In the USA we generally pump our own gas...you don't need to know the capacity of the tank as the nozzles have an auto shut off to them and it stops filling when it is full. Some states it is illegal to pump your own gas, but very few are that way.

In smaller RV you can go down back roads and camp in nature. They call it boondocking. When boondocking you can find many free places to camp that is 0 $. That’s a more fun experience, more beautiful and more quiet too.

I have friends that live in a RV full time. They are a married couple and work as travelling workers. He is a X-Ray tech like me and his wife is a Registered Nurse. They always get their assignments together and use the RV as home. He has a motorcycle and she pulls that with their small truck. That way they can park the RV and don't have to move it until they are ready to move on to their next assignments. They have been doing this for nearly 20 years now (they are child-free).

See my Dears, the difference between an European or an American is; An American would not be reading on a vacation, we would be at the pool and chatting with people. Americans are very curious people so we would want to meet people from other areas. And, if we aren't extremely wealthy and don't have a large family or large group of family members going with us, then we'd rent a smaller RV.

The pumps have backpressure detection, when fuel reaches the nozzle they trip the pump off. She didn't appear to have the pump nozzle fully inserted into the tank, and to compound that it's a truck stop diesel pump which is a high flow setup since any given pump might be dispensing 100+ gallons per vehicle.
RV classes are just rough estimates of size and capability. Class A's are typically these bus-like fully custom made vehicles, Class C are smaller A types, sometimes units built onto the back of a chassis cab (a commercial vehicle with just the cabin and frame sold for other companies to build their own equipment on the back), and Class B are converted vans and such.
Technically... well, theoretically, her Odyssey is a Class B. Why does the scale go A-C-B? No idea, I didn't come up with it.

We used to have gas station attendants a long time ago, but all gas stations have gone to self service. The pumps all have a shut off valve and are supposed to stop pumping before the fuel spills, the one she used probably malfunctioned. Most of the warm southern states have year round camping. Only a few places have winter camping.

Most people with an RV, have a house and only use their RVs for traveling and vacations. Others rent one for a vacation, but some decide to buy a used school bus on the cheap cheap, and convert it into an RV on their own. I think she means the deposit, in which case you get most of it back once you return the rental in good, clean condition. Most state parks have hook ups for RVs and even grey water dump access (for the toilet and used water), so I'm not sure what she means. Newer RVs have a back up camera, guess hers does not. You should react to the families that actually live in converted buses and vans with their entire families, its crazy to me lol. Most gas pumps will click off then your tank is full, not sure how she did that.

The reason her fuel spilled is the automatic stop handle didn't work correctly. All gas, diesel and kerosene pumps in the USA have a special device in the nozzle that closes the valve when the fuel level reaches the end of the nozzle. All gas stations must have them by Law. Only privately owned fuel pumps like farms or construction companies are excluded.

