Veggie Pasties | Jamie Oliver's Meat-Free Meals

- The pastie, a classic British staple, and a delicious combination of crispy flaky pastry with a hearty juicy filling. This time, I'm going to try and show you how to swap out the usual meaty filling for a flavour-packed mushroom combo! Using an assortment of chanterelles, oyster mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and even a massive king oyster mushroom (use whatever you have to hand), you'll get a burst of different flavours and textures. Perfect filler for this gorgeous, golden pasty!

I made some but I used more yummy mushrooms than Jamie said in his recipie & I also switched the rosemary for some thyme ..
They were truly delicious .
That pastry is to die for 🥰.🙏..
Instead of Thyme use Summer Savory for a large flavor boost.
@@garywallenphd885 We don't really use it in the UK ..It also dies after 1 year in the garden. It being similar tasting to Thyme & Thyme being a hardy plant ,I don't see it's usage really catching on. I must admit it makes a great tasting stuffing ingredient though. My friend from Seattle made some to go with her Turkey . It was delicious. 😋
@@harmoniefaerielove Dies after one year? It’s an annual. The plant in my garden is 5 years old. I trim it back in the fall and it sprouts again in the spring.
@@garywallenphd885I am only going by what my Garden centre told me. I grow herbs in my garden & enjoyed it the only time I have tried it . Yes,they said it is an annual which means it dies after a year . A perennial lasts for several years. It may be your climate or maybe you have winter savoury which is a perennial ? ..
Anyway ,I really enjoyed my only ever taste of it ,but I doubt it will be used commonplace in the UK, is all that I was saying.

We do cook the same meal but filled with potato,onion and meat and some animal oil.It's just too tasty.Our food's name is somsa in Uzbekistan.

A query here, as I was watching Jamie squeeze the mushrooms. I was thinking that this could this be done beforehand, and the mushroom stock saved used a part of the water for the pastry?

This is agony watching this delicious pasty. Seven years ago l became sulphite intolerant and a year later fodmaps popped up including MUSHROOMS. Life without mushrooms bacon sausage all deli products and half the stuff on supermarket shelves that lives in a box or tin can. just about made my life miserable. So Jamie, lm asking you if you can come up with some delicious simple meals for folk like me you will remain my No 1 chef. 😊Trust me Jamie, life without bacon is not fun 🙁.

Vegetarian can consume dairy so it's okay. If you're vegan then you can switch to vegan butter or something like that.
