    Great video! Very informative and helpful. I was debating whether to put this on the itinerary and after watching someone else’s video I dismissed it. Now after watching yours I defo want to go. I’ve not been back to Singapore for 15 years and the last time I went to the bird park it was called Jurong Bird Park and I got to hold beautiful macaws and was hoping for something similar this time around. Defo want to feed the lori’s and the African Grey. So thank you for sharing your video. Off to go check out the others as I’m still in research mode 😊

      Thanks!! If you liked the old bird park, the new one is 10x better. They took all the good parts and made more of it
      I have another video on SG zoo that is nearby so might be worth your while!

      @@dashingheights that’s good to hear. I’ve watched your zoo one too and see that you’ve recently uploaded the river one, which I’m also curious about. So will check that out soon 🙂

    I have been avoiding this video since I haven't been to this park at all, but today finally changed that day so I'll be giving this video a shot to see if this would work out for my 2nd trip. And I don't know enough about birds so I doubt I can correct you this time lol
    Again, amazing footage quality. I am genuinely in love with how beautiful the footage was
    I still find it funny how despite Bird Paradise being smaller than Jurong Bird Park, it's still the largest Bird Park around
    Putting this video on hold was probably a good idea to save myself from spoilers, the air-conditioned rooms to break the multiple sections apart was a big surprise and refresher, but this definitely would be a super handy tip for those who want a heads up
    From what I see for the Pelican feeding, I'd say I agree. I'd would've loved to be as close to the pelicans like in the zoo
    I missed out on the shows, but the Predators on Wings sounds super promising with getting to see the Sea Eagle and King Vulture. Looks like there's also show only species just like how Night Safari has animals like its Marbled Fox and Turkey Vulture here
    The bird playing with your camera stand was very much amusing. Slightly forgot to mention the very fancy waterfall by the Wetlands
    The Winged Sanctuary is definitely less fun being a non walkthrough, but with species as threatened like the Negros Bleeding Heart Pigeon, Philippine Eagle and Cockatoo, I'm sure they wouldn't want any people trying to potentially poison the birds, similarly to how guarded the Blue Spix's Macaw exhibit was when they were on loan. You can even see security cameras in a lot of these Aviaries.
    And somehow I'm surprised I do have a correction to note lol, the "Lesser Flamingos" are actually Greater Flamingos, or at least mixed in together. The Lessers have these black markings on their faces with beautiful red(?) eyes and the Greater Flamingos lack them, so while I'm sure you were right having Lessers on screen, I'd say it would've been best to call them "Greater and Lesser Flamingos" since I think both were on screen
    Overall I find this to be a very useful video, genuinely a lot of fun to watch once again. I'll definitely be trying to follow these tips the next time I visit this lovely park

    I'm glad I watched your video before going to Bird Paradise last Friday. The route you provided was very helpful! We spent almost 8 hours there, so it was money well-spent😁
    The first time we went to Penguin Cove (before noon), the penguins were not active, but luckily when we tried again at 3+pm, it was feeding time and they were swimming around!

    Great overview : ) I'm hoping to visit soon. Which lenses are you using in your video? Would a 70-200mm or 100-400mm on a full-frame camera be enough? Tom

    • @dashingheights
      @dashingheights  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you!!
      Most of the bird shots were from a 70-200 with 2x TC on a full-frame.
      But most of the birds are so near, 70-200 will be sufficient.
      If you're into closer shots, 100-400 will be fantastic.

    Nice video, has changed my perspective about Bird Paradise! Is it possible to do Bird Paradise and River Wonders in 1 day. We are planning to opt for the Multi Park Hopper ticket and decided to dedicate 2 days to Mandai. The second day would be SG zoo and Night Safari, do let me know your opinion. Additionally, Would you recommend carrying a 400mm lens or would 250mm suffice on a crop sensor camera. Thanks.

    • @dashingheights
      @dashingheights  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your kind words!!
      I just made an updated Mandai guide answering your exact question here: th-cam.com/video/z7_Rgzl1hDI/w-d-xo.html
      400mm will be better for Bird Paradise, but probably feels too long for capturing larger animals in SG Zoo - though will make for excellent portraits ;)
      However if your 400mm setup is very heavy compared to the 250mm, I recommend going lighter because you'll be walking alot. 250mm should be good enough.
      Most of the zoomed scene in this video are from Sony A7IV on 70-200+TC2x , in retrospect, the lens the OSS was huge. Without it, zoomed-freehand shots would not be as nice.

      The ticket covers for the shows at amphitheater. Only if you want to participate in the feeding experiences then you’ll need to pay. Personally i love watching people feed the birds, it’s like a free show!

    So is it possible to visit zoo and the bird paradise on the same day?
    How do you recommend we manage the time if yes.

    • @dashingheights
      @dashingheights  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, possible but with caveats.
      You can follow the same route like in this video, but skip all the shows/feeding so that you can walk through everything.
      By noon, take the bus to Mandai East where SG Zoo is at, IDEALLY still catch the sequence of feeding sessions in Wild Africa. Similarly might have to skip all the show and the rest of the feeding session.
      In short, you're gonna miss out alot of both of the zoos. Personally I won't recommend because it's also not as impactful to be glancing at each exhibit. Moreover you're paying 2 full ticket just to rush through the experience.
      If you only have 1 day and want to optimise fully, I recommend doing SG Zoo in the day then Night Safari in the evening. If you have another half day, come back for bird paradise.
      Have fun :)

      Should be able to finish by 2pm+ if you start from 9am and follow through
      Though I would recommend taking your time and walk slower & quieter to allow the birds to be comfortable around you, that way you may be able to see more :)