The important thing to be considered in the United States is that licensing is based on gross weight of a vehicle.
It's not the size but the end weight that makes a difference in the licensing structure.
Rv's such as this are over all made of lightweight materials to keep it within the weight limitations of licensing.
So they tend to stay with a lighter weight of building materials.
Earlier models starting from around the 1950's or so the rv's and or trailers were made of aluminum and or fiberglass, the more recent
models use a polymer, which is a plastic on the over all outside structure.
The frame however remains metal, and there are safety requirements as well.
It's not unusual for these have a starting price of about quarter of a million dollars, or about $250 thousand dollars.
Most often in order to rent an RV a person must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid drivers license,
They must complete and give permission for the verification process which checks their background, driving history, and insurance risk.
Any criminal element discovered will result in denial of approval.
Since she is from Europe I am curious of how her driving record was perhaps so easily accessed from the states, although I do know the
United States have an extensive network of connections via multi-national agreements, but it appears to have been rather easy for her, considering
it was a spare of the moment thing, as her other rented vehicle (originally acting as a minimalist) had a breakdown and was at the mechanics shop.
Me think and feel renting is a better option, considering the price tag while knowing so many folks are suffering from things they need, it doesn't seem right to me
to full fill my want for something knowing others are suffering, thus instead of purchasing one, I consider renting as a much better option.
As the cost to rent an RV averages about $100.00 a day, meaning for the price of renting an RV versus purchasing one, one could rent an RV for
2,500 days, with no cost in maintenance, versus owning, which would have about a $945.00 monthly payment, excluding insurance.
To place a better perspective 2,500 days of renting equals to about 6.8 years.
When we had new tires last spring put on our Durango, a guy who owns an RV came to see if they could put a new tire on his RV, they said no, and he replied
unfortunately not a single tire store was willing to do the work, the biggest problem is insurance liability, RV's cost so much no one wants to accept
the potential liability, especially insurers. (This is why I'm an advocate for self insured, and or Insurance Unions, the later is an idea concept I developed
over the last 20 years, to develop far lower cost insurance across the industry, which would and should be less over capitalised as an over all industry,
since insurance in many instances are mandatory, thus capitalism should have less weight in a supposed free society.
Although there are quite a few RV sales dealers in the area, I think he wanted to avoid the speciality RV maintenance costs, they are most likely super expensive.
They probably cost triple to change out a tire than what the tire originally costs?
Rv owners who have experienced such a situation please reply in comments and enlighten us if possible.
Depending on the required tire size a single tire can cost starting at $286.99 Roadmaster (Walmart), to $3,041.22 Toyo (Dually Wheels).
Retired folks after their children have grown and moved on with having spouses and children, often opt to sell their primary home residence and buy an RV to go on the road,
to experience places they never could afford, or have time to visit their entire lives, most working for the better of 40 years.
I don't suppose it's not asking for too much to spend a few golden years travelling and experiencing iconic locations across the United States.
A large majority of folks live and die in a place never knowing they have never lived.
The names of the RV is the manufacturer of the RV, the frames, engine all of that are manufactured by well known vehicle manufacturers, a company will then
purchase those bre-built frames and engines etc, then build it into an actual RV.
It's like in the earlier models one could buy a vehicle and it may say General Motors, but upon opening the door, at the bottom door jam it would have an aluminum plate that
reads "Body by Fisher", (founded in 1908) although the Fisher body founded by the Fisher Brothers as a coachbuilder, was later quickly owned by GM, when GM
purchased 60% of the company in 1919, and the remaining 40% in 1926.
GM eventually dissolved their Fisher Body Division under a restructuring in 1984.
A little fact : A Bidet was invented in the 17th century by the French, ;) The word Bidet is French meaning pony, and in Old French bider means 'to trot",
as for one who "rides" or straddles a bidet much like a pony is ridden.
I know it's strange in how references can be made from interpretation.
Folks in the U.S. especially around the southern states, can be overly friendly to visitors, who are otherwise used to a different type of society.
Tuesday morning I went with the Mrs. to have a minor operation on her finger, so while I was waiting, I struck up conversations with a number of unknown folks,
that is until I opened my mouth, mind you I'm also a person that knows sometimes folks don't want to talk to anyone, family, friends and especially strangers,
so I do let them know that while I can appreciate the introvert of reflections, spiritually, etc. I can also appreciate the quality of being an extrovert, so I do often say
I recommend intraextaravertism for everyone, although cleverly saying there is no such word, but there are a first time for all things in creation, as as attitude
characterization is of an orientation, that must be self taught, learned in recognition.
Thus folks would be less stressed if they went against their reclusive self hindrances and just be truthful, if I'm yapping too much do let me know, I wont take offense.
U.S. is like that, never met a stranger, unless they indicate they would rather be estranged.
A daughter and her mother of which was there for a carpal Syndrome operation on her wrist, daughter was friendly enough, as well as the mother,
I then spoke to a couple originally from New Jersey, intellectual type folk, she was having some growth removed from inside her arm, he enjoyed reading,
but said our conversations was much more interesting than the book he had planned on reading while she was in op.
I then met a fellow who I discovered was originally from Alabama, of which told me jokingly his wife is a southernor, but from southern New York, he had a great sense of humor.
I replied, I was born in DC, since it's not a state, it's as neutral as the Mason/Dixon line.
Of which he clearly understood and replied, I've never considered that fact, but that is factually true.
He told me in his youth during Vietnam he was sent draft papers, of which he attempted not to show up, so he subtly exited Alabama, and went to New York, where he met his wife.
They eventually caught up with him, and was sent draft papers yet again for the army, so instead of reporting he went and joined the AirForce, in which he ended up spending
the next 35 years before retiring.
I replied you gamed them and you won, they would have had you most likely killed one way or another, or both in the body or in the spirit.
You made a choice in your free will, in which hopefully you are content with.
The remarkable end result was every single person I spoke with who either left, or joined their spouse, replied in kind, "I have enjoyed our conversation".
It made me smile, because it reminded me of the scene in "Home Alone", when Kevin goes into the church, & the elderly gentleman who is his neighbor of which
people tell all sorts of bad things about, walks up and they have an in depth conversation, in which was helpful to both.
That I suppose fortifies my belief in the benfits of being an extrovert, creating experiences in which one can later reflect upon as an introvert.
I apologize for this lengthy comment, hopefully it may benefit yourtube adventure, and success?
As always I enjoy your videos, comments, replies, and witnessing your reactions to various indifferences between societies, & their experiences, and often
    non experiences.
    Best successes..

They sell 2 bedroom RV’s some with 2 bathrooms so you could definitely live together. A lot of the furniture like the dining table becomes a bed. The table slides out and there are cushions you add to convert it. You can make it so the couch converts to a bed as well. She paid insurance like that because she was renting it it also could have been high because she was on an international license. You can buy these RV’s at almost any price point especially if you buy used. You can also buy a 5th wheel Camper which is just as much space and really nice except it attaches to a truck so someone has to get out of the camper to drive the truck so everyone can’t be together but they are substantially cheaper. At the 6:35 mark a fifth wheel passed her on the high way if you want to see how similar they are. I was looking to buy a 2 bedroom one and they were between $30k to $50K the ones I was looking at. Oh you can also get RV’s with one bedroom and one dorm room. The dorm room has several bunk beds sleeps up to 5 depending so kids can sleep.
It looks like with the gas when the panel stopped because it was full she squeezed at the same time and ended up restarting it. I really hope she cleaned that up or at least let the station know. Wouldn’t be very nice for the next person to get diesel all over their hands also.

