorgeous rose-tone sunburst dial that the movement is set into. Great vid: very well shot and explained.
Absolutely love the Stuhrling brand. Own 4 total. 3 skeletons automatics still holding up very well several yrs later & 1 Prestige Swiss Made from their Prestige line. All good quality watches. Love the history story of the company too.
Thanks, Mark, for reviewing something that I actually own. I really enjoy all your reviews & your tutorials. Keep up the good work & congrats on your own Islander watch brand. I bought a rose gold plated Sturling Original Winchester 44 Skeletonized watch about 5-6 years ago. It looks more expensive than the $160 US I paid for it. I enjoy wearing it a few days per month even though I find it a bit oversized at 44mm. Overall, it keeps good time & looks great.
I could see giving one to a person who shows interest in mechanical watches. They arent for me but I could see my younger self mesmerized watching the movement.
Ive never had interest in them.. It all depends on the quality an brand name for me.. I am not talking omeaga or rolex etc.. When i mention brand name. But sterling just is not one of my watch brands.. I am not talking down or bad. About that company. But we all have our prefernces... I do own one open heart automatic 24 jewels. An i adore it.. Just wish it had a continous second hand.. It would have been the most perfect dress watch in my eyes.. Oh what could have been.
I've loved the look of Stuhrling as well and just bought a similar variant of the one presented. My only disappointment is the gear on top of the balance only seems to move when adjusting the time. My last Stuhrling, the DT Bridge 470 Automatic, that gear would actually move with the seconds!
What's your opinion on Boderry watches? Features: 1. Grade 2 Titanium Case •It has unparalleled corrosion resistance and is 40% stronger and 30% lighter than stainless steel-the current standard for watchmakers. 2. HANGZHOU customized AAA-level automatic movement; • Energy storage of 72 hours • Movement frequency of 28,800 times/hour • Movement error range: -15 to +30 seconds/ 24 hours 3. Double Sapphire Crystal(Front and Back) • We embedded two crystal Sapphires on the watch front and back. Unlike mineral glass, sapphire is scratch- resistant and even over years it still looks as new. Now you don’t worry your watch is knocked or scratched.
@Tyler Glen it’s great! It feels very comfortable on the wrist, it’s not too thick, and it looks very cool. The spring battery lasts 2 days, I don’t have to wind it often. Fits even my small wrist
I owned a stuhrling original about 10 years ago, and while it was beautiful, it was always off by a wide margin in telling the time, and the counterweight fell off inside the housing after just a month or two of light use. Maybe I got unlucky and just had a defect off the line, but it did put me off.
I definitely overpaid for one of these while on a cruise. Paid 290 for it and 149 for an invicta speedway. Was it worth it? Maybe because it will remind me on the fun cruise i had
I have similar open heart automatic dual time watch, chinese brand Lige - maybe the same mechanism, it has actually 2 springs, and when fully wound - the reserve is the enormous 83 hours! :) The winding system used is similar to seiko magic lever - winds very effective in both directions. I used it for 2-3 months and it had an issue, probably with the rotor/auto winding, the watchmaker replaced a part and it works great. The Lige watch cost at that time around 60 usd.
I was debating between three different cocktail times, the brown one, the blue one, and the silver one. Absolutely loving the 2nd watch in this video and since it has a silimar color scheme as the silver cocktail time, I think I'm going to go with the brown or blue one, most likely the brown. What do you think? 😊
Hey Mark do you know of any affordable dive watches with a 12 or 6 o'clock crown? There have been a few homages and remakes of a ZRC watch with a 6 o'clock crown but they were limited edition and higher priced.
Hi Mark.I have question as a similar minded mechanical head as you have ref The Moonwatch aka the Omega.I struggle with the idea that a mechanical escapement can run without constant re regulation in zero gravity ? It must run very fast ? It would regulate fine under gravity obviously as that would be its default.Without gravity is a weight off its shoulders? Any thoughts. Was Omega cashing in on this oversight at that time for something the average watch buyer would not consider? Anyway my tired mind never rests.Cheers .Len.
I think it's more of an inertia problem? Interesting point though. The natural freq of a spring breaks down to static deflection. For a balance running flat on Earth, there really isn't any gravity effect, is there?
@@islandwatch Thanks for your reply. You are right I think if flat but when vertically under gravity is surely when the balance wheel fights a tad. That's how we try to regulate them .I guess under zero gravity that would no longer be an issue so would surely run quicker whichever way up or down it was.I like your inertia point having said that with kinetics of a spring. I believe you may be right, the mainspring and hairspring have no effect under zero gravity? Its just the balance effects I can't get my head around.I guess if I go into space at some point?? Cheers.Len
@@islandwatch OK.Last thought which matches your flat balance.A bicycle wheel which is essentially the same thing yes will spin horizontally under inertia until bearing friction stops it randomly.OK put it vertically and it will always assuming a decent bearing race stop valve down due to that being the heaviest part of the wheel.Take gravity out you would not need to regulate I guess so a watch on earth must alter in space and then again on the low gravity of the moon if of course one ever did.Anyway thanks again but any more thought I would enjoy.
I think it’d be convenient if the minutes hand of the dual-time dial were linked to the minutes hand of the main dial, but still impressive what they can do at a pretty affordable price. Hope there are no tariffs on watch parts!
Would love to see you review a Weird Ape watch. I’m so on the fence about it as lots of people say it’s a cheap watch with an expensive price. I’m wanting my first skeleton
Damn boy that watch is T H I C C. Will be purchasing a Stuhrling Tourbillion. What I do not like about them is that they only offer ''GOLD TONED" watches. I want a full 18k band including the steel case.
I have a fully skeletonized watch it looks beautiful but it is so hard to read in anything but excellent light. Not my every day wear.Admittedly it is a much smaller watch in the 36 35 mm range.
These are no where near being stated as dress watches.... More like style watches... In my eyes.. Nothing wrong with them.. If thats your cup of coffee... For tatse..
Strangely, from all mechanical watches I own only one has a transparent case back. I wish they made more like this so I could show the movement to non-watch people. BTW, funny how stuhrling made these watches look like they have a tourbillon :)
Might mention how timely this video is. I'm looking to make my first mechanical watch purchase and had totally discounted these as Amazon junk. Trying to set my mind at ease because I'm loving the look of the movements.
Just saw that stuhrling had the last watch you showed(top spin) for $235. Is that the actual price or just some knock off? These watches look a lot more than $235
I have a trias skeletonized germasian... chinese movement but assembled in germany. I think the brand no longer exists. My favorite watch. I bought it in ebay about 10 years ago. That brand made some cool watches.

