These people are speaking of their personal experience in the US. Specifically the Las Vegas area, which is a hot, dry desert climate. Their house is in a newly built master planned development, which is why the mail is handled differently than what most Americans have. The US is huge with a vast array of architectural styles, landscapes, lot sizes and amenities. This is a typical newly built subdivision in LV for an upper-middle class house. It may not be “average American house” but it is a fairly standard middle/upper middle class newly built house. It is in the $500,000.to $750,000. range in todays market where the medium price for a house in the US is $3-400,000. depending upon the location.

They were saying no door on the "on suite" bathrooms.
On suite means the bathroom is only reachable by passing first through the bedroom and not open to the hallway or main area of the house.

They also added LIDS/SIDS with is additional community taxes for police, fire etc., YES, you already pay for this but this is supposed to only include your area , this is more in Henderson area by the M casino, we opted to buy an older home on 1.13 acres , 1700 ft, well system and NO HOA

This is a basic middle class home. Most range from 1500 - 3000 sq feet of heated/cooled space with additional space for outdoor living, garages etc..I have lived in homes with en-suite bathrooms all my adult life, and I have never had one without a door. Maybe this is a regional thing??? My closet is in my bathroom and it has a door, as does the water closet (toilet room) in addition to a door to the bedroom.

If there is no door from the bedroom, the toilet would be in it's own small closet. Also, our mailbox is at the end of our driveway. Mail delivery can be different depending on where you live.

We do have doors to our bathrooms & showers (on suite) it depends on the design. Aso, if there isn't a door, the only person who is in your room is your spouse, so I guess it doesn't matter. In terms of the mail, it depends on where you live. My mailbox is in front of my house. Other people's the box is attached to their home. It just depends on where you live. People usually put carpet upstairs in the bedrooms. Some don't. This couple is speaking about where they live, it is different all over the USA.

Newer home developments in the US tend to have centralized mailboxes instead of a mailbox in front of each home. There’s a specific number mailbox assigned to each home and a common slot to put outgoing mail. Older homes will almost always have mailboxes in front.
For the heat, if a home has central heat, usually there is a furnace and ductwork throughout the house to blow warm air into each room at the same time. The same duct work can be used for air conditioning to blow cool air into each room.

  • @JIMBEARRI

In the US, an "en Suite" is called a "Master Bathroom". A separate door isn't actually needed because it is only connected to the Master Bedroom. If the Bedroom door is shut, you have privacy. There is at least one {sometimes two or more) other bathroom in the house for the other residents.

Theses people are in a community housing in Las Vegas. Where all the mail boxes are at the front gate before enter the neighborhood. Single neighborhoods have there mailboxes at the curb or on the house near their door or even like the UK on the door. UK housing looks the same. America house's are built to there climate and surroundings and you decide what or how you want your house to look like. Some States have certain restrictions. You can buy one already built or build it yourself. What would your dream home be like? Remember in America every home doesn't have to be the same design create your own design. If you could change the home your in how would it look?

In my youth my elementary school used radient heat, they were all along the windows in the classroom.
We all knew NOT to touch, the school had a boiler room in the basement, which heated the water, because steam rises
it would force the heated water above through the radiators.
The heater shown in the video are the ones sold to the public, & are filled with an oil rather than water.
Also the other benefits of the modern heaters is they have a temperature control, as well as a tip over protection.
These heaters work well in rooms that are about 200-250 square feet, with outside temperatures of about freezing or 32 degrees F.
Nothing beats a good old fashioned stone fireplace, can heat, can cook over, & even do some flame broiled smoking.
I love the older homes in the southeast because of the amazing fireplaces they used in most rooms, beautiful marble, or intricut
    wood carvings of the mantels.
These homes were built before televisions, & perhaps radios, so the fireplaces were the focal point of discussions, such as a sitting room,
    or even a home library.
    Spiritual desires to prosper.

80 year old here, living in the Washington DC area. After retiring I live in a small two bedroom/two bath condominium (1500 square feet) with a patio that opens directly to a government protected woodland. But for 20 years before that I lived in a three level 3200 square foot home, on an acre of property in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Four bedrooms, four baths, den/library, living room, kitchen, full basement (1800 square feet), two car garage (820 square feet). Oh, and I am single so it was all for me, I have always loved my personal space. When I bought that house it was $400,000.00. Unfortunately housing have become extremely expensive almost everywhere and that same type house is somewhere between 800,000.00 and one million.🙂

The pictures shown in this video; are upper-middle class homes. Most Americans do not live in such spacious houses.
Although most US houses have at least a "pantry-cupboard" rather than a walk-in pantry. En-suite bathrooms are
typically in a master-bedroom (for the parents) Not having a bathroom door saves space. Although some owners
have a sliding door installed between the bathroom and bedroom. Other bathrooms in the home have doors.
Older American homes often have the clothes washer and dryer in the kitchen because the original kitchens in these
homes were often built larger than the kitchens in homes built after WW2.
Older homes often have hardwood floors, and these are popular in the newer homes in northern states. Hard flooring
such as tiles are more popular in Florida and other warmer, wetter states and in places where there is desert or dry
conditions. Hardwood does not hold up well where sand is being tracked in or where there are moisture problems.