Hey Guys, I thought to share a few insights about RVs in America. First, don't think that all Americans can afford RVs. New ones are very expensive, and often what you will see are retirees who have invested their whole lives purchase one as a kind of retirement gift to themselves so that in their retirement years they can travel the country and see the sights. It makes sense to purchase an RV in America because, as you know full well, we have every conceivable type of geography and environment here, so you can vacation everywhere and what better way to do it than in a house that's mobile with all the comforts of home?? So my point is that it makes sense if you have the $$$ and it's not just an extravagant/vain purchase. Second, RVs are like cars in the sense that their value depreciates rapidly, which means that a typical middle class family can purchase a much older and much more economical (i.e. cheaper) model and the family can then go on vacations with it. For instance, we recently purchased a full-sized camper that is like an RV except that you have to attach it to a truck. These are obviously much less expensive than a full RV. The cost to us was only $10,000. It doesn't have a lot of modern amenities but it has everything one could need even in 2024. This is why I do not mind people getting rich PROVIDED that they MERIT their incomes NOT by financially exploiting the public because those who merit their income buy new things when they are expensive and then the companies producing those things are able to make more but at a much cheaper per unit cost, and eventually, those items become financially accessible even to the common man like me who has a really nice camper for just $10k, easily within my reach.

There was a TV series from 1996-1999 called The Promise Land, that had a family that lived in an RV and they homeschooled their children as they travelled across America. It was a spin off of Touched By An Angel. Just mentioning this to let you know, you could actually have a family and live in an RV. Of course it would be a VERY CLOSE family. 😜

The green hose at the service station is for diesel not gasoline. It stops automatically when the tank is full. She was holding it half out so it spilled but that has never happened to me. It is very rare to have gas station attendants. Mostly you get it yourself, except in the State of New Jersey where I think they don't let you do it yourself.

35 gallons for 90 miles of driving comes out to 2.75 miles per gallon On a long distance drive you will be burning a lot of gas , roughly 10 times as much as in a car

This was fun to watch you react to. RVs are a great way to travel across the US due to its huge size and distance between places. I know of many people who go from one national park to another. Some are full time, at least for a few years, but most people use them like a cottage or vacation home for weekends or long trips. Like most things, the prices and costs depend greatly on the type of unit you purchase. Like a boat, RVs need to be constantly maintained, and there’s always something needing attention. The better ones level themselves, have awnings for outside protection under the sun and living area. They’re nice if you’re into that sort of thing. Had she set the nozzle from the diesel pump properly it would have shut itself off once the tank was full. I give her a lot of credit for giving it a go. They can be very intimidating to use.

Depending on the state, there are people who pump your gas for you. I know for a fact that NJ is one of them. I personally, pump my own gas, I would never do an RV thing. I would take my Jeep Wrangler from place to place and would stay in a decent hotel without the worry of a payment on a separate vehicle.

With the high insurance and fee in the RV park ($500+$160 for two days), it's more expensive 28:48 than a 4 star hotel !!!! If you owned it, it would be like buying a house and driving it around.

$400k seems high but I don't think a reasonable price would be too much less. maybe $250k? the reason is that it's a house on wheels. there's everything in there, shower kitchen full sized bed living room etc. etc.

    There are tons of places.you
Can spend the night for free?
Truck stops rest areas Walmart's a lot of other stores and places.
You can buy motor homes also a lot cheaper than this one.
I've seen her video before I like her a lot.
But unfortunately she doesn't realize. There's tons of motor homes and trailers all different. They're much cheaper still and more expensive. You're just depends on what you want. Do you use motor homes or self-contained meaning? You don't have to plug them in.
Or anything else, Until later if you want where they're available. Also almost all motor homes have backup cameras.
Where you look at a screen that shows behind you when you're backing up.
She may not have known this.

I got to tell you guys, this lady has rented the most ridiculous Recreational Vehicle "RV". This size RV is not something she should have rented especially she has never driven an RV...This would be a great size if you had 2 other families or couples to help in the cost. There are many sizes that would have been much more practical and this is not one of them...My parents had a 34' RV and it was perfect. It had the tip-outs as well and just that 6' made it much easier to park. Generally when out and about if you need to stop it is wise just to park in a Grocery store or the Walmart parking Lot. The RV she rented is probably a $450,000. Families generally have 25-30 trailer which disconnects from the vehicle....Would you drive with her? Not me! It would be a nightmare....You can rent smaller ones for around $150 per day, or you might get a better deal depending on how long you rent it.

I've seen ones that are small enough where it's basically put onto the back of an American pickup truck.
