      That's a huge problem with most TH-cam reviews for almost every product. They review based on a week's use, then bail like you said.
      It's nice to get follow ups, and it's a win-win as we get a more accurate read as consumers and TH-camrs get more content and views.

    Another way to get around auto-macro mode - put your phone into 1X portrait mode. If you're close enough to your subject for it to switch to macro mode, you'll also be too close for it to use portrait mode, so it will just take a regular picture, but it will still use the primary lens.

    • @Kevin-px3yi
      @Kevin-px3yi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@alain-danieltankwa8007 I agree that macro should have been a straightforward toggle (and now it is, at least on the most updated iOS beta), but I'm not sure I see it as "why should we have to go through all that" levels of bother. Pushing a "macro mode" button and switching to portrait mode take exactly the same number of steps - one. It's not as if something that should have been a one step process needs to be circumvented with a 17 step workaround. It's just a different, one step process that you can use instead. Your mileage may vary, but for me, that's pretty much a nonissue.

    @iddeegee 3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    So in other words you overpay for the powerful cores just to turn them off right from the box, because it dims the screen at any power demanding tasks, but you can't because of the touch responsiveness issue. While fighting with the responsiveness you realize that your lenses are as dirty as hell because of your fingerprints when trying to shot a proper macro shot, for some reasons it was too dark and noisy, and that's because the camera decided to select a tele lens with a slow aperture f2.8 (when it was f2.0 in the 11pro). But no problem you have 2 times more time trying to fix all the issues because of the larger battery, nice!

    Thanks for someone finally showing those sides of the iphone. I actually got both phones too and i was surprised that no one spoke about the overhyped camera that actually happened to be worse even than a galaxy s10 plus in a lot of situations. I'm sorry but that's not a 1.6k phone. And no one speaks about that plasticy sounding and feeling display. Maybe it's just me but it really bugs the hell out of me. Also the lower resolution and the fact that it is not actually brighter as claimed is another minus.

    My Main Problems are ://
    1. Lightning port ( Very low data transfer speeds and low charging speeds wired mode < MagSafe charging sucks even more due to heating and speeds>)
    2. Display dimming while taking photos outdoor & playing graphic-intense gaming like pubg,cod etc and moreover device heats up lot more.
    (yes low power modes help a little bit in this aspect but we are losing lot more like 120hz etc, by the spending Premium amount to buy a phone and use the phone in low power mode ) this was not a problem with other brands like Oneplus, Samsung etc
    3. Lens flare in photos and videos in bright light conditions make photos/ videos not up to the mark
    4. auto switching macro mode and missing AOD feature( not a big deal but having makes perfect)
    5. huge bezels on sides mostly visible on pro max devices makes phone old generation and of course the smaller notch lengthwise( zero use) but slightly increased width 😯

    • @chaitanyakiran
      @chaitanyakiran 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@andyH_England yeah agree for your statements as a basic Normal mobile user but for techie/ heavy user the above problems makes big difference.
      1. As limited storage we need to transfer files for example if we take 10min 4k 60 clip it consumes more space and downloads etc.
      Simply apple wants to make more money without switching to usb c
      With iPads they have to do it because of these issues otherwise it's a big disaster.
      2. I have never seen such a display dimming issue in samsung galaxy s series (s21 ultra), note series , OnePlus, asus rog,vivo etc flagship phones
      Using in the same conditions my new iphone sucks then what's the use of POWERFUL A15 chip with week cooling.
      It's a flagship phone with premium price tag, we need sustainable performance for longer duration ( not just 10-15min) not just the peak performance.
      3. Lens flare is more annoying issues when compared to other flagship phones example: s21 ultra, I am forced to use my older phones to take photos in such conditions instead of new iphone 😑
      4. When iphone 14 with iOS 16 but it's a issue right now.buying Phone now thinking future updates can fix this doesn't make any sense in flagship phones especially of apple update, these kind of software features apple keep on hold until next iOS event feature list.
      Again AOD can be simply be enabled by software but they don't do it because it will be the new feature which will be marked for future phones
      5.yeah it's completely personal preference

    Bit weird when he say faster/slower aperture. Aperture is a hole that let a light passthrough, so it should be bigger/smaller aperture. Faster/slower are for shutter speed.

    • @PiotrMatwiejuk
      @PiotrMatwiejuk 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly! Larger aperture can cause slower shutter in order to get the same exposure, but the aperture value does not describe its speed 😉 Also, bigger number has its cons but also pros, so it’s not completely a bad thing.

