Shows off the band and the Singers skillz. The band is named the Kami (God) Band, it has around 8-18 members over the years, invite only. The bass player started in Jazz, the high note stuff at the start really shows it. One of the writers really likes Italian operas and other classical stuff. The performance by the band solo is great. However, as soon as the vocal appears and starts singing, everyone gasps at her beauty and recognizes that she is the protagonist.❤
Love these Babymetal reactions. Ignore the haters. This is a Su solo so it is a little different from the full Babymetal songs. Usually recommended because of the intro, the stage setup and Su's vocals which are a little outside the norm for her but still very impressive.
Dancing in the Dark 2 meters above a rotating stage, a 16yr old Suzuka sings of an Unending Knightmare of being chased by a Faceless Terror and Begging a Boon that it show Her Its Face just once before She dies. That's Metal. That's Babymetal!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Another great reaction! I have been very much enjoying your musical breakdowns and explanations...and the way you are making them are fine, especially since we are gaining info and perspective! Excellent analysis. Usually when we think of rondos we think of Mozart's two pieces, but this one is so different from them. A recurring nightmare. This 16 year old girl brings sweet terror to the viewer.
Love your analysis! IIRC (and it's been a while) I think the "rondo" is also tied to the lyrics which reference an endless nightmare about being being chased through the darkness by an unseen horror. When she gives up and pleads for the evil to reveal the way out (that's the part with the nasal vocal effect) the nightmare begins again.

Don't stop making videos. Just keep going with Babymetal, and many months from now, when you've exhausted their entire back catalogue, we will pass you over to the Band-Maid and Maximum the Hormone fans. You'll be busy doing Japanese music for years to come :-) It's hard to know what to recommend to you next, because you seem to like most of what you've heard from them so far. Should we go for big crowd pleasers like _Road of Resistance_ and _Headbanger,_ or should we throw you for a loop with _BxMxC_ and _Iine?_ Maybe go full prog with the Dream Theater tribute that is _Tales of the Destinies,_ or bring you to literal tears with Su's vocal performances in _Akatsuki (unfinished version)_ and _Monochrome (piano version)?_ Perhaps another couple of shows with great intros from the Kami Band, such as _Catch Me If You Can, Yava_ or _Awadama Fever?_ And then we also need to explain about Black Babymetal (only Yui and Moa, without Su), which has both the cutest and heaviest Babymetal songs. There's just so many amazing songs to chose from!
6 string base played by BOH. The guitarists are long term Babymetal Kami band members Leda Cygnus and Tokayoshi Ohmura. They both play 7,8,9 string guitars depending on the song.
I think that Su is caught in a nightmare rondo,. the nightmare that keeps returning and she can't escape. I think the rondo is voiced by the lyrics. Many feel this song is a metaphor for depression. The Kami band rocks, and Su is pretty impressive for singing an independent melody over a complex and shifting rhythm at 16. Good stuff, and as always a good reaction.
The song actually follows the simplest form of rondo of A-B-A-C-A. A is the part you hear that sounds like Meshuggah of which everyone struggles to identify its erratic time signature. Officially it is 4/4, then a bar of 3/4, followed by two 4/4. The B and C are the intermissions. B is divided into the waltzing at 3/4, and then the simplest part of the song at 4/4. Babymetal's guitarist Ohmura once remarked the person who has the most difficult time in all of this song was Su-metal herself, and to sing it she had to be prodigy. She sings on the off-beat and you can see her swaying and bouncing her leg in 3/4 to keep her rhythm. The Japanese title is rinbukyoku, which was a Meiji era word for a rondo, and the Japanese book does have katakana, telling us to pronounce it as rondo. Whereas akumu no rondo is actually in the lyrics in regards to the repeating nightmare. Babymetal will use a title to both represent the music and the lyrics. The song's temporary title was Kill The Alice, based on Alice in Wonderland falling into a hole and flailing about in the darkness alone until she can feel something approaching. It is by far the darkest song they have, and was meant to embody the darkness of Black Night theme within the lore of story, whereas its sister song Akatsuki (Crimson Moon) was written suppose to represent the passion of the Red Night theme. The Mischiefs of the Metal Gods, which is the only Kami band song with an actual name, was used for mostly Rondo, but once for Akatsuki.
The form is actually A - B - C - bridge - D - B or Verse1 - Chorus - Verse2 - Bridge - Verse3 - Chorus And it is a non-traditional rondo in that the repeated theme (the chorus) is not stated first.
@@johnschultz7765 Since my post got deleted by TH-cam for some unknown reason. I'll repost it. Listen to the studio audio version for clear focus of what's happening in the song. The rondo is not divided up by chorus and verse. A begins when the music starts and that theme is held in three segments, completely independent of the vocals. Su starts singing at :28, and A is still continuing underneath it and doesn't end until :46, while the first verse is still being sung. Part of the verse goes into B, where the chorus picks up. B which is its own beast entirely with two subdivision, then continues through the chorus, and into the next verse where it finally ends at 2:08. The second A then continues with no vocals on top, but extra layers of music until 2:31 where it ends, and Su enters the second verse and C begins. C itself is its own beast with two subdivisions, and goes through the last chorus, until it ends and A starts at 3:21 which then wraps it back around to the first A. The vocals are all independent of the rondo that happens underneath.

