I was diagnosed with borderline left ventricular hypertrophy very recently, it was kind of brushed off as not big deal, I know that it's a big deal and it is a very big predictor in having an adverse cardiac event.
@@lionhearttt3540 I can relate, A few days ago I went to see the cardiologist for my results and he told me I have cardiomyopathy and he acted the same as if its not much of a big deal and gave me a beta blocker and a blood pressure med and I gave never taken meds except for a tylenol or motrin very seldom. I am thinking about seeing another cardiologist. This is scary and he was too calm. And I hear beta blockers dont do much. I hear the ARB's are the way to go. I will be making an appoinment with another cardiologist. God bless everyone on here and the doctor for taking his time to explain all this better than the cardiologist.

Biggie Coalla i really don’t have any symptoms aside from palpitations i was diagnosed in the emergency room from an echocardiogram so my cardiologist is going to examine more closely to see if it’s true LVH because my echocardiogram was normal last year. I’m praying that they got it wrong in the ER.

I have had paroxysmal a fib for 25 to 30 years possibly longer. Although I was doing really good with no a fib symptoms for 8 years since going on a healthier Vegan diet. A few weeks ago it returned and they set me up for a stress-echo test that showed mild/moderate hypokinesis. . Can my a fib have cause the hypokinesis? I've been diagnosed with LVH this past summer and I am 24. I have hipertension since I was a young teenager, only until my 20s did I start taking medication for it. Today my GP has told me that in 90% of the cases LVH is not reversible, and it has scared me very much. I am so young, I just want to live life and reach my 60s. I am overweight but I have my high blood pressure under control and I try to stay as active as possible. I just want to know that in doing all of this, there will be a good outcome for me. Please, I'm very scared and anxious :(

I'm 21 with normal blood pressure and healthy weight. I had this problem when 17 and i did athletics but they just told me to rest a few months after an echo test came up normal. I went in again recently and the problem has not gone away on an ecg, yet it has not got worse either. I run a lot less nowadays. Is there much to be concerned about? Many thanks
This showed up on an ECG on myself before a small operation.. I do train hard with running and weight lifting and with my work which is physical .so I'm putting down as an Athletic type of the issue as I'm slim .Thank you for explaining this medical issue .

Hello Dr. Gupta and thank you for the best explanation from the whole internet about my condition! I was diagnosed recently with severe left ventricle hypertrophy, LBBB complete, mitral valve regurgitation 2, Tricupsal valve 1! I never had hypertension only a huge pulse (like 100 while lying down without medics 80 with beta blockers). I always feel pain in my left chest and I have palpitations no matter what! The doctors in my country don’t really care explaining to people, only take our money. He told me is nothing I can do about it! So I will die because of that? What should I understand? My only treatment is 50 mg metoprolol daily and a statin. I’m very worried! I’m getting tired from basic walking NYHA III. Please Dr. Gupta can you tell me if I’m in huge risk? I’m 40 only!

what abt size abt ur heart chamer.size....if chambers are enlarged in relation to thickness then its athlitic....otherwise its may be due to HTN ...so u shd control HTN...if u have no pathology otherthan LVH u shd do B.P measurement 3 times.daily for a week along with ur pulse and proceed accordingly

I have a in larger heart 8 centimeters also a low ejection fraction rate of 15 .I don’t think L VAD is for me I have a blockage on top of a four-way bypass. I don’t know if I could get a stent there or not. I have the by pass in 2007. I would have to be defibrillator several times that’s when the heart became in large. ❤
Very good explanation. Recent test show I have left ventricular basal septal hypertrophy present. I am not sure if this is related to over training as an athlete. But if it is, the last few minutes stated to train less and things may get better. Well , I ruptured my L5/S1 disc and the jell slammed against my sciatic nerve, so needless to say, I have changed my workout from weights and heavy cardio to walking and Yoga. Never thought I would try Yoga, but very helpful. So, will my left ventricular hypertrophy get better? Time will tell :) Thanks for the great video!