The en suite in the master bedroom sometimes have a door and sometimes don’t but they are inside the master bedroom so no one can see you taking a shower unless they come in the bathroom. The toilet usually has its own little separate room with a door inside the en suite if the en suite does t have a door. Also a half bath is a bathroom with only toilet and sink but no shower or bathtub. It’s usually downstairs and used by guests when they are visiting.
They live in a new planned community and some of those to make mail delivery faster group all the mailboxes together in one spot so you might have to go down the street to get it, but most homes in the US have a mailbox right out front.

A vast majority of American homes has a mailbox on a post at the edge of the road in front of their house. Some American homes in HOA controlled neighborhoods have a sort of mini post office at the entrance of the controlled neighborhood where you can both leave letters to be mailed and pick up your own mail.

I live in the US and my kitchen has what would be like a double wide closet with bifold doors on it and that's where the washer and dryer are kept. It's nice since our house is only 1 floor and so we don't have to go down to the basement to wash clothes. I rent my house and the washer and dryer are mine they aren't provided by the landlord. I will also add that I live smack dab in the middle of the US and the houses in my neighborhood are about 1,000 sqft or just under that. We have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. We do have a large walk in pantry that we use for storage not for food (it's not conveniently located near where the cooking is done). We also have a kitchen/dining combo but our living room is a separate room at the opposite end of the house. IMO my house has a weird layout. lol
Newer developments here in the US will have a bank of mailboxes on the sidewalk throughout the neighborhood and each home is assigned a box with a key. They also have package boxes and what they mail person will do is put your package in the package box and lock it and then take the key to that package box and put it in your mailbox. Sometimes you'll see this in apartment complexes too. However, in my neighborhood the mail person will walk to each house and deliver mail to your personal mailbox (which has a flag for the most part). In more rural areas the mailboxes can be along the road and the mail person will drive by and stop at each box and put your mail in your box.

14:40 the mail. It depends where you live. Apartments have the one big mailbox with little square cut outs, where the mail person puts you mail and you get it, you unlock the little box and grab your mail. If you have packages, big packages, some places leave it at the main office to the apartment building, or they deceiver it to your door. Stand alone houses, mostly have mail delivered right to your door, same with big packages. Some stand along houses use the same system as apartment building because they are secured by a fence (gated community).

The bathroom that are in Master bedroom, basically look at it like a husband and wife bedroom, biggest bedroom, walk in closet, private patio, and master bathroom. They don’t have doors to the bathroom because it’s inside your master bedroom. There are some that have doors, mostly those bathrooms that have everything out in the open. Toilet, sink, shower, tub. Now they make them where the toilet by itself is is behind a closed door. So if you don’t have a door separating your bathroom from your bedroom, you will find the toilet in a small room with a door.

A lot of this depends on where you live, closer to a city or more rural, how much land and space there is… also depends on when the house was built. Older homes often have only one or two bathrooms (by old I mean built in the 50s or 60s) newer than that they began adding more bathrooms, or if the house has been renovated. No door on the en suite bathroom is weird, I’ve never seen that personally. Of course this really goes back to the main theme about living in the US, variety… whatever you want, it’s available somewhere.

I think its also important to mention they live in and are talking about Las Vegas and that is a very unique area. The homes all over this country look different in different areas and the communities as well. I really don't think you'd want to live in "Sin City," but the southern states seem to be becoming areas where a lot of muslims are settling.
Nevada may be home to Las Vegas, but its also home to absolutely nothing else. Resources are sparse. That includes water, I think getting gas out there rises the costs and that's what's making the post office deliver their mail like that, not to mention it would just be too hot to take all day delivering. I've only ever seen that in a place like an apartment complex. Most US homes will have the standard mailbox with the red flag on the side. Also, if you didn't know, the red flag is to let the postal carrier know you have mail to be picked up even if there is none to be dropped off. That way, they won't just skip your box.

There are many homes that are smaller than this that usually were built in he 1940s and 50s. My home is only about 1500 sq ft and we have 2 bathrooms not 3-5. Not all master bathrooms are door free. It just depends. Ultimately, the home owner has the power. You can put a door on the master bath or not. Most places have their own mailboxes, But there are a few places like some new housing developments and apartment buildings that have a communal space with all mailboxes together.

So the mail thing they are talking about must be a Nevada thing or perhaps they live in a special complex where the mail is delivered to a central location within the complex. I think some gated communities have this type of set up. Typically though, if you have a house the mail is coming to your mailbox outside your door or yard. If you live in a condo or an apartment, your mail might be delivered to a centralized box, a concierge or a management office and you have to go and pick it up.

