The amount of people who are caring enough to save injured animals then release them back into the wild, only to have them either refuse to go or come back to visit, makes me a bit envious 😃. Thank goodness there's lots of people like this as these videos give me a lift when I get a bit down. But like you say, a wild animal choosing you as a friend would be awesome.

We found a baby squirrel after a storm & nursed it back to health. When he was big enough we decided to turn him loose. He made a home for himself in a tree next to our front porch & for two years, every time we would come out side he would run to us and crawl up onto her shoulders. He was so much fun he even used to play with our dog. Don’t know what finally happened to him, whether he found a mate or. Something, but he disappeared and will never know what happened to him.But I just know that he was a lovely little creature. ❤️

I have a little baby squirrel named Peanut myself, I didn't even know Peanut the squirrel existed until the day before yesterday what a horrible way to find out 😭😭.. like they are so sweet I don't understand how someone could willfully harm them 😢😢 .

If it wasn't enough that Squirrel daddy is super handsome, by his behaviour he is 100 % premium procreation and upbringing material, that's for sure. Every child would be lucky to have a father like him.
When I was a child in the 80s we rescued several squirrels and raised them to release. One in particular kept coming back to visit for several years. Great memories!!
Same experience. I rehabbed a baby squirrel when I was a teenager. That squirrel loved me to death. He would get excited and run around his cage when I came home. He would jump 10 feet across the room to my shoulder when I called his name. I found him at Pocahontas State Park in Virginia and I named him Poco. I would take him into the woods to free him, and he always ran back and scampered up to my shoulder. Finally when he was about a year old, I took him to the woods and he started playing with two wild squirrels. They played and chased each other into the tops of the trees. I ran to keep up with them. He seemed so excited. I eventually lost site of him and called for him for nearly an hour... and that was it. I cried on my walk home.
Ive rescued and rehabbed a lot of wild animalis over my life. Im sure it was a very long time and youve emotionally recovered now, i always liked to believe that once my animal leaves back into the wild, its still my baby. And when it eventually goes and has its own babies. Those are my babies too. My brood shall only grow in size till eventually every wild animal im the south east US will be descended from one i rescued.
The intent was not to make a pet but to save her life. She’s chosen to be with him in the world that he has made for her. Returning an animal to it’s natural habit is great, but when given its life back there is her safety and her natural love she has formed. Bravo to you for all your love and kindness. Once in a lifetime bond.
My brother took in an orphaned baby squirrel too. Same thing. She loved him. He did successfully integrate her & she kept coming back even after she successfully transitioned. It was to say hugs & peanut butter toast please. Eventually, she found a mate & had her own life- just like raising children
Right? It’s magical… and according to the instagram he set up for her, she still comes back, and she has had a litter of her own and is pregnant with her second! She is three years old this year. ^^
The amount of love this man has for such a small creature is astounding. The fact that he said "I can't believe she's real" really shows how much he truly loves her company alone. I never get tired of watching Dodo videos.
White folks really deserve recognition for there compassion for animals. Not all but for the most part. We wouldn't know a damn thing about animals. They track migrations of whales. They camp out in the woods for months studying various animals. You guys deserve some credit. Pls just accept the compliment without tail spinning into a we are all the same. Just like dogs we all have characteristics and we should recognize each other's strengths.

I raised a Raven this summer. She chose to stay around and is never caged. Free to leave anytime. I am so blessed to have her in my life. EDIT I started a TH-cam channel if interested!

I love it. I rescued a baby squirrel that fell out of the nest during a hurricane. I waited forever for momma to show up and she never did so I took him into my care. He was the greatest thing but like you said, they’re wild animals and I took him to my 3,000 acres my hunt club owns (nobody squirrel hunts there haha that’s why) and I let him go. I won’t lie…I’m a grown man but I cried. Every time I see a squirrel out there I always wonder if it’s him.

She’s a beautiful little baby. They are so fortunate to be loved by her. I have a lovely grey squirrel who comes to be fed daily. But she won’t take the peanut that’s already on the ground I have to greet her in an excited voice and hand her a peanut . Just love her.

Yea that's a great story but the first step is the animal's mother being killed or separated from it very soon after birth. This squirrel is attached to what it probably thinks is it's mother. If this happened a few weeks later that squirrel would've already learned to be afraid of humans and it wouldn't have gone down like this.
Why in the world would this saved Squirrel want to leave, it spent over a year training you. What an incredible world it would be if all animals and humans could live together like this.
Initially humans and animals were supposed to live together but then you had these humans who thought that hunting them was a sport and nature just lost its trust in us. The more we were getting that trust the more nature will trust us to be together again
There's usually a moment hormones and instinct take priority, which may still happen if she finds a mate. But there's a rather good chance that since there's trees right next to the house, she'll still opt to stick around. She was playing with another squirrel, so they seem to be at least used to humans too.
It takes this small little bundel to show the world how big your heart is. Animals are like babies in some way ...they know who they can trust and who have a loving heart. ....we thank the Squirrel for showing us how great a human you are...