Great reaction/analysis again, thanks! "Rondo of Nightmare" is a solo song by Su-metal and it's probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about her being trapped into a recurring nightmare with no chance to escape where she's chased by a dark entity while she tries to hide and run away... until she finally gives up and asks the entity to reveal its real nature. And this was just the second time they performed the song live being the song's premiere on the previous night at the same stage and venue, the very prestigious and exclusive Nippon Budokan Tokyo. They were the youngest female acto to perform there. Su was just 16 back then while Yui and Moa were both 14. Until next time!
Thanks for the reaction man! I realised that i havent been listening to this song for a very long time. This specific rondo song must be listened to at least once a week:) Edit: Since your videos have a wierd sound, i need to listen to the "Rondo of Nightmre - With Mischief of Gods" again, properly sounding:)
Screw those people who tell you to stop, some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about. Aaanywayy....I think the videos are great as they are, so keep doing your thing. 😁
Good stuff - and live at last, so this is your first time hearing the Kami band - and Su-metal's live vocals. The Kami Band intro is their own for live shows only it is not part of the song and is not on the album - it is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). There can't be many 16 year olds who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su-metal did. I obviously don't need to tell you rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme (I think that was what you were saying). I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song not for the musical form but to illustrate or signify that Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This may be the darkest of their songs lyrically. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (think the equivalent of Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden - it is the place all Japanese artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there. They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021. This is one of 4 Su-metal solos, two on each of the first two albums. The others are 'Akatsuki', 'Amore' and 'No Rain, No Rainbow'. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those - Su would get a break when Yui and Moa performed one of their duets - they were called Black BABYMETAL for those and they also had two on each of the first two albums ('4 No Uta' or Song 4, 'Onedari Daisakusen', 'GJ' and 'Sis Anger').
The song is a rondo, but the form is A - B - C - bridge - D - B. It starts with an initial verse (A) rather than the repeated theme (B) of the chorus. BTW, the Oxford Dictionary of Music (3rd ed.) makes no stipulation that the repeated theme has to be the first one stated.
@@johnschultz7765 The refrain is what is repeated. B, C, D, are all episodes and are suppose to contrast it. When the song starts with the synth, it's a matter of the sound becoming fuller with the added instruments and remains in the same key until B.
@@allegorical While I agree the refrain (aka chorus) is repeated, it is not stated first and doesn't occur until nearly a minute into the song. Further, the refrain is only repeated once, not twice, and that repeat is at the end of the song. The lyrics sung to the refrain start with "Yura yura yurameku..." The other clue that this is indeed the chorus (aka refrain) is that its lyrics reference the title of the song "akumu no rondo ga ..." We know the opening verse is indeed a verse, and not part of the refrain, because it is not repeated.
@@johnschultz7765 The refrain has nothing to do with the chorus. It's not connected to the vocals at all. Rondos have to do with tonal structure, having a repeating theme with the same tonic key within the music itself. A refrain in a rondo is the theme set by the first A, and must repeat for it to be a rondo. It must begin a movement, or piece, and end a movement or piece. All you are describing is basic chorus-verse structure which has nothing to do with a rondo. Listen to the studio audio. The refrain starts with the synth at beginning of the song, it becomes fuller when the instruments kick in following the same theme. The same theme then repeats two additional times, the last being at the end of the song, as a rondo would. In between each are two completely different, yet contrasting episodes that have two subdivisions each.
Great insight into the structure of the song, I think it all purposely ties in to the story it is telling, someone who can't escape their cycle of depression and loses to it at the end of the song. The nightmare (edit: i.e. depression) itself is a rondo, and hearing all the details small and large that tie in to the theme of the song was brilliant: the cycles up front and descending at the end carried in the music is just amazing insight.
Look up the Kami band. They have one that should come up easy. The guys in this band are brutal ... They did a lot of things together and they even have a set of very amazing line up. Look up Kami Band and peek around at a huge thing alone. Search around : 仮BAND 11/30 Harmony X :
Don't listen to dissenters, you're doing great. I for one am really enjoying your BABYMETAL reactions. Learning new things about my favourite songs from an experienced musician like yourself is awesome.
I don't think this song is not thought technically in rondo format you say. Rondo is a classical waltz type dance which means basically have 3/4 timing and this song has that.
Great reaction and analysis. I believe the song is titled "Rondo of Nightmare " because it is about a never ending and repeating nightmare that she can't escape.🤘🦊🤘
The Rondo refers to the nightmare that is coming back to Su every night, I think. Excellent analysis again and you finally made it to a live version, congratulations! This is my favourite performance of the song, not only for the fantastic and outstanding Kami band intro, but also because of Su singing fearlessly on that small platform. It’s hard to imagine that this was only the second time this song was performed live and that Su was only 16 at the time. 🤘🦊🔥

