I tried messing around with it myself and ended up completely destroyed the watch unfortunately as I took it apart without any idea on how to put it back together. Now I feel motivated to give it another shot and check my bag of parts to see if I can try it again
You'll get a movement off of eBay. I replaced the module in my Tissot T-race after it failed right out of warranty. Be careful with the stems for the hands though, I did manage to break one of the sub dial posts.

I’ve never fully disassembled a watch, just some minor fixes on some rather large pocket watches, that said, I think this watch would be great practice for someone looking to get into the hobby. Would give you a feel for scale and how watch mechanics work.

Surprisingly, the cleaning and servicing of an extremely cheap watch is almost as interesting to watch as that of a fine one. Also, congratulations on exceeding 10K subscribers!
The amount of engineering you're getting for 17$ with this watch is mindblowing. It really is. That's the price of an armband for my casio quartz watch. Such a shame that nothing is lubed which will shorten the lifespan and ruin the accuracy.
hiya! just wanted to say that this channel pretty much sparked my interest in watches along with "wristwatch revival" on youtube. Keep doing the good work!
how they can even just assemble it all, nevermind fabricating all those small parts.. and ship it AND make a profit.. for 17 bucks That is impressive in its own right. You could not even make that single balance spring and assembly for that in the US or EU.
Just found your channel. I'm learning alot, thank you. I'm seriously thinking about getting some tools and starting this hobby. Looks fun. I've been getting a few picket watches, it would be fun to play with them and see if I could get them running better
@HorologyBiology Just need to find room in our van for it. We live in our van. It would be so fun as we don't watch TV or even own a TV. I already make jewelry, so it goes hand in hand. I'm thinking about putting a nice mechanical watch as the head stone on a walking staff.
@clarklindquist8137 That would be really cool. I’ve actually thought about that for myself many times as I’m quite hooked on watching van build videos on TH-cam
I've been looking for a channel that shows repair in good detail. It's almost unbelievable what you can get for a low price even though you had to fix it! Good luck with the channel and I am subscribed now.
My automatic watch, which I bought on AliExpress, has a 39-day calendar...including 00 day :) At the end of the month I have to set the real date manually.Since every day she is almost a minute ahead, it seems to me that it is just as badly put together as yours...Other than that, it looks fancy and I love wearing it...More than four years now.
yes, but japanese, swiss, chinese, indian, ect movements have minor differences in the arrangement of parts. an ali express watch movement likely wont have the same order in disassembly as your first swiss movement. but the practice is helpful and will teach you crucial skills.
I love all these videos. Horology biology is truly a wonderful educational experience. How he takes his time to go step by step to show you how its done. Unique. Thoughtful. Thank you for providing us with all of your content. To your success 🏆sir.
I'm gonna ask a question that you've probably hear a 1000 times. How do you remember where everything goes when you put the watch back together? Photos, video?
I think hes not just opening watches without knowing anything about movements. He probably doesnt need a video or Photos, i guess hes experienced enough to just build these watches.
I’m used to many watches and you get used to where everything lives. If it’s something I’m really not used to then a reference pic helps. The core components are just on memory nowadays though
For someone whose just learning to work on watches, I think for $17 it’s a good practicing watch, I mean for $17 who cares if you mess it up, at least you get to learn on it :)
@horologybiology I bought an automatic watch about 7 years ago. The company are based in Hong Kong. I am very happy with my watch. I've worn it almost everyday since. I paid extra for the watch to have a Swiss movement. It has sapphire glass. WR 300 metres. I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it. I think it was around 600 usd after currency conversion etc. I'd be interested to know if it actually is a Swiss movement etc. I'd be happy to send you the watch for your opinion or if you want to make a video. I'd need it back within 2 months though as I wear it every day and my arm feels naked without it. 😂
I had a "Winner" watch which was equally cheap. Out of the box. it ran 15 seconds fast. It had a screw-down caseback. I tried to tinker with it, and ruined it. I bet it used the same unlubricated movement as that Fngeen.