my echo just showed left ventricular hypertrophy and my question is can this cause edema? this was the main reason along with heart fluttering and shortness of breathe so my doc ordered the test. but my biggest symtpom is edema in foot and left hand swollen and numb.
Hello Dr. echo result shows my IVSd to be 1.6cm and my LVPWd is 1.4cm but my cardiologist stated that my Left Ventricle is normal even though these readings go beyond the range specified on the result. My EF is 65%. Do you think this interpretation is accurate?. Also my BP rose to 220/70 during stress test but normal at rest. Thanks
Im thin , and I have been seeing my visible heart beat through my chest for about 1 month now , n I went to doctor they say im healthy , and I'm suffering from anxiety should I be worried ?
That seems to be the standard answer. I've spoke with Dr Gupta, I do suffer from anxiety ptsd. For over a year now I have been to the ER/ED 2 times for palpitations PVCs. Now, not saying you have anxiety, but once we "notice these symptoms" we tend to not forget them. Most Dr.'s don't consider the patients distress when they leave feeling unsure what was meant and said. Hence, in my case...your potassium was a little low could be causing the pvcs, but mainly your anxiety. Your heart looks fine. Don't overthink it. Now. I am a Paramedic, I was trained that a patient with Pvcs less than 6 per minute not to treat, or 25 percent we STILL don't treat unless there are SYMPTOMS. I.E. LOW Blood pressure dizziness etc. In situations where there is a separation between ELECTRIC SIGNALS on the monitor showing a heart rate of...say 70..and a mechanical function...the pump...or pulse of 30. I experienced that, I have a new compassion for the patients I have seen or see, who maybe freaked out over palpitations or feeling their heart beat in their chest or throat etc. Feel free to respond back if you wish. I KNOW exactly how it can increase anxiety. A lot of things can make your heart seem its pounding in your chest, and seeing your heart beat in your chest is normal if your mid to thin built, most people don't notice it or pay it much attention. I have counted heart rate by observing chest thuds or even in the middle knoctch of the throat, my son is thin, and you can watch his boom boom...BOOM....boom. while he is standing still. Hope this helps ease your mind, if not, feel free to reach out and I'll reply as soon as I can. I am NOT a Dr. But I am experienced in medical interventions and my personal story. God Bless.

Also, I am quite over weight. As per BMI, I should be 64 kg, but am 99 (after reducing by 7 kg in last 2 months). Had CABG in 2008. Main left artery was 98% blocked. Had few angina but no heart attack. If you could be kind enough to tell... will loosing substantial weight (30 kg or so) and walking 5 miles a day... will reduce left ventricular hypertrophy and take care of isotopic beats? Will be very greatful if you can guide the right way to keep my heart healthy and get rid of isotopes. Thanks!

I'm 46 and diagnosed with LVH. My blood pressure is normal. However, I am overweight, and had an ablation for atrial flutter. My heart rate went up to 250 bpm. After the ablation, my heart rate has always been unusually high. My cardiologist told me to loose weight, and it can be reversed. But I'm wondering if this is the reason why I have LVH. I really hope and pray my heart goes back to normal.
How long has your heart rate been that high? Does it literally stay that high throughout the day, sustained for a long time? Any meds to control it? I’m 23, had horrible panic attacks/anxiety for the past few yrs, where my heart could race on a daily basis. I’m thinking my LVH is from that, from all the stress on the heart beating too fast.

I was on dexamethasone 8mg for 14 days following a lung infection after that I development chest pain ECG was normal but echo showed lvh what should I do.
I had an echo 2.5 years ago and was told everything was fine. I just now got ahold of my report on the patient portal and it shows mild concentric LVH with dialated atrium!!! The doc never told me this!!! Measurements: IVSd 1.1 cm, LVPWd 1.1 cm, LA dimension 3.9 cm, LVIDd 4.8 cm, LVIDs 3.3 cm, RVDd 3.4 cm, AO root 2.7, EF 60-65%. Why would they say it’s “fine?” It was investigated because the nuclear stress test showed reversible defect and the angiogram was clear he said wide open arteries. I just don’t get it. All this has caused major stress and anxiety.
Doctors are like this. They think "ah, it's not so bad, it's not dangerous". I had 13 mm at first, now 15 mm. Will confront my doctor with this who said no treatment necessary. Because not it IS necessary!

