Just when I thought have seen it all in Android TV boxes and what they have to offer, here comes the Ugoos X4Q Pro still finding something new to add to the boxes taken one step closer to being the most all-inclusive streaming device.
For longtime I was of the opinion that the only way you can get Google Widevine L1 with HDCP protection is with the Android TV version on a device does not rooted. Apparently in at this model you have Widevine level I along with a root switch so it comes not rooted out-of-the-box.
However in though it has the certification it does not come with a Netflix ESN certification and subscription services are limited to 720p which is still in my opinion a step closer to delivering what we want to consider to be the perfect TV Box.

Wow almost perfect! Ugoos is the best TV box manufacturer hands down. This the now the best model for 2022 with a few more unique features than the TOX3 and better benchmarks.

Yes it can play 4K 60hz HDR/Dolby vision/and AV1 videos see here:14:14 there is a video that I usually play during the surroundsound segment that has Dolby vision format but it was not played during this video but I'll show you it can play.

The Transpeed X4 is the better box because it has the same specs as the X4S with the exception of a GB LAN port that the X4S does not have.

Thanks for the review, the first english language X4Q pro review on YT! I have had the X4Q plus (4/64 GB) model for a month and it is good, but lacks several important features (like a dedicated power button instead of a reset hole) and a couple of improvements over the UT8 Pro (like seamless resolution changes). Yes, 128GB would have been nice, but not necessary, but an 8GB RAM model is more needed, as my box runs 2.5-3.5 GB frequently. Love the Ugoos Server App on my phone, easy to use as a music server to a screenless audio system, which is another reason you need a dedicated power button. The server app cannot wake the box on it's own.
Thanks Ivan you are correct I did however send the framerate switching issue to Ugoos and they will address that in a firmware update.
Hello sir. What does this ugoos server app do? I'm wondering if I can use a ugoos or tox TV box as a Nas server since they have samba server feature but I don't know how they perform in real usage scenarios. Should I leave the box always on for this matter? Like you said you can not turn the box on with the app.
Yes, the Samba server feature allows you to access its internal file system by granting a username and password to gain access. If you set HDMI CEC on, when you turn off your TV the box will also turn off, and vice versa when you turn on the TV the box will also turn on.
Are there really that many televisions released now days without some sort of Android, WebOS, Apple iOS, or Amazon software already baked in? I own two TVs that are old-school, Samsung and Insignia(perfect for those), but the other two my Sony Bravia and LG UHD are all set. Not against these at all as I said I own some older TVs so I augmented them with a MECOOL KM3 and HK1 BOX, but what are people using theirs for? Just old TVs? KODI? Apps?
There are many TVs running Android, web OS and so on, the issue with TVs is that they so restricted in what you can do on them compared to an Android TV Box and also they are heavily geared towards commercial content. So you can't get Kodi or sideload APKs easily
so here is a question. I know my x96 mini is no longer supported. I have been looking around and thinking the Google Chromecast/tv coul dbe for me. Was wondering if I could use my current media box as a dongle? Keep the ethernet plugged into it and then the usb cable to the google media streamer? Is the usb outlet able to do that or it's just tied into the box itself?
The USB port from the box is supposed to provide adequate power to the Chromecast however, the power adapter on the box must be working efficiently so that it can power port the box and the Chromecast plugged into it.
@@tvboxstop I ended up getting the Google Chromecast/tv and it's pretty fast in respects to my previous media box. Even using Kodi v20 with it. I find it pretty good even using my wi-fi. The remote that even though it's paired doesn't control the volume for my receiver. But that's a minor thing.

The Beelink GT King II has the more powerful hardware twice as much as the power from this box, however this box as a way more firmware features. So if I was selecting a box of based on what I can do with it I will select the X4Q Pro. But if I was only interested in hardware specs the GT King II would be the choice.

No streaming does not require any additional cooling. It's safe.
Hi Nick, a few housekeeping comments concerning info in your spreadsheet: 1) The link for the Ugoos X4Q Pro takes you to your VSeeBox review. 2) The price listed of $79.90 is actually for the X4Q Cube (2gb 16 gb). Not sure if the Cube has the same chipset and specs as the Pro, but certainly the RAM and storage are half of the Pro that you reviewed.

CoreELEC does not support navigation bar and status bar, that's on Android only.