The amount of engineering you're getting for 17$ with this watch is mindblowing. It really is. That's the price of an armband for my casio quartz watch. Such a shame that nothing is lubed which will shorten the lifespan and ruin the accuracy.
Agreed. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks for the great video! I bought one of these in black because of it. Mine keep almost perfect time! Guess I was lucky.
The watch that kept on giving and all for $17. What a bargain!! Super Fresh!!
Regards from the UK!!
💪🏻💪🏻 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
hiya! just wanted to say that this channel pretty much sparked my interest in watches along with "wristwatch revival" on youtube. Keep doing the good work!
Great to hear! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel 👍🏻👍🏻
I mean, the production and supplies and engineering that made it possible to manufacture such a watch at 17$ is more impressive than the watch itself
As it’s mass produced and I’m sure they will make other watches as well. The supplies and production tools have probably paid for themselves now
how they can even just assemble it all, nevermind fabricating all those small parts.. and ship it AND make a profit.. for 17 bucks
That is impressive in its own right.
You could not even make that single balance spring and assembly for that in the US or EU.
I think this would be good for learning how to work on mechanical watches without risking too much money.
Exactly that 👍🏻👍🏻
One of the best watch channels on TH-cam. Keep up the good work!
Oh wow, thank you so much and thanks for watching 👍
Great fresh video. Good luck to all when you hit 10K!!!
Many thanks Robert, and thanks for watching as always 👍
looks like a standard Chinese movement with date complication and auto winder, might be better than you think.
👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for watching 💪🏻👍🏻
At $17 these are good practice watches.
It's amazing what $17 will buy you. Well done!
Thanks for watching 👍
I find this video relaxing to watch after a hard days work.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Kudos for taking on the challenge of servicing such an affordable watch!
Thanks for watching
The dial looks beautiful tbh
It’s very bright for sure
A crazy price but a cheap piece to start practicing on as you wouldn’t care too much about breaking it.
Exactly. I was thinking the same.
Exactly that
Just found your channel. I'm learning alot, thank you.
I'm seriously thinking about getting some tools and starting this hobby. Looks fun. I've been getting a few picket watches, it would be fun to play with them and see if I could get them running better
I would say go for it and start your 2024 with a new hobby 💪
@HorologyBiology
Just need to find room in our van for it.
Thanks for the sub and thanks for watching 👍
I've been following your channel for a while now and I'm so happy to see this video blow up and get so many more people exposed to your content.
Thank you very much. I must admit it has been a surprising week for me 😀
My automatic watch, which I bought on AliExpress, has a 39-day calendar...including 00 day :)
At the end of the month I have to set the real date manually.Since every day she is almost a minute ahead, it seems to me that it is just as badly put together as yours...Other than that, it looks fancy and I love wearing it...More than four years now.
Thanks for sharing :)
Seems like better value for money than any luxury watch
I wouldn't go that far 😂
Thats why I stopped buying genuine and tried the super clones. Unbelievable likeness.
Maybe about as accurate as the average Rolex.
Would this be a good 1st watch ti try and pull apart and put back together? Id like to try but i dont want to ruin something old or nice.
yes, but japanese, swiss, chinese, indian, ect movements have minor differences in the arrangement of parts. an ali express watch movement likely wont have the same order in disassembly as your first swiss movement. but the practice is helpful and will teach you crucial skills.
Yes for sure, because you know it runs when you bought it and parts are not worn.
I love all these videos. Horology biology is truly a wonderful educational experience. How he takes his time to go step by step to show you how its done. Unique. Thoughtful. Thank you for providing us with all of your content. To your success 🏆sir.
Thank you very much and thanks for watching and supporting 👍
Congrats on 10k subscribers. Well done, sir!
Thank you so much 😀
I'm gonna ask a question that you've probably hear a 1000 times.
For someone whose just learning to work on watches, I think for $17 it’s a good practicing watch, I mean for $17 who cares if you mess it up, at least you get to learn on it :)
exactly..
Totally! Great to practise on.Thanks for watching 👍
Not a bad deal! This would be a good watch for getting comfy taking a watch apart.
Exactly that! Thanks for watching 👍
Big congrats on hitting huge milestone, very well deserved
Thank you very much 💪🏻
Love the colour of the dial. Impressed you got a decent result from it, nice one
Thank you! Cheers!
Lol, Nice. I have an old Invicta sub that just stopped like 9 years ago. I should just open it up and learn.
Go for it!
Feel free to email me some pics about it
I had a "Winner" watch which was equally cheap. Out of the box. it ran 15 seconds fast. It had a screw-down caseback. I tried to tinker with it, and ruined it. I bet it used the same unlubricated movement as that Fngeen.
Just saw the first video of your channel, and looking forward to watch more. I'm really into watches and looking into watchmaking.
Welcome aboard. I have a fair amount of previous videos available on the channel for you 👍