You can't really "cure" the condition. HOWEVER.. by reducing your blood pressure via DIET not artificially by medications, and walking 20 to 30 min 2 or 3 times a week. Now, if you don't use a muscle very much (think working out your right arm and not your left), the muscle begins to Hypotrophy. So thinning the blood out (beets and greens which are high in potassium, and vitamin D, Himalayan salt (some Dr will disagree with that) but you need MAGNESIUM CALCIUM POTASSIUM SODIUM balance) many of us are low in magnesium and low in potassium. Now..little long but to answer in short terms. Breathing exercises, 6to8 breaths a minute, and sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night, which is when our body repairs itself is a great start. It takes time to build muscle, as it will take time to "shrink it". It all depends on the cause. That is where you look at do I have high blood pressure? Sleep apnea? Am I sitting hours a day with getting up and moving? Do I have breathing issues? Ask questions of yourself and jot them down for your doctor, and see if he can tell you the cause. Find the cause, reverse the cause, then you can reverse the big or small muscle or at least slow down its progression. I am not a Dr. I am a Paramedic, and I have called Dr Gupta and consulted him with my own issues. It is well worth the time and money. He is a fantastic person and listens tentatively. Not to mention, he is not a big fan of medication to fix things, so not a big pharma pusher. Hope this helps. Take what I say for research not a direct answer. But hopefully it hints to a suitable answer for you both. Be Blessed.

are you saying your heart is on the right side of your chest (dextrocardia) or your right ventricle is hypertrophied (right ventricular hypertrophy) because those are very different things...
Dr. I am 53 was diagnosed severe LVH in 2010 my angiography is normal ECHO is suggestive of only LVH and nothing else. My ECG readings are still unchanged ,same i.e. global changes . Since then I m on antihypertensive drug betabloger. My cardiologist says it is Not a heart disease.plz suggest as second opinion.

what abt size abt ur heart chamer.size....if chambers are enlarged in relation to thickness then its athlitic....otherwise its may be due to HTN ...so u shd control HTN...if u have no pathology otherthan LVH
u shd do B.P measurement 3 times.daily for a week along with ur pulse and proceed accordingly
@@Dr-789 my mother's chest xray shows left ventricular preponderance she is recovering from covid its been 15days she had to took steriods but she has no symptoms like breathlessness or chest pain her blood pressure is normal her body weight is normal and she is vegetarian .only thing is she is diabetic that too under control.

Very good explanation. Recent test show I have left ventricular basal septal hypertrophy present. I am not sure if this is related to over training as an athlete. But if it is, the last few minutes stated to train less and things may get better. Well , I ruptured my L5/S1 disc and the jell slammed against my sciatic nerve, so needless to say, I have changed my workout from weights and heavy cardio to walking and Yoga. Never thought I would try Yoga, but very helpful. So, will my left ventricular hypertrophy get better? Time will tell :) Thanks for the great video!

My elder brother was diagnosed with left ventricular hypertrophy just a day before he died of heart attack.He was not having any history of heart diseases, I was just wondering how this happened? He was sometimes having high blood pressure and redness in eyes but not always.

my echo just showed left ventricular hypertrophy and my question is can this cause edema? this was the main reason along with heart fluttering and shortness of breathe so my doc ordered the test. but my biggest symtpom is edema in foot and left hand swollen and numb.

Hello Dr. echo result shows my IVSd to be 1.6cm and my LVPWd is 1.4cm but my cardiologist stated that my Left Ventricle is normal even though these readings go beyond the range specified on the result. My EF is 65%. Do you think this interpretation is accurate?. Also my BP rose to 220/70 during stress test but normal at rest. Thanks

