My besties are introverted. They'll come over bc we made plans, but we'll cancel plans in the parking lot. There have been visits when they came over, we had lunch and a nap. That was it. Introverts need introverted friends!

I went to an event last weekend because I determined in myself that I will try to be more sociable. Folks were surprised when I walked in... because I usually say no.🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ I chatted with some people; ran a few jokes, etc... Did I leave early? Yes! Yes I did! What can I say... On a serious note, this was really validating to watch. This is where I’m at & where I’ve always been. I don’t get to do a lot with my peers, who wonder why I’m acting like a “granny” & don’t wanna get gussied up to clubs or brunch or whatever despite being 25. I’m comfortable at home lol. It makes finding friends hard, but knowing you have friends who accept that you’re just not a partying gal gives me hope.
Try Meetup and Eventbrite in your city. I found things to do with a small group a week. No drinking needed and another good thing; I don't have to go every week 😂.

And I can't be the designated driver, because if I find any "stuff" was brought into my vehicle, we tusslin. I won't wait for the heauxs to sober up either, it's happening. I don't have time to be around demon activities, to sully my squeaky clean and non existent criminal record, or to get caught up in drama. So they can keep not inviting me, I'm good.
I hear you...that's why NO ONE rides in my car...I have seen far to many episodes of the first 48 where the person was guilty because they drove someone and a crime was committed.
Same to all of that. I think one of my biggest (and what seems to be a reasonable fear) is someone bringing drama or substances that I have never done and will never do and messing my life up by associating with them.
Im the introvert who didn't know she was an introvert. I would get invited, I would go but I wasnt dancing and I wasnt socializing. I damn near didnt want to be there, but did🤔. Very confused. I was and felt out of place. My place was in the house. Thats were I was comfortable. Not the club and not around a group of people that I dont know, not comfortable around but am expected to socialize with that probably think Im weird cause im "quiet" but Im really just an observant Pisces🤷🏾♀️. That was in my 20s. In my 30s, I can now identify why I felt and feel those feelings. Im not boring. Im not stiff. I'm just NOT comfortable. Im not grumpy, its just been several hrs and my social battery is now depleted, I want to be out of my clothes in my own company breathing my own air. Im now the introvert that while im out, while my battery is charged, you would swear I was a total extrovert holding conversation with serveral people at once. Im the introvert that now knows being an introvert is not about where you spend your active time BUT where you refuel yourself. I now know im gonna need to mentally prepare for certain things. So Im no longer confused "I do like to be around people and go outside, but theres a limit and when that limit is up I want to re-energize by MYSELF". Those are my boundaries and I wont apologize for them.
Wow! I relate to what you said about being looked at weird by people because you’re too quiet for them. I got tired of hearing “omg you’re so quiet. Why aren’t you talking?” as a child/teenager. Now as an adult I love having the power of who I want to be around and when I want to socialize. If I’m in any social setting please believe Im too busy observing everything that the talkative folk would never notice! Kudos to the introverts that don’t need validation. Our silence is golden 😂😊

It was "well Im gonna go cause I dont want them to think Im boring. Cause thats my friend" when only 10% of me wanted to be there. Im so much more emotionally secure in my 30s. Im not going. I don't due any substances also, never felt I needed them. I prefer to be alone, simply because my idea of fun is the Museum. My mind also is on building things. I am constantly going over what I need to build in my backyard to add joy to my family and myself.
I am an introvert. My girlfriends like to travel. I don’t, not really….it’s too much work to get the right wardrobe and hair together, and then looking for tickets at a decent price in the season, you’re planning to go….it’s just too much to do. Oh, and ain’t nothin’ wrong with binging on Law and Order, any day of the week

Mine was 2 years ago. I was barely friends with any of them anyways. I wasn't interested in going either. Sadly I still live and work in the same town I grew up in (never could afford to move away), so by default, I'll see (and try to avoid) some of them anyways. I deleted FB about 11 years ago because I really could care less about what my old classmates, random former coworkers, and people I used to go to church with (and were never close to) are up to now. Lol.

Great to see you, EJ. My friends knew that if I came to an event, at some point I would be in the corner with a book. More than six people trying to interact with me at the same time is toooooo much. I also try not to be the designated driver because I can pull up when I want. My wardrobe is functional not stylish - I can rock cargo pants which for some reason is not party wear. My idea of a great evening is being on the couch with a big cup of tea in my jammies doing recipe research on Obama's intranets or splitting my time knitting, crocheting or painting.

There’s a man at work who finds a quiet place to sit by himself. I think its so adorable, because I understand. It also makes me happy to know a high-functioning, well-liked person wants peace and quiet even more than I do. His wife is outgoing and energetic. She goes out hiking and dancing, and he stays home.

As a fellow introvert, I feel you on the ensuing meltdown if home is nowhere in sight at 10pm. In fact, a meltdown a likely after three hours if I’m someplace I don’t want to be. 🤣
This is me all day (except the no drinking part). I’ve found a great way to compromise with the not going out thing; I tell them I’m good for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I’m a morning person but if it’s after 6pm, I better be in the house with my ugly clothes and no company. Brunch, breakfast or lunch is the perfect compromise because you don’t have to be overly dressed up for any of them and you still get to hang with your friends and you’re guaranteed some food. Don’t invite me to the club, but definitely invite me for breakfast the following day.
I don’t get invited to events much..so I learned to hang with myself. I enjoy my me time! I don’t have the wardrobe, the finances, and the patience for any of that! So its been solo dinners, concerts, and movies at home for me!-✌🏾

Great to see you, EJ. My friends knew that if I came to an event, at some point I would be in the corner with a book. More than six people trying to interact with me at the same time is toooooo much. I also try not to be the designated driver because I can pull up when I want. My wardrobe is functional not stylish - I can rock cargo pants which for some reason is not party wear. My idea of a great evening is being on the couch with a big cup of tea in my jammies doing recipe research on Obama's intranets or splitting my time knitting, crocheting or painting.

It also makes me happy to know a high-functioning, well-liked person wants peace and quiet even more than I do. His wife is outgoing and energetic. She goes out hiking and dancing, and he stays home.

This is me all day (except the no drinking part). I’ve found a great way to compromise with the not going out thing; I tell them I’m good for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I’m a morning person but if it’s after 6pm, I better be in the house with my ugly clothes and no company.
Brunch, breakfast or lunch is the perfect compromise because you don’t have to be overly dressed up for any of them and you still get to hang with your friends and you’re guaranteed some food.
Don’t invite me to the club, but definitely invite me for breakfast the following day.
