Just a shout out ,I watched all your videos on said subject and going on your reviews purchased an edge 2 pro pre assembled off Amazon.
Previously used a Beelink Gs king x for afew years.
Honestly thank you so much ....The khadas is amazing I'm using mine from a power bank mobile data router ,wild camping to a 4 k monitor....the thing streams flawlessly and the picture, resolution is amazing.
Gaming is another level and the upscaling is awesome.
Took abit of time to set up as it's a pure form of Android 13 but honestly I'm well pleased.
Thanks again I've learnt so much from your videos etc.

The Edge2 is probably the most powerful chipset in my arsenal. It has so much potential for such a small SOC. I am glad you decided to purchase and I'm sure it will serve you well. I am glad my video was helpful.

It baffles me why there is Ever a USB 2.0 port on any modern technology, plus no lan port is Very Bad .. 🤔

There were some issues with keyboard/mouse dongles on some early USB 3 ports. I couldn't figure out why no remote, wireless mouse or keyboard would work on my second gen Nvidia Shield. It was my USB 3 hub. Apparently, they leaked RF and this interfered with wireless dongles. This made no sense to me but as soon as I got the dongles out of the USB 3 port, they worked.
Slow things deserve slow ports. And sometimes with wifi 6 lan isn't needed. Would have been nice though.
This us beyond awesome..I was looking into getting a raspberry pie to build my own..but the prices..and I see the prices are high in all areas..cant wait to see your final product.this is most promising...great one nick..😁😁😁👍👍👍
Pricey indeed, but the hardware delivers great performance for your money . I've never had a better experience on Android than what I experienced on this model. Thanks for watching as always
Enfim uma SBC q destroi o Shield em quase 2 vezes na potencia da CPU e 60% na GPU. Rockchip é incrivel, melhores chips do mercado é dela. RK3588 e RK3568.
Pelo menos se você está pagando esse preço tem que ser melhor que o escudo da Nvidia em termos de desempenho de hardware.
It is likely from all that we have seen from RK3588 devices so far that Android is where there is most overall benefit right now, in particular hardware accelerated video playback, which, as history shows us, is almost never going to generate the manufacturer drivers for open source use to enable that maximum GPU performance in Linux etc
Lack of Ethernet is a downer for me and no onboard support for NVME significantly decreases the value, especially at the prices being charged, even early bird.
The Rock 5B seems to combine the features and price that will likely attract the greatest interest, even though it is still a few weeks away from consumer sales. We will of course have to wait for reviews to assess its full value.
The Edge2 is another example of how the RK3588 is a quantum leap forward in terms of the Rockchip/AMLogic/Allwinner battles at there end of the market but the overall package of the Edge2 in comparison with its actual price means that I would not give it serious consideration.
The optional Edge2 Active Cooling Kit seems to be an almost required purchase, adding to the cost, but there is no mention of price of purchase availability.
Where this SOC can have another great opportunity to shine will be in tablets and and especially add to the burgeoning gaming handheld market options.

Indeed this is not official TV Box but an ARM computer. It has way more applications and uses.
I have mine on order. I'm getting the ARM PC version (the same as yours but with a case) and yeah the best box is the one you make yourself because I cannot see a box maker using this SOC for another year or so because of the price of the SOC. The only box maker to beat this would be Nvidia with a new Shield, but when they release a new version is unknown
The H96 Max v58 android box has the same chipset but unfortunately no-one has reviewed it yet? It's about £143 for the 8gb ram version.
@@nasirsaleem4016 That price is fishy. That's £100 less than the SBC in this video. Why that box has a RK3588 and not a RK3588S is odd, the S version would of made that box cheaper.
Mekotronics already released their RK3588 box back in March. Firefly also released RK3588 products. And Radxa has started shipping the pre-orders of the Rock 5B.

@@TBMartin I have tested several releases of Android and Linux on the Mekotronics R58X. They are working on UEFI support, opening the possibility of running mainline Linux.

Because it's an option if you are a TV Box enthusiast seeking for the best performance under Android. It's all about performance. Khadas don't care who wants their product they made sure to provide options for everyone hence the fancy cooling fan and case.

@@tvboxstop I guess youre right if you add a remote control and a launcher like Wolf or ATV. You can turn every android device in a tvbox when its equipped with HDMI. Any plans for a review of the Mekotronics R58X? I own one and featurewise its more suitable as a tvbox. It has more connections, like an ethernet port, Nvme M2, HDMI IN, Displayport, Sata and much more. And its passive cooled. Though it comes with a crappy remote that ive replaced with some other chinese brand.. And yes the performance is great, same scores as your tested Khadas. Surely the R58X deserves a spot in your ranking list, give it a try!

nVidia shield tv is a disaster - im speaking from a year experience perspective. It has limited acces to playstore, have tremendous problems with recognising external memory, doesn't have inbuilt web browser nor a file browser, bluetooth gamepads are lagging and glitching, every update gets things worse - overall its a source of endless frustration, doesn't work as intended. This why I am here, looking for a shield replacement.

I believe with the features it has definitely can, but unfortunately I don't have a NAS server or local network setup to test it for you

Yes those work just fine, Type C hubs with LAN ports also gives you 1000Mbps GB speeds on this board.

Cold start 20 sec. Hot start 24 sec.

I'll wait for more RK3588(S) boxes so the price would drop. Something $150 or less would be good for playing Genshin Impact or any other heavy Android games for cheap. Paired with 100" FHD projection it's an Android gaming heaven.
What I anticipate is that there will be boxes that use this chipset but will have poor cooling which will see them governing the CPU speed at 1.8 or 2.0 GHz. This may affect its performance unlike what you are seeing here from Khadas
@@tvboxstop as long as they provide easy opening, my Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and some copper thermal shims will be able to calm it down. The plastic enclosure might be a problem, though.
When you are a tech guy you can make things happen. You can run a whole TH-cam channel dedicated to stuff like that, but everything is so time-consuming these days.
is it STABLE during game or does it reboot often?
Reboot? Not a chance! This is by far the most powerful stable SOC I've tested and used to date and they provided firmware updates. There is no Android game that it cannot handle, and so far the only high-performance SOC that it's running on Android 13.
Bro can you please help me to make the right choice. I am looking for a sbc to play Android games on it, so what one would for me the best option? I want to play call of duty mobile and pubg and lot more games like that please help me out.
Without a doubt, the Khadas Edge2 Rockchip would be my choice for CPU/GPU power and 64-bit architecture. My second choice would be the Odroid N2+ on Amlogic.

Yes I just tried it You get to select the last graphics option past MAX which is MP only and it's beautiful. Really high quality and running smoothly. However the only issue I had was with the panda mouse pro keymapping app. It would not activate using Google play services I had to connect the board to my PC and activate it using the panda activating bat tool. After that everything works like clockwork.

Yes it is. The RK3588S is said to be a scaled-down version

Please try out super mario sunshine using Android and DOLPHIN MMJR emulator
OK so I tried all the emulators Dolphin, MMJR, and MMJR2. All versions crash every time I click the add folder button. There seem to be a compatibility issue with the firmware. I also updated the Edge2 to the latest Jan16th 64bit Android 12 release and they are still crashing.

No I did not. However, rest assured you can play it on the highest graphics settings within the throttling
$200 is too much, kit or no..There has been no increase in specs in 2 years due to the pandemic. Better off looking at lower end laptops or even mini (itc) not micro desktops if you want to be in the $200 range.
