Help me decide what to buy, Tein Shocks or Coilovers for the Model 3 or Y?

  • Since we started discussing this product we get a lot of calls from people who gravitate to the coilovers but then realize, based on their needs, that the shocks might be the better choice. This video will help you decide if you should get Tein Flex Z coilovers or EnduraPro Plus shocks. It all comes down to if you are wanting to lower your vehicle or not!!!!!

      In all reality that can get complicated because it will depend on what springs you use with the Enduras. At the end of the day you can just tell us your goals for the vehicle and desired ride height. We'll tell you, as we did in the video, what you should use. Please lean on our experiences.

    I have chosen the Endura Pro Plus for my Tesla Y LR. I combined the shocks with springs from ST Suspension -30mm front and back. The rear driver-side shock started to make a clicking noise inside the damper, like something was loose. I checked many times to ensure everything was tightened properly but couldn't fix it, so I contacted TEIN about it, and they sent me a new shock absorber. After installing it, I was happy for 1.5 months, but then the same problem started to occur with the new shock. You can see a video I have uploaded with the noise that the shock makes. Maybe some of you have had this problem too.

    The droop issue you raise is a good point for those wanting stock ride height (Model 3 for me). I really like EDFC, though... do you think the Flex + EDFC + MPP lift kit would get me to stock or even higher than stock with a decent amount of droop? I'm going for maximum plush comfort, stock height or taller (for snow), but want the EDFC active suspension option.

    Quick question ZevCentric! By the way yall are the best. The transparency in your videos and products you sell are top notch. I want to lower my M3LR about 1-1.5” and improve ride quality. I live in vegas and use my car for daily commute of about 40-60 miles per day. Should I buy coilovers or shocks and springs? And which brand would you recommend from the range of products on your website?
    Thank you!!

    Why don't you measure the thickness of coil springs the thinner the coil spring more comfort . Do you know that the car pull the damper when you hit the hole on the road so you should also pull the damper coil to see how fast it comes out while pulling

    All these guys wanting to lower their 3s or Ys, do you know what it's going to cost you when the battery pack hits something?

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We rarely hit the pack. If anything it’s the jack points on speedbumps or driveways. We have bounced our packs off curbs at the track also without any issues. The pack casing is quite strong and resistant to puncture. It will take a very specific object, point of entry, and angle to pull it off. Thousands of 3’s and Y’s lowered. If it was that common we would have heard about it.

    You have a number of great videos on suspension for MY. You’ve obviously done lots of solid research. I have a 2021 LR with 20” wheels. Need to improve ride quality, way too rough. Would you say first step is to go to 18” wheels? Or would you upgrade suspension first? Thanks!!!

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In all honestly the dampers will make a bigger difference than the wheels. Changing wheels won't help those big dips when you're engaging the factory bumpstops. That punch to the gut will always be there with the oem dampers. Even on our MYP with 21" the ride improved greatly with just the shocks. I would start with shocks and then decide on wheels. You might be surprised.

  • @watdaflo

    So if I want to lower a MYP, and want it to be softer than stock, can the flexz do that or will it be stiffer than stock? Thanks

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A 1" drop on the Flex Z is ideal and yes it will be an improvement over stock. If you want it even softer with a drop then EnduraPro Plus and lowering springs such as Eibach or H&R. zevcentric.com/collections/model-y-coil-suspension?sort_by=best-selling&filter.p.vendor=TEIN

    Hello, I am from Toronto and I've been watching your videos in regards to the EnduraPro Plus. My question is, will the EnduraPro Plus shocks fit on my 2018 M3LR Rear Wheel Drive? I called in a local Tesla-certified shop and they said there's no aftermarket shocks that fit my car. I tried to do more research on this and there's no definite answer.

    I'm trying to make up my mind about what springs to use to improve ride comfort, I'm not that interested in lowering my model Y LR, but would you say the H&R springs plus the Enduropro Plus shocks would provide a softer ride than the Enduropro Plus shocks and stock springs? If so then I might be willing to compromise and get the springs along with the shocks along with the camber arms as a package through the site. Thanks for all your videos and knowledge you're giving to the community.

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just stick with the stock springs then. That will be your best option if not lowering. Most lowering springs have to increase their spring rate over stock so if you are happy with stock height then stick with the stock springs. Save you some money too!!! We would love your support. Thank you so much fir your future purchase. I can ship same day usually on the shocks.

      Never even bothered testing. The price difference is so small it didn’t make sense foe us to advise people to purchase the non adjustables. Taking a huge gamble.

    I have a M3 RWD, 2023. I want the car lowered an inch, and I want it to ride better. I currently find that over bumps it upsets the whole car. I want it to ride smoother, like an Acura TL or 3 series. I was wondering if the Flex Z would help with this, or would it make the ride even more rough.

    Hey there. Great video. I have tesla model 3 AWD (75k miles). I consider to lower my car by 1". The question is: Flex Z vs EnduraPro Plus + Eibach springs? I do like to drive a little bit extreme on corners (if that helps). Also with EnduraPro option I would save some $$ for MPP CLA. What do you think?
    Also do you think MPP LCA helps to get some improvements on corners?
    Thanks in advance.

The question is tein coilovers vs shocks+springs for comfort daily driving with some cornering capabilities 😊 you guys really know what you are talking about.

      @@MaxDiachenkoI would do the shocks and springs honestly due to your climate. The Flex Z might make noise as well. You can also look into Koni shocks and Eibach springs which will have the best support in Europe for you.

      @@zevcentric I decided to go with you suggestion and get KONI's sport shocks with eibach lowering springs. Also I am willing to get MPP LCA bearings to improve turns.
      Another question if you don't mind: do you think it is a good imporvement to get more stiff sway-bars (eibach, MPP) to improve even more cornering or it is extra? Thanks

    I want 2” lower than a stock Model Y Performance. Is that doable with the Flex Z?

    • @zevcentric
      @zevcentric  ปีที่แล้ว

      The lowest we have been able to get Is 385-390mm center of hub to fender. Usually MYP is 415 hub to fender. 2" is a big drop on the Y and might cause issues. Send us an email and we can show you how our Y looks at the max drop.
