The problem with this is that they got a Warrant signed by a Judge to have the animals seized because some "concerned Citizens" said they were keeping wild animals in the house and not only that but one of the DEC Agents claimed she was bitten by one of them.

The biggest issue is the rest of the rescue animals on this farm will likely have to leave this sanctuary since Peanut's social media was paying for around half of the bills. Now the state might have actually harmed more than just a squirrel and a racoon, but the remaining hundreds of animals on that farm.

I had a buddy years ago who rescued a Couger. Its mother was shot and killed by assholes. He found it saved it from starving took it home and raised it. New Neighbors moved into the area and feared the cat. Remember he had this cat for years; it harmed nobody and even kids played with it. But New people in the area feared it and called Animal Control on him. He treated this Couger better than most their dogs and cats. People who knew about it knew it was safe. Yet they took it away. Otherwise, why do I need to vaccinate my cats, dogs, and horses against rabies? A bigger question for me is, why are there so many people out there just looking for things to complain about? Were these animals really causing a problem for them? It's not like they were being housed in the complainant's home or even on their property. Another question would be, why did the govt. have to destroy the animals. Is there no other solution? They could even release them back into the wild or give them to a petting zoo. Quarantine them long enough to determine they are not rabid and let them live. And this is coming from someone that hunts wild game every year when they are in season. Killing a wild animal for food is one thing. Killing a pet because someone complains about it is totally different.

I live in NY. I do landscaping. Maybe a month ago there was a buck in a field we mow. Was clearly hit by a vehicle because it's leg was broken. I called the DEC to come out. The animal needed to be dispatched, was clearly suffering. Just a few days ago we mowed the field again, the animal is still there!!!! I hate the govt right now

Squirrels are the ONLY wild animal hospitals don't require rabies shots for if you get bit b/c there's never been a case of a squirrel w/rabies. As someone who rescues squirrels & has a 4-year-old NR named Princess Willamina, we're completely disgusted & heartbroken for them & Peanut. Willa is my heart. I had a buddy years ago who rescued a Couger. Its mother was shot and killed by assholes. He found it saved it from starving took it home and raised it. New Neighbors moved into the area and feared the cat. Remember he had this cat for years; it harmed nobody and even kids played with it. But New people in the area feared it and called Animal Control on him. He treated this Couger better than most their dogs and cats. People who knew about it knew it was safe. Yet they took it away. Instead of killing it, it lived out the rest of its life in the zoo. This with the Squirrel and Racoon is So WRONG. Soooo WRONG!

"Potential housing of wildlife that could carry rabies"? I was always under the impression that ALL ANIMALS could get and carry rabies. Otherwise, why do I need to vaccinate my cats, dogs, and horses against rabies?
A bigger question for me is, why are there so many people out there just looking for things to complain about? Were these animals really causing a problem for them? It's not like they were being housed in the complainant's home or even on their property. Another question would be, why did the govt. have to destroy the animals. Is there no other solution? They could even release them back into the wild or give them to a petting zoo. Quarantine them long enough to determine they are not rabid and let them live. And this is coming from someone that hunts wild game every year when they are in season. Killing a wild animal for food is one thing. Killing a pet because someone complains about it is totally different.

I live in NY. I do landscaping. Maybe a month ago there was a buck in a field we mow. Was clearly hit by a vehicle because it's leg was broken. I called the DEC to come out. The animal needed to be dispatched, was clearly suffering. Just a few days ago we mowed the field again, the animal is still there!!!! I hate the govt right now

She put pressure on the State of NY to take the Squirrel and Racoon because you can not own native wildlife in NY without a permit. A wildlife permit was never obtained. They used that law to punish the owners for being REPUBLICAN. WELL GUESS WHAT......The assholes who were involved in this just made thousands of people into Republicans.