    • @mattshalash
      @mattshalash 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      He’s using photography terminology. A fast aperture doesn’t refer to any speed metric, it simply means that it will let in more light. The other thing about aperture is that the f-number is actually a ratio between the focal length of a lens and it’s maximum actual aperture diameter (the light pupil of the lens). A f2.8 aperture on a professional lens could be larger than the whole camera module on an iPhone whereas the iPhone with its f1.4 for example the actual diameter of the aperture hole is in the millimeters range. If we started using the terms larger and smaller we would have to start referring to the aperture in an absolute value, but to say faster or slower indicates that more light can be captured (for the same shutter speed) ie. the “faster” a lens, the quicker your shutter speed can be to capture the same amount of light. And the reverse is also true. Hope this helped

    Honestly the new IPhones seem like a bit of a fail. They give you the most powerful processor of all smartphones, but using it produces so much heat that the display has to dim down after a couple of minutes. They finally give you a 120hz display 3 years too late, but using it in modern games resolves in the same dimming. So now you have to manually limit the power of the processor and set the refresh rate to 60hz, just to be able to play games with a reasonable level of brightness. Then you don't have a fingerprint sensor, even though it could have been inside the display, you don't have always-on display, you have a lot of problems with the camera and you still have the lightning port, which is stuck in 2012 speed-wise. And still these are basically the most expensive smartphones. I'm not an Android fanboy and I definitely don't hate Apple, but honestly, this is a fail on so many levels...

    Being a life long Android user, but being fed up with the poor battery life on every flagship Android, I thought I'd try an iPhone. I've already got an M1 MBAir, and I was impressed with the battery and the ease of use, especially since the USB C ports fitted in with all my fast charging Android plugs and cables. It's leaps and bounds better than any other laptop i've ever used; it just works so well! So I though that maybe getting the latest iPhone would be the same deal....
    I heard that the 13 Pro Max has incredible stamina in the battery department, so when my carrier was all out of S21 Ultras to replace my broken one, they offered me the 256GB 13 Pro Max. It was only after I accepted the offer (without doing the usual research) that I recoiled in horror when I saw that Apple was still using the 'lightening' port and not the USB C that's on all it's other kit. To then read that it uses USB 2 absolutely blew my mind. WTH is Apple thinking with this? It's like having a Ferrari with a 100L fuel tank and a 1mm fuel filler. What a joke. I switched from iPhone to Samsung Note 9 a few years ago, because of
    1. Battery
    2. Customizable home screen with icons and widgets
    3. Split screen apps (particularly TH-cam and Notes)
    4. Multiwindow apps (particularly maps, translate, chat heads, notes, and TH-cam)
    5. S-pen
    6. Low light photography
    7. Thumbprint unlock
    I don't plan on switching back anytime soon, but admittedly Apple has caught up in the battery and camera. It'll take a lot more for Apple to win me over again.

    Everyone knows in photo that the lower the F value the more light is brought into the lens. It is foolish for apple to not apply this to their night mode. Either way, it is correctable by an update or manual mode. I hope they add pro-control mode to the camera to let you do some of this yourself. I think we are getting into an area where we need them to dig in and give some control to the user on this.

My problem is choosing between mini and pro and I am looking for the right reasons not to go to the pro. This is the first video that actually gives me a very good reason not to take the third lens so seriously. Is it possible that you could make a more detailed camera comparison between the mini and the regular pro? Also with the mini is it possible to shoot RAW photos or ProRes if you use another third party app?

I have to drive a lot for my work and having the iPhone under direct sunlight during the hot days and using google maps the display dims so much is almost unusable to use navigation! @@fiirasmusic5366 i’ve been criticizing Apple on here, but when it comes to lightning port I can sort of see their point for two reasons. First reason, USB has changed numerous ways since the lightning port came out. Apple is into consistency and I admire that about them. Second reason, high-speed charging is convenient but pouring that much power, that fast, into a lithium ion battery definitely shortens its lifespan. This is another thing that I admire about Apple, they pride themselves on a longer product life cycle.

I only switched because my whole family owns iPhones and it’s easier we are all in the same ecosystem. The rest of the phone is good except no Touch ID. How warm is it currently in your city? I have been putting my 13 Pro Max into full brightness while using 5g, Bluetooth headphones and even playing some lighter games and it never once dimmed. I understand cameras are even more demanding but during regular usage it never is like that. And as for the touch input: I have that issue literally only in TH-cam. Even with iOS 15 having some issues, this feels TH-cam specific. I have had it on all devices (XS Max, iPad Pro and now 13 Pro Max) for weeks during beta testing. There are easy settings changes to prevent dimming in games. Genshin is hugely demanding and PUBG is poorly optimized so it makes sense that those cause the biggest brightness drops.