Have you made a video on all dual time watched you sell?
The thing that deters me the most is the name. It seems like it was made to sound german by someone who knows absolutely no german. If you live anywhere else that might not be a problem, but for me as a german, having only other germans who’ll probably think the same looking at it, it’s kind of a deal breaker.

"Swiss Made" means it was assembled in Sweden, but the movement is still a Chinese seagull movement.
Thanks for posting this video. I love Skeleton Watches.
Thanks.
That’s pretty incredible for the price. I think this is going to appeal to a whole new base for your store.

The thing is they don't last very long. I've brought a few of their skeleton watches

Trinidadmax don’t buy this brand unless you want to be held at the same level as invitations
I mean invicta
Oscar Cheng nothing wrong with neither brands
so how was it?im thinking abt buying one
I’ve been thinking about one of their dive watches. For under $100 I was curious if they were any good.
I have always wondered about stuhrling as a brand, been wary of buying them. Are they quality watches?
I have a stuhrling railwatch ie pocket watch i bought 2020
Itsskeletonized i love it!
I think. I have 5 of them 6 years and counting.
So how is the quality on these? I've been looking at the stuhrling watches for a minute. But I dont dig the leather straps
Then get new straps
If you like cheap, Chinese movements, like Seagull, that's what you get with a Stuhrling.

I'm obsessed with the first skeleton watch, but I can't seem to find it from its website.
i cant either, could u?
I have had 2 different Sturhling watches and on both....at times the crown pulls completely out of watch...is this normal?

I notice that the two watches with 42mm have the same case of some parnis watches that pay homage to IWC.
They might all come from the same factory.
It's surprising but I couldn't really find full skeletons from Orient or Citizen. Seiko only seems to has them under Credor

Did you notice the last watch had sloppy letters in “Automatic”? The M is not centered at all. For $300 you would expect them to at least center that.
