    I missed the "at each connecting location" bit from Elaborate Distraction. That's amazing value considering the amount of hunters they've been printing out recently.

    Love these series! Two pretty specific interactions to mention:
    Ursula could be quite a good Testing Sprint player, as after moving she could halve the action-cost of that card (same goes for Microscope, a little bit different "double" card!).
    And with Bide Your Time I want to try a sledgehammer deck - it seems to be made for a round where you can swing the hammer really hard multiple times.

    For anyone playing Preston, don't sleep on Elaborate Distraction. It can do so much work for you in a tight spot.

    I have Stick to the Plan and love Refine as one of the three I put in it. I've upgraded my customizable cards in almost every scenario.

    Nice discussion, I am playing red|blue Carson Sinclair and double action cards, and they do good work. Scrounge for Supplies and Resourceful make Task Force and Elaborate Distraction "myriad" cards. Bestow Resolve gives ??? cards to commit for your party, while you do testless actions.
    I think the double action cards have an option to splash into characters with action efficiency, a.k.a that get a certain action for free most of the time.
    ps: I think Faustian Bargain is kinda like Charon obolus. In a team game, other players are paying for your fun (in the case of charon other players have to through themselves into the way, so the campaign doesnt become a slog after 4 adventures). In a 3 player game there is a 2/3 chance other players are might pay for your "bargain". It does not matter, that on a scale of 10 games you win more...what matters is the pull of the token. You can very easily design teams, where one player has a bad times, but others will win the adventure, but I think this is not good design.

    Wrong Place, Right Time seems like a good enough card for a well set-up Tommy. He doesn't mind losing assets to exactly matching horror and damage values and this card seems like it might be just that. Imagine healing yourself, while gaining a ton of resources and 2-3 cards back. Yes, it may be a bit of a stretch to expect him to just sink 2 actions like that, but there is value to be had there imho.

      I think the reason I didn’t run this in my recent Tommy deck was because this wants you to set up ideally 5 assets on the brink of death before you play this, which sets Tommy up for catastrophe if you draw Rookie Mistake before you can cash in. So I wouldn’t play this until after hitting the weakness, which isn’t great because I want that card draw asap

    • @ren6175
      @ren6175 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why 5 assets though? You mean for the draw? I don’t think the card draw is necessarily the focus of the card. I think it actually benefits different people differently.
      It is a lot of healing. It bypasses Hanks no healing rule. Tommy can use it for resources. Agnes can use it to heal to use her ability more. I’m sure Yorick can abuse it somehow. Bob Jenkins would generally want to have assets out.

      Came here to say this. This card was nuts when I tried it with Tommy.

    • @hammerdall
      @hammerdall วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ZovcDrafts maybe I should give it a try next time. Is the idea that you can jump straight to defeating your assets without the risk of the weakness nailing you in between?

    • @ren6175
      @ren6175 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@hammerdall in my experience it is exactly what you just said. If you are worrying about Tommy’s weakness that doesn’t really impact WPRT. Tommy’s weakness is what it is and you are always going to play around it somewhat but when you decide to play WPRT you will want to defeat as many things as possible to trigger the card draw and Tommy’s ability. But at the same time there will only be so much you can defeat. It would be difficult to and probably a waste to try to set it up to defeat 5 things. I think it would be more practical so say have a teddy bear, fine clothes, and Tetsuo out. Then you hit two to the charm, one to fine clothes, two to Tetsuo. You gain at least 5 ammo/resources, draw 3 cards from WPRT, draw a card from Tetsuo, heal 5 damage/horror, and shuffle those assets back into the deck. Now that is a bit of min/maxing and it takes some effort to set that up, but that is Tommy’s playstyle so you aren’t going out of your way and wasting turns to do it.

    I think it would be cool if the double events had been modular - with different effects if you spent a single action vs. a double action, or go even further and include a third version for spending three actions.

    Have you tried Wrong Place Right Time in Tommy? You said it's kind of poopy in your initial take, but it's been popping off in my testing. I think it's in a funny place versus your play style, but it can lend itself to skill slinging.
    Survival Knife, Guard Dog, and Vicious Blow, Long Shot, and Brute Force for your damage.
    Hunting Jacket is bananas card draw in combination with wrong place. Hunter's armor can be too. Ever Vigilant and Safeguard can accommodate some of your tempo for all the assets. Keen Eye can give you something to do with your money (and help brute force) and actions when there are and aren't enemies in play.
    It can be a little vulnerable to your mulligan, but the deck just keeps growing with exp, considering you can scale into Stick to the Plan and Charisma and whatnot.

      @@ZovcDrafts I dunno. Why would I want bad card draw when I can just run good card draw?

    • @ZovcDrafts
      @ZovcDrafts 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@PlayingBoardGames I would just say you have to try it to get it. I see where you're coming from but think you might be surprised.
      The deck I was running was alongside Agnes and I had 2x Solemn Vow so she could pawn horror off onto my stuff before it exploded, if that matters.

    • @ZovcDrafts
      @ZovcDrafts 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@PlayingBoardGames I haven't tried it in Yorick, btw, but having played it with Tommy, I have a feeling it is better in him than Yorick. It might vary with player count, but in two-handed it felt like your assets might get locked away in your discard pile because you aren't drawing enemies and you also lose access to Keen Eye (3 anyway) for when you don't have bad guys to bonk.
      The draw ~3+ during downtime on top of Hunting Jacket and Hunter's Armor's incremental value felt nuts to me. I did not realize the card removes itself and did Resourceful it at least once when I was trying it.

    Yeah Bank Job got undeserved hate. Faustian Bargain without the curses is great if nobody at the table actually wants curses. Curses do actually fail tests sometimes, which could cost someone more than the extra action you spent on Bank Job (which at least got an extra resource vs Faustian)

    • @kingcole5977
      @kingcole5977 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Using Fence with Bank Job is pretty good, as it doesn’t provoke enemy attacks (I think), so you can potentially rob a bank in front of a police officer.

    I think what you're saying abotu economy (in particular resources), is that late in the game, they can be dead effects/cards. If they do other things (Ecache 2) then they still have value outside of "unneeded resources"

    • @grayv9611
      @grayv9611 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, drawing bank job or thorough inquiry in your opening hang means that you defiantly play them, drawing them late game - they are skill boosting cards.

    My preferred balance point for Arkham is most cards should be mediocre to okay in anxaverage deck, but good to great when combined with the right investigator or support card(s).
    Firstly because I'm a little concerned that if they keep trying to make cards good in comparison to the current cardpool, they will get power creep. Secondly because this way keeps each investigator looking at different parts of the cardpool.

    I overall think that Justins choices for the "good" category are like inch away from boarding the "amazing" yacht.
    Personally, testing sprint and task force intruegues me greatly.
    Task force on a good day as fighter afk'ing because lack of monsters whips the cluever to action with it. On bad day, its "working a hunch". So, mileages varies strongly.