Currently looking to update from my Tunix Tx6 box. Streamio with torrentio simply is unable to load properly. Too much lag. Have you tried streamio on the X4Q? Does it run smoothly?
Yes I tried and it works perfectly. You do have to remember however Internet speed is crucial with Stremio so depending on your speed choose a lower resolutions. Sometimes you lose no quality whatsoever with the lower resolutions. The stream faster and smoother because file size to stream them is much smaller.
Real-debrid is the way to go with Stremio.
i would like to ask u a question.....between 32 bit tv box like x4q pro & 64 bit tv box like ut8 pro...which one is your preference?? considering future-proof aspect....
First you have to understand that according to history none of these Chinese manufacturers provide updates to another operating system such as a recent Android operating system. So the issue of future-proofing is out of the question. The only models that provide that are Nvidia, Amazon Fire TV, and recently Xiaomi. If I had to choose I would choose the Ugoos AM8 which is coming up next. Ugoos is the only manufacturer that provides updates on the given operating system, and recently Homatics is also doing well where updates are concerned with their certified models.
Comparing to TOX3, is it so much different?
Considering the price difference, is it worth spending almost double the price?

How do you add the mouse pointer? And no Chromecast?
You can get the most pointer by connecting a wireless air-mouse controller that has that feature, or you can simply plug in any PC mouse and it will work. I didn't understand the 2nd part of your question where you said "And no Chromecast?"
Hi, I use the Skyshowtime app. It doesn't work on Tox3 box. Install but does not run. Also not even if I install over Ugoos atv11 mod. Do you think it worked on Ugoos? I don't understand why not, maybe android 11. Regards from Slovenija
If the app does not work on the TOX3, it will not work on this model also because it's the same firmware.

Flashing requires you to have the original stock firmware, your PC, a USB type-A to USB type-A cable, and the Amlogic burning tool. That's the advance method, you can however try to reset to factory default in the settings area under the option labeled About. Another way you can press and hold the reset button while plugging in the power cable. This will bring you to the recovery menu. Using the stock remote navigate up and down to the reset to factory default. The reset button is usually located inside the AV port. You can use a toothpick or a paperclip to press the button at the base.

I know my videos can be long and sometimes difficult to watch the whole video but at 14:31 I have its full segment demonstrating that this box has Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby surround, Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master audio, and a DTS X.
Excellent review as always. Great box 👍 Shame about the 2Ghz band though, doesn't bother me as always use ethernet at home but can be an issue when you take a box on your travels.

Yes that is correct. Same manufacturer then you have brands that place orders from the factory with custom circuit board, housing, and branding. They also have the option to place any other features request they need. So what you will have a boxes with similar firmware features. But the front thousand and branding.

Yes it can play Dolby TrueHD from external storage, and you can also copy a movie directly to its internal storage and run it from there

Hi, I own the X4 Pro which came with an IR remote, does any one know if I can use this remote to control the X4Q? Reason I am asking is that i have an 8 device IR remote which I program via the JP-1 connector to control 6 devices in my system. I am thinking of getting the X4Q and would be a real bummer if I could only control it via the bluetooth remote. Thank You.
The remote will work perfectly. I just connected the X4Q and took the IR remote from the AM6B-Plus and it works perfectly.

I just bought this today and am loving it.. But my mouse keeps moving downwards even when am holding the remote still... How can I stop this
Try unpairing the Bluetooth voice remote and connect a PC mouse to the box to troubleshoot it is an issue with the remote and the firmware. Or simply connect a PC mouse and see if the cursor is behaving the same. If it's not happening when you unpair the Bluetooth remote than a simple solution would be to use another more compatible Bluetooth remote with air-mouse feature.

You mean the direction pad buttons? I can't tell for sure sometimes it depends on what Air-mouse you are using, or maybe it's a bug from one of the updates. I will have to check it out.
How you get kodi version 21? I have only 19.3
Go to Kodi.tv, click on downloads, click on Android, look closely and you will see nightly builds, click on 32bit and 64bit depending on which box you have, then downloaded the first link.
as far as I know there is only Kodi v20 out. Although my android box is a couple of years old and the android version is no longer supported. I found it wouldn't accept the v20 update from the Kodi site. It was downloaded but my media box wouldn't accept the install. I ended up going through the Google Play Store and got updated with no issues that way. Most Kodi builds are now being made for v20.

