The fact that a judge even signed the warrant speaks volumes about how illegally his operation was being run. The judge probably saw what I saw, gross negligence in regards to health and safety. "Health and safety" refers to the people frequenting the establishment as well as the animals, and all I saw was a bunch of pets. For Pete's sake, he doesn't even know the laws and regulations surrounding his non-profit. That alone is a HUGE red flag.
Same thing happened to me and I got charged. It cost me thousands, but I won because the state destroyed the animals before the court date. No evidence.

Due to a hurricane and this person being particularly good at evading detection, it took an entire cross agengcy team 30 days to get him.

The ridiculous thing about this is that he saved a small animal that would have died. If he had called animal control they would have said let nature take its course and let it die. But the man decides to save the squirrel the squirrel doesn't want to leave and it's well taken care of and loved. And you send eight agents to his home for 5 hours to take a squirrel and a raccoon? This is such a ridiculous expense and it is unnecessary and it's wrong.
The first 45 minutes was the paperwork and taking the two pets. The next 4 hours were righting him up for all the other violations they saw. He said it himself, he doesn't know the laws that dictate what he can and can't do.

I have a terrible feeling that he's not going to get his squirrel and raccoon back. They wouldn't survive in the wild because they've been raised in a home, so they were probably euthanised.😢 The thing that really infuriates me when I see stories like this is knowing that some miserable busybody phoned law enforcement about them. This guy having a squirrel and a raccoon as pets didn't affect their life in any way, but they had to butt in and ruin the lives of this man and his wife, and 2 animals. Why? A couple of decades ago in Texas just the same. A family had saved an abandoned baby peccary. He lived with them like a household pet, slept on the couch and everything. One day when he was already old and arthritic the wildlife authorities took him and threw him out to fend for himself. The poor creature had no idea how to survive and was old and decrepit, but they threw him out there alone anyway. I just cried when I read that!! What kind of logic is that? And even more, what kind of humane treatment is that supposed to represent? Shame!!

You gotta be a special kind of stupid to get police to come out to your animal rescue shelter like this. The fact that a judge even signed the warrant speaks volumes about how illegally his operation was being run. The judge probably saw what I saw, gross negligence in regards to health and safety. "Health and safety" refers to the people frequenting the establishment as well as the animals, and all I saw was a bunch of pets. For Pete's sake, he doesn't even know the laws and regulations surrounding his non-profit. That alone is a HUGE red flag.

The ridiculous thing about this is that he saved a small animal that would have died. If he had called animal control they would have said let nature take its course and let it die. But the man decides to save the squirrel the squirrel doesn't want to leave and it's well taken care of and loved. And you send eight agents to his home for 5 hours to take a squirrel and a raccoon? This is such a ridiculous expense and it is unnecessary and it's wrong.

The first 45 minutes was the paperwork and taking the two pets. The next 4 hours were righting him up for all the other violations they saw. He said it himself, he doesn't know the laws that dictate what he can and can't do.

The thing that really infuriates me when I see stories like this is knowing that some miserable busybody phoned law enforcement about them. This guy having a squirrel and a raccoon as pets didn't affect their life in any way, but they had to butt in and ruin the lives of this man and his wife, and 2 animals. Why? Does it make them feel better, do they get some sort of sick satisfaction knowing that they've upset 2 people, they probably don't even know, this much?
These are the same people that must sneak outside in the middle of the night eith a measuring tape, then call bylaw in the morning to report that their neighbour's trailer, that's parked in their driveway, is 2" longer than the law allows. There's no one out there actively looking for the people breaking these nitpicky bylaws...they only come out when someone is reported. Usually by the kind of people that make me hate people. Just mind your own business!!

A couple of decades ago in Texas just the same. A family had saved an abandoned baby peccary. He lived with them like a household pet, slept on the couch and everything. One day when he was already old and arthritic the wildlife authorities took him and threw him out to fend for himself. The poor creature had no idea how to survive and was old and decrepit, but they threw him out there alone anyway. I just cried when I read that!!

The judge's responsibility is to uphold the law, and that's what the judge did. Judges aren't allowed to let their personal feelings dictate which laws they uphold.