Solid reaction and theory breakdown, thanks! But are you running audio through a phaser?
I kinda like your videos, I don't like the music quality, but I like the videos. I find it interesting how you're kinda teaching the music theory of the songs they're doing. That's a new spin. I've seen other reactors break down the music like you do, but I don't think I've ever seen them start breaking down the classical music theory and pointing out all the little intricacies the songs contain. Besides. If the person doesn't like your videos, then they don't have to watch your videos. They can just go somewhere else. So on behalf of the REST of us Babymetal fans, I'll apologize for the rudeness. No need for that sort of thing.
First of: thank you for the reaction, I really enjoyed it. Second: Why would people tell you to stop making videos? This was a reaction as I love them, you clearly know, what you're talking about, you pause to make your points and don't just talk over the music/video like so many others do and you obviously do have a great taste in music, as do I - seriously, though, you seem to respect the musicians you talk about. So, instead of telling you, that you suck - because who doesn't at some point? - I say, keep it up (and might I suggest Ninja Sex Party, a little less heavy, but very metal, maybe "Welcome To My Parent's House" by Ninja Sex Party) and if I don't like, I just don't watch it ;) Greetings from germany
The song is Rondo no Akuma. Akuma in anime is always translated as devils. It could be called A Devil's Rondo. But Devil is not correct. Akuma is a Japanese creature and has none of the theological baggage of devil. Nightmare is better. I would prefer Monster.
Puking rainbows is an old school meme that originated from an anime so the vomit wouldn't look gross to the viewers. Sometimes a rainbow is just a rainbow.

The form is actually A - B - C - bridge - D - B
or Verse1 - Chorus - Verse2 - Bridge - Verse3 - Chorus
And it is a non-traditional rondo in that the repeated theme (the chorus) is not stated first.

This specific rondo song must be listened to at least once a week:)
Edit: Since your videos have a wierd sound, i need to listen to the "Rondo of Nightmre - With Mischief of Gods" again, properly sounding:)
Dude, make more videos, you Rock !!!!
And more Babymetal please.
Thanks. I really appreciate it. Life can be tough, thanks for taking the time to say something nice. ❤️
BABY METAL🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
Screw those people who tell you to stop, some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about.
Aaanywayy....I think the videos are great as they are, so keep doing your thing. 😁
You do NOT suck! Keep it going my friend.
😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘👍
They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021.
No, the song is a rondo that follows A-B-A-C-A. If you want to know the details, it's in my own post.
This was fun. 🤘🦊🤘
🤘🦊🤘
In contrast to this one person telling you to stop making videos...
Please keep making more videos, especially from Babymetal 👍😄

🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
👍👍 try ASTERISM・DAWN next 🎻
They have band solo intros in several Babymetal songs, just keep up reacting to them.
TWICE put out a new MV for Hare Hare too.
- I say, keep it up (and might I suggest Ninja Sex Party, a little less heavy, but very metal, maybe "Welcome To My Parent's House" by Ninja Sex Party) and if I don't like, I just don't watch it ;)
Greetings from germany
Here's an idea: make MORE videos 😛
The song is Rondo no Akuma. Akuma in anime is always translated as devils. It could be called A Devil's Rondo. But Devil is not correct. Akuma is a Japanese creature and has none of the theological baggage of devil. Nightmare is better. I would prefer Monster.
hate what you're doing to the audio/video
Not sure if you know but TAEYONG had his solo debut with Shalala.
BAND-MAID
You got to fix the audio its borderline unbearable
Awful audio and annoying black lines.. not for me, sorry.. NEXT!
No matter how smart comments you are making, the sound quality / the sound filter and the random jumps make your reaction unbearable. Thumbs down.
Rainbow t-shirt huh? Does everyone have to virtue signal?
No thanks.
It’s cats vomiting rainbow you weirdo
Puking rainbows is an old school meme that originated from an anime so the vomit wouldn't look gross to the viewers. Sometimes a rainbow is just a rainbow.
Weirdo? 😆
And you choose to wear it on the first week of June when the real weirdos celebrate. Riiiight.
Good luck with your channel Sparky.
Weirdo and Sparky ride again😂
😄😉
Is the sound quality poor on purpose.