People dont realize how truly amazing these little creatures are! Ive found that squirrels absolutely crave and love affection from people, of course Im talking about those who have been raised by humans. In every story Ive seen where a person has stepped in to raise a baby squirrel, they are so loving and just want to be with their people. They are so incredible, such smart, curious, affectionate little beings.
I can’t help but think what an amazing dad this young guy is going to make! So natural and effortless he shows his affection, sense of fun and love for another life.
That's what went through my mind too. He's a natural dad and he can't can't help it! Sadly, I can't stop suspecting that they aren't going to have kids of their own; I hope I'm wrong.

This little baby is imprinted. She is much safer now spending her life with them unless she goes into a sanctuary where she can spend her life. She would not have a long life in the wild that is for sure. She does not have the skills besides not being afraid of humans. Hope she has a good life❣ So incredibly sweet❣

It is so heartwarming when a wild animal voluntarily tames itself and chooses to live among people. This squirrel turned out to be an absolutely amazing pet. I hope he chooses to make his forever home right where he is.

So cute. My brother rescued a little squirrel and he definitely fell in love with her. She was ready to move on so they took her to a friend’s farm, hung her princess castle in a big tree and that is where she is now.

I did the same thing and took them after to a place that continued to rehab them..I had 2 cat's in my house and the office was not working after couple weeks..😜
I've raised several Squirrels over the years, some could go back to the wild, others were injured and couldn't then I had one, he just had no interest in being outside with the rest. They are amazing little creatures that is for sure.

This is sooo sweet. My husband rescued a baby squirrel about 10 days ago and now we are taking care of him (it's obviously a boy 😂). I had known nothing much about these amazing animals before. Your video is a great support. ❤
@@divinetiming8422 for two months or so, then he grew up and decided to move to the nearest forest, as we live in the country side. There are pretty many squirrels and natural food and water for them... It's comforting, but we do miss the fireworks ;)

I love it. I rescued a baby squirrel that fell out of the nest during a hurricane. I waited forever for momma to show up and she never did so I took him into my care. He was the greatest thing but like you said, they’re wild animals and I took him to my 3,000 acres my hunt club owns (nobody squirrel hunts there haha that’s why) and I let him go. I won’t lie…I’m a grown man but I cried. Every time I see a squirrel out there I always wonder if it’s him.

Yea that's a great story but the first step is the animal's mother being killed or separated from it very soon after birth. This squirrel is attached to what it probably thinks is it's mother. If this happened a few weeks later that squirrel would've already learned to be afraid of humans and it wouldn't have gone down like this.

In captivity they almost always live longer due to reduced dangers and stress so I’m sure it will live a long and beautiful one

People dont realize how truly amazing these little creatures are! Ive found that squirrels absolutely crave and love affection from people, of course Im talking about those who have been raised by humans. In every story Ive seen where a person has stepped in to raise a baby squirrel, they are so loving and just want to be with their people. They are so incredible, such smart, curious, affectionate little beings.
I can’t help but think what an amazing dad this young guy is going to make! So natural and effortless he shows his affection, sense of fun and love for another life.
That's what went through my mind too. He's a natural dad and he can't can't help it! Sadly, I can't stop suspecting that they aren't going to have kids of their own; I hope I'm wrong.

This little baby is imprinted. She is much safer now spending her life with them unless she goes into a sanctuary where she can spend her life. She would not have a long life in the wild that is for sure. She does not have the skills besides not being afraid of humans. Hope she has a good life❣ So incredibly sweet❣

I did the same thing and took them after to a place that continued to rehab them..I had 2 cat's in my house and the office was not working after couple weeks..😜
I've raised several Squirrels over the years, some could go back to the wild, others were injured and couldn't then I had one, he just had no interest in being outside with the rest. They are amazing little creatures that is for sure.

@@divinetiming8422 for two months or so, then he grew up and decided to move to the nearest forest, as we live in the country side. There are pretty many squirrels and natural food and water for them... It's comforting, but we do miss the fireworks ;)

@@mystic95 you’ve never been around wild predators. yes as humans cruel acts are done out of cruelty, but when the outcome is death by a predator in the wild or an aggressive human the loss of life is the same at least a human being can be reasoned with. Don’t count out your own species. Aren’t you or the person in this video proof that humans can be good?
@@pharaohavalon8566 Ironically, I find "reasoning' with wild animals far more easier than dealing with people. Animals are much more simple and open to understand. People have hidden motives and reasons for their cruelty you simply can not reason with. People are killing each other daily on the basis of homophobia, racism, religion, culture, misogynism, drugs, money etc. How do you reason with that? Wild predators are after food or trying to protect themselves or their offspring. That's simple. People will kill you because they find their actions simply justified or find enjoyment in it.
@@xenondoro8573 by the same logic, people can be stubborn in wanting to help or even sacrifice. Which is also foreign in the wild, at least to the human degree. So, what you are doing here is just picking one half of that human determination and stubborness that can be put to use for good, bad, or anything in between.
