Go to Walmart or fabric store to get thinner strap material...I think the one you used is too thick...

Also, some split rivets would work as well no riveter gun needed.

Why would you not remove the fabric carefully prior to installing the rivet? You should have installed the rivet from the outside, and then replaced the fabric. You cannot leave a metal rivet next to where the guitar will be rubbing. Good Grief!