Garbage disposals can be rather annoying, keep in mind you can't put animal bones or other hard objects in it.
Also silverware or eating utensils can be annoying when you have to dig them out if they happen to fall in.
Inside the sink they do come with a topper to close it off, but accidents do happen.
Other things to consider is while it's being used you should run hot water down the drain to help keep it clear of grease.
Which brings up another point, without a grease trap of some sort, a disposal can lead to all sorts of problems with plumbing as well
such as unhealthy bacterial growth, causing unruly smells, it can even be the perfect environment for fly larva to hatch.
So maintenance is a key element to consider, (bleaching) while disposals help with having the immediate convenience of ridding the counter
of unused scraps, it's a tradeoff between it's functional benefits of the now, versus the maintenance later on.
We had a disposal once, I decided to remove it, because it was much easier to have vegitable scraps to be made into compost,
while other meat/bone scraps could be fed to stray animals, hey they have to eat also.
Ended up having a three foot wild albino possum, that used to make it's rounds for food scraps, I had a burn pile for shrubs
a distance away from the home, so he/she never came near the home, but knew where the goodies were.
We now have three super sized wild white rabbits that comb through the compost pile,
but I don't mind, they aren't messy, they eat then go on their way.
Animals in the wild here tend to grow rather large, probably because of the abundance of hearty meals?
Depends on the housing area, many subdivisions of a community will have a location in which mailboxes
are set up, much like a post office box rental.
Your mailbox has a lock on it, only the resident owner & the postoffice has keys that can open.
The postal carrier will open up the back panel then place everyones mail in each of the boxes, then close/lock the back panel.
This exists in many U.S. rural areas in which these home divisions are built sometime oddly in the middle of nowhere.
There still exists letter carriers that deliver mail to each individual home within city limits, or to a mailbox at the end of a persons driveway.
An HVAC is often a split unit that heats in milder climates using what's known as heat strips, as the fan blows over the heat strips it forces warmer air
through the ducts & out the vents.
When it becomes warmer temperatures, & the AC (air conditioning) is turned on, there's a reversing valve, in which takes the warmer air outside to the condensor
unit, which cools through the evaporator coils via freon.
It's most likely they have more than one heat/AC units in larger homes, so in the end every unit added will increase utility costs.
(I worked as an HVAC installer).
Some master suites will have a jacuzzi, I have a friend that bought a house, then built a four foot platform & installed a jacuzzi in their living room.
Of course he was always a tinkerer, thus not atypical for Americans, unless they are retired wealthy.

The half bath is only a toliet and a sink its usually where you send your guest so they don't use you & your family personal bathrooms. The bathroom door comment is not true some bathrooms don't but its not a popular concept. Their mailbox situation is also rare. I've always had a bread box shape with a front flap out on the edge of our front yard, when I lived in Ohio we had rectangle shape box where tou lifted the flap on top attached to the post of our front porch

Our home has a garbage disposal, but it is not used much. Here in Seattle, we put our food scraps in with our yard/garden waste to be picked up by the city. It then goes to a composting facility. The compost is used in public parks and sold at stores for use in our gardens.

Most American homes have doors on their bathrooms. I have friends and relatives all over the country and have never been in a home with bathrooms without doors. Also the mail delivery system where they live is also unusual for homes, it more normal for apartment/condo complexes. Flooring is a matter of choice, their is not specific flooring in American homes, it is a matter of taste and most homes have a combination of hard floors and rugs or carpet.

You lock the bedroom door but mine we added French doors but they’re glass they’re really just there so you don’t get cold. Normally older children know not to go in the parents room when they shower but a lot of times the entry to the bathroom is strategically at an angle so no one can see you in anyways and the toilet many times has its own room. It’s because it’s husbands and wives so it’s considered that’s the only person that will see you. If your spouse is shy you simply just don’t walk in when they’re showering.

    • @ChrisWootenNorthCarolina

Very few homes are without master bedroom bathroom doors. Yes most American Children know master bedroom is off limits unless you knock. Kids don’t just barge into parents private bedrooms. Maybe little toddlers do but they quickly learn to knock as they grow older. If you do not have bathroom door in master suite you just close your bedroom door.

I don't know what she is talking about no doors on the bathrooms. lol. Maybe in the house they have it's that way. But in general bathrooms have doors. Not all houses in the US have attached garages. We have a detached garage. Everything they are saying must be regional or just what the builders in their neighborhood did. Where did they say they are...Las Vegas. Older homes and rural homes in the US, your mail comes to your door or you have a mailbox out front. Newer neighborhoods generally have stations on each street with a bank of mailboxes. Yeah, I agree with her. Wall to wall carpet is gross.