Does it support split screen function ?
Sorry I forgot to check that during the video. What happens is that it pulls up the split screen function, but when you attempt to drag the window to the left or right nothing happens. I tried using the Bluetooth air-mouse, mouse and keyboard, direction pad, nothing happens.

Even if you somehow found it on Amazon it still has to be shipped from China through third-party agreement. So there is no workaround actually unless the manufacturer sent some boxes to the Amazon warehouse. Currently it's only available on Amazon and possibly some retail Chinese online stores.

Why can't you make an inline mapper like Panda Gamepad & Panda Mouse? To connect a mouse and keyboard and play like on a PC.Then it will be possible to play all the games from the play store on Ugoos, when now many games do not work, because. do not support gamepad.
I use the panda keymapping apps in all my videos. Both gamepad and most provisions.
How is this getting a 5-star rating WITHOUT being able to play streaming services in UHD (even with Widevine L1)? That's like 90% of the time people use the TV box. And the SoC, while quite capable, is not up to par with the A12 Bionic in the Apple TV 2022 or the RK3588 in some modern Android TV boxes. I'd give it maybe 3.5 stars.
Widevine level I and the ability to play subscription services in HD or 4K is not the only requirement to get five star rating. A TV Box user has way more things they look forward to when they purchase these models and top of the agenda is not Widevine level I if you know what I mean. It has the most unique features ever seen in a TV Box. Most certified models don't even come close to what this box has to offer because all they are focused on is delivering paid subscriptions in HD and 4K and that's about the strongest point.
The fact that they the first manufacturer in recent times to actually give you Widevine level I with HDCP on the mobile version of Android, is the reason they got that five star rating. And given the track record for consistently providing firmware updates to improve the box I believe they will eventually achieve HD and 4K for other services except Netflix because they are already indicated to me that they cannot get the ESN certification for this model.
Don't for a second assume the reason they got five star is due to their sponsorship, in fact it's quite the opposite. They are one of the manufacturers that actually send the boxes and ask for all the negative things about their boxes sent to them so that their tech support team can have a look at them.
By the way I appreciate your investigative commentary into the very heart of what I do on this channel, and it's these kinds of comments that adds credibility to what I do. Thank you! 👍

The news is that Google will no longer be supporting 32bit the devices from a particular version of Android going forward. Previous devices will still function at 32bit but will not be able to use the said version. Then what will eventually happen is that all 32bit hardware will be phased out as updated 64bit version of apps will not be compatible. How soon will this happen? I am not sure.

Almost ...but not quite there yet....another Con ...Prime at 720 ?.........Strange to not see Shield at top which it had for many years
The shield performance is in decline compared to new models and area mini-PC is because they are stuck at a 3GB 16GB while others are reached up to 8GB LPDDR4. So even though the Tegra X1 GPU still outperforms most its overall performance is affected by its limited RAM and internal storage.

Apps such as Orange Fox And TWRP that deal with firmware recovery cannot work on these Android boxes. People have been trying for years with no success.

This is not an android cert device, how did you install netflix?
Hi Robert I don't know how familiar you are with installing apps outside of Android via flash drives, but it's quite simple. You search for Netflix APK downloaded to your pen drive, open the pen drive using the boxe's file browser and install the app. Alternatively you can install two alternative app stores. The Aptoide app store or the APKpure app store, and opened his apps and search for Netflix and install it from there. This is what is called side loading. I'm telling you this in the event that you are new or have never done this before. But it's a quite common practice
@@tvboxstop but launching netflix from an alternative store does not run as it claims the app can not run on the Android version due to it not being certified. If we are talking about side loading then are we suggesting that these versions you are running are modified to avoid these validations

Why the new video has been deleted
The claim was that I am showing viewers how to view content that originally is meant to be paid for. I did no such thing during the video to which I sent a copy to other TH-cam creator friend of mines for them to look at it for the professional opinion, and they to could not find anything that violates TH-cam's community guidelines. So at this time I trying to work with the TH-cam community support team to get some clarification as to what they mean. 12 is coming I can assure you that, but I believe it will be on the Amlogic A311D2 octa core. There are certain chipsets that are tied into certain versions of Android. It's not like they don't want to put 12 it's what the hardware is compatible with.

No the version for this box Android 11 mobile version and there will not be an Android 12 update. Ugoos don't produce ATV firmware.
