Merry Christmas and thanks for all the support! Hope you all enjoy the holidays!
The case I was sent for the guitar that I recently made was a touch too small. So I decided to make one. I forgot to mention that I didn't glue the foam down into the case but I will do when I've changed the clasps.

No joke when I first found pasks channel my mind was blown. The scrap wood challenge. I believe it was Marquette designs or maybe it was that tool box. I was like this dudes table saw is closer to a machinist milling machine. Most table saws are like eh who cares it's square. No my guy no. Your saw is hardly square or true. Just cause it's a DeWalt or you paid $500 for it, it's not really square. Not really. And it sort of doesn't matter but it actually does unless u want to get stuck messing around and hand planing for a millenia.
He seems to have learned from some old masters, the kind of techniques that make one appear like a wizard or alien to the common man😂

The author does like to from scratch, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

Thanks for the gifts of experience and technique. I don’t play a guitar. I don’t have or ever will have a guitar but as usual knew I would pick (see what I did there) up a valuable tip or two on woodworking. More like quite a few.! The tall, DIY feather board, the vertical reference fence and clamp holes in the tenon jig instead of t-tracks, the simple compass work to center and align the feet to the radius , balancing the case for handle placement, details of foam design and assembly in a presentation box, silicone on screw heads, etc. thanks for including all of those useful and universal aids. I always watch, even if I’m not remotely interested in the particular project, and always gain something from makers in these videos and you are the best.

A drum sander is an AMAZING thing to have. To be able to do a bunch of sanding WITH effective dust collection is such a huge help. When I made a high chair for me niece from white oak, all the pieces came off the saw and went thru the drum sander with 150 grit, then got an 8th” roudover at the router table, all with dust collection. THEN I sanded with a random orbit.

Hello Neil,
thank you for your great video!
You have golden hands, as people say in my neck of the woods. You excel in everything you touch.
But I don't want to imply that behind your masterworks there isn't a ton of time, sweat, effort, hard work, learning, experience and patience.
It is easy to dismiss or overlook hard work that goes into crafting and just saying "he is able to do all that because he is talented. And that's why I cannot do the same." But one of the most impactful values of your videos is showing the world just how much work, patience and attention to detail (maybe even unspoken fear of messing up) you give, to be able to produce these beautiful creations.
Thank you for that, because you show, that mastery is in reach, provided one is willing to put the work in.
Another year you have been teaching us that and more. Hats off to you.
Merry Christmas and happy and safe New Year to you and your loved ones, Neil. You're awesome! :o)

To reduce your tearout when you are trimming the parts using a flush trim bit in your router table. You should switch to using spiral flush trim router bits. Whiteside makes my favorite spiral flush trim bits. That case and guitar look great. Whoever wins it will definitely be happy with it.

Neil: thanks for another fascinating video. I just want to praise you for one particular thing - "...which I haven't used before." That you're not afraid to try new methods and products on things that matter, and not throwaway pieces, is really a gift to all of us. It helps lessen the fear of failure and mistakes - or rather, the fear of the consequences of failure and mistakes. It's much appreciated and something I truly admire.

Really cool guitar and case. Top notch. I would add a strip of wood down the inside lip of the handle side of the case. This will slip behind and support the opposite side of the case when it is carried by the handle.
Alternatively you could add another handle to the other side of the case.

Really beautiful work! I have been thinking about trying kerf bending, it's good to see a practical application like this.
If you make more cases, you might want to leave a compartment somewhere in the case for the extra little things like a strap, spare strings, picks, maybe a cable. Even for a work of art like this that is probably too nice to be gigging every night, it's nice to keep any spare parts or related accoutrement right in the case with the guitar.

Beautiful work as always, Neil. Just a thought, if you put a dowel in the edge trim between the ends of the handle, it will connect the top to the bottom when the case is closed, and prevent the bottom from bowing out of register with the top. Most guitar case manufacturers use a latch near the handle for this purpose.

...well, that was fantastic!...it looks amazing!!!...one suggestion for the next one (if there ever is a next one)...add a pocket, maybe with a flip cover, for a strap, picks and small tools...other than that, I have to admit it's the coolest case I've seen...👍

You’re obviously a skilled wood worker, but the thing that impressed me most was how you balanced the case to find the attach point for the handle so it would stay level when carried. Most people would probably have centered it for aesthetics, including me. 👍

A great addition to a beautiful guitar! Lots of great tips in here. My next project is a case for a bass I finished earlier this year, so this will come in very handy. Thanks for sharing!

Tip for you when using transfer tape that is too sticky: I lay it out on the granite counter tops in my kitchen, sticky side down, and then peel it off before covering the decal. Then just clean the counter with a little alcohol. Just makes the transfer tape a little less sticky.

I had never really thought about how much work goes into making a guitar case. No wonder they’re so expensive. And this is an amazing design for one, which I’d be afraid to actually use because I’d worry about the case itself getting banged up!

Another awesome project. I've also built a guitar case. I did it back around 1993 for my Gibson SG. I made it from one piece of 1/2' plywood. I used fabric to cover the outside because I could only afford the cheapest plywood. I also had to make using only a circular saw & some hand tools because I didn't/don't have a table saw. It is heavy as hell, but I get nothing but complements on it to this day. I'll see if I can take some photos to send you. Have a great Christmas & New Year.