That seems to be the standard answer. I've spoke with Dr Gupta, I do suffer from anxiety ptsd. For over a year now I have been to the ER/ED 2 times for palpitations PVCs. Now, not saying you have anxiety, but once we "notice these symptoms" we tend to not forget them. Most Dr.'s don't consider the patients distress when they leave feeling unsure what was meant and said. Hence, in my case...your potassium was a little low could be causing the pvcs, but mainly your anxiety. Your heart looks fine. Don't overthink it. Now. I am a Paramedic, I was trained that a patient with Pvcs less than 6 per minute not to treat, or 25 percent we STILL don't treat unless there are SYMPTOMS. I.E. LOW Blood pressure dizziness etc. In situations where there is a separation between ELECTRIC SIGNALS on the monitor showing a heart rate of...say 70..and a mechanical function...the pump...or pulse of 30. I experienced that, I have a new compassion for the patients I have seen or see, who maybe freaked out over palpitations or feeling their heart beat in their chest or throat etc. Feel free to respond back if you wish. I KNOW exactly how it can increase anxiety. A lot of things can make your heart seem its pounding in your chest, and seeing your heart beat in your chest is normal if your mid to thin built, most people don't notice it or pay it much attention. I have counted heart rate by observing chest thuds or even in the middle knoctch of the throat, my son is thin, and you can watch his boom boom...BOOM....boom. while he is standing still. Hope this helps ease your mind, if not, feel free to reach out and I'll reply as soon as I can. I am NOT a Dr. But I am experienced in medical interventions and my personal story. God Bless.

Recently I was detected with mild left ventricular hypertrophy and ever since I have brented getting 15-20 isotopic beats (svpc and vpc). Also, I am quite over weight. As per BMI, I should be 64 kg, but am 99 (after reducing by 7 kg in last 2 months).
Had CABG in 2008. Main left artery was 98% blocked. Had few angina but no heart attack.

I'm 46 and diagnosed with LVH. My blood pressure is normal. However, I am overweight, and had an ablation for atrial flutter. My heart rate went up to 250 bpm. After the ablation, my heart rate has always been unusually high. My cardiologist told me to loose weight, and it can be reversed. But I'm wondering if this is the reason why I have LVH. I really hope and pray my heart goes back to normal.
How long has your heart rate been that high? Does it literally stay that high throughout the day, sustained for a long time? Any meds to control it? I’m 23, had horrible panic attacks/anxiety for the past few yrs, where my heart could race on a daily basis. I’m thinking my LVH is from that, from all the stress on the heart beating too fast.

I was on dexamethasone 8mg for 14 days following a lung infection after that I development chest pain ECG was normal but echo showed lvh what should I do.
I had an echo 2.5 years ago and was told everything was fine. I just now got ahold of my report on the patient portal and it shows mild concentric LVH with dialated atrium!!! The doc never told me this!!! Measurements: IVSd 1.1 cm, LVPWd 1.1 cm, LA dimension 3.9 cm, LVIDd 4.8 cm, LVIDs 3.3 cm, RVDd 3.4 cm, AO root 2.7, EF 60-65%. Why would they say it’s “fine?” It was investigated because the nuclear stress test showed reversible defect and the angiogram was clear he said wide open arteries. I just don’t get it. All this has caused major stress and anxiety.

Doctors are like this. They think "ah, it's not so bad, it's not dangerous". I had 13 mm at first, now 15 mm. Will confront my doctor with this who said no treatment necessary. Because not it IS necessary!

You can't really "cure" the condition. HOWEVER.. by reducing your blood pressure via DIET not artificially by medications, and walking 20 to 30 min 2 or 3 times a week. Now, if you don't use a muscle very much (think working out your right arm and not your left), the muscle begins to Hypotrophy. So thinning the blood out (beets and greens which are high in potassium, and vitamin D, Himalayan salt (some Dr will disagree with that) but you need MAGNESIUM CALCIUM POTASSIUM SODIUM balance) many of us are low in magnesium and low in potassium.
Now..little long but to answer in short terms.
Breathing exercises, 6to8 breaths a minute, and sleeping 7 to 9 hours a night, which is when our body repairs itself is a great start. It takes time to build muscle, as it will take time to "shrink it". It all depends on the cause. That is where you look at do I have high blood pressure? Sleep apnea? Am I sitting hours a day with getting up and moving? Do I have breathing issues? Ask questions of yourself and jot them down for your doctor, and see if he can tell you the cause. Find the cause, reverse the cause, then you can reverse the big or small muscle or at least slow down its progression. I am not a Dr. I am a Paramedic, and I have called Dr Gupta and consulted him with my own issues. It is well worth the time and money. He is a fantastic person and listens tentatively. Not to mention, he is not a big fan of medication to fix things, so not a big pharma pusher. Hope this helps. Take what I say for research not a direct answer. But hopefully it hints to a suitable answer for you both. Be Blessed.
