As an ex-firefighter and someone who has crashed with only a cheap jacket, full face, jeans, and boots, the gore is very accurate, not under sold or over sold.
What a great video. There are so many riders that just don't understand this until they actually crash and suffer the consequences, only then do they change. Hopefully people getting into bikes will use this to understand how important the correct gear really is.
@logical9772 good on you man. Oh and another thing - good riders recognise other good riders by the gear they wear. Because the good riders that go hard asf and are skilled, know the dangers. When you see a dude with a t shirt and jeans, you know he's a spastic

I am a fairly new rider. Ive watched this video multiple times and have shared it with others. It reminds me to wear full gear even when its 90 degrees.
I came off a bike doing 110kph, wearing no leathers. As I was skidding across the gravel, a rock pierced my knee, entering under the kneecap and lodged itself in there. All the skin was also grinded off of the bridge of my left foot. I'd share pictures, but this comment will probably be reported for gore or something. I was in hospital for 2months and used crutches for 4months after that. Anyway, just be safe and wear leathers if you're going to climb on anything bigger than a Scooter.

I've once fallen and walked away from it without a scratch because of proper protection. Especially the knuckles on my glove showed that I could have been hurt to the bone.
A hundred years ago (Yeah, I'm OLD) I think there was a campaign to make sure the pillion was properly protected. My dusty memory is showing me a teen/twenty girl in mini skirt, very little top, low heeled shoes, full make up and hair done. Rider in full leathers and go fast gear only insisting she wear the helmet. There was a gap or a cut type break as she flies off the back. Advert resumed with girl face down on a hospital bed and medical staff cleaning the wounds covering her back, legs and arms. Flashes of stuff at the scene of accident - her shoe on the road, I think a bag too... some info on screen about how long the girl would take to heal, number of skin grafts she'd have, etc. Admonishing the rider for protecting his own skin, but not protecting hers. Never let anyone get on your bike without full protection type thing. Definitely would have been pre-2000, likely NSW. We really need shock tactic road safety advertising again. SA are using actual dash & helmet cam footage in their campaigns.
I have had that very same knee injury and trust me it is quiet scary. The skin had ripped off causing a flesh wound which took months to recover and I couldn't wear trousers for a long time. Extremely painful
I dont have all fingers on my left hand and when I tried to drive my sisters motorcycle i lost control driving at maybe 10km/h. Jeans and shirt got ripped, and i had some light road rash, which is wild considering I was barely moving forward. And Im sure helmet saved my life cuz as i fell my shoulder made my head snap to the side and hit concrete. I felt my eyes shake in my head. Wear gear.
I've sent this to my ex son in-law. He takes my granddaughter on the back of his electric bicycle and boasts how he got to 35mph with her on the back going down hill. He said it's safe. She has normal clothes, no coat and a cycle helmet. Where are the laws for electric bikes in the UK. Disgusting. Maybe this will show him. Please God. Thank you

I never ride without boots full lid leather jacket and proper strides hassle but well worth it I see so many riders in inappropriate gear ffs wise up! This add shoul go viral
I was on the Sunshine Coast in Australia recently and I saw so many people riding around on motorcycles and moped wearing only thongs/flip flops sneakers singlets and shorts and I the first thing that comes to my mind if the fall off is this video
I remember being the first 'on scene' when some dickhead, riding a GSXR1000, was showing off to a group of girls, he'd never met, came off at over 100 kp/h. He was wearing sports shorts and a singlet....and a thousand dollar helmet. I could see his bones and muscles everywhere. His patella's and scapula's ground flat. Why would I wear 'everything'? Because I promised my Ma....and i'm not a dickhead.
I wish I could show my brother this and have it actually resonate with him. Ultimately, I wished he would just give up riding. He's already laid his bike down 3 times in the year or so he's been riding the first two were pretty mild just really bad road rash on his knee but the last time a month or so ago he totaled his bike, woke up in the emergency room not remembering what happened, with his face gored up really good because he didn't strap his helmet in and bad road rash all over his hand/arm. And he just picked up a new motorcycle the other day. I love him, but I don't think he is smart enough to ride.
I didnt fall on a sportbike yet, but fall on a scooter a couple of times. And on scooter you have to have helmet and gloves and thats enough for protection, because when you fall on scooter you are not forced to go with him because your legs are not locked like on sport bikes, you just leap from it on your front or back, and most damaged parts in those falls are hands and head. For sportbike i would've add foot and ankles protection because of what shown in the video.
Tac should sell their ads to other governments their that good, thanks guys for helping to keep us Aussies safe on the roads by giving us the hard message.
When I first got my motorbike, the only gear I would wear was a helmet that was as old as me that was disintegrating and had a rotten visor, a giant hoodie, some tracksuit bottoms and filla trainers... (And some fingerless bike gloves). I ofcourse very quickly invested in all my own gear, but still wince at how I used to dress
I can be reckless and drive without top protection (in summer we have here +32*C and more). But just ONCE i accidentally locked the kneepads in tailbox and couldnt open it. 5 mins at 40 km/h from work to home felt like eternity running naked. Wear the gear, people. AT LEAST all below your waist, your legs are the part always making first contact.
It took me one stroll on Reddit to find a video of something like this to happen to someone and just a few minutes later I was surfing the web for full protection for when I ride my motorcycle. Let’s just say the protection was worth it and I only got a light scrape instead of painting the roads red.
Price isn't even a limiting factor. In my opinion most motorcycle gear is overpriced and not really necessary if you don't ride too fast. Besides a good helmet and gloves, I wear work shoes with steel tip and knee and elbow off-road protection over my regular clothes. It's really cheap, versatile, and saved my skin in a few low speed slides. I just say this because some people don't wear full gear because it's expensive or uncomfortable, but something light like I mentioned before is very easy to put on and off, relatively cheap, doesn't take up space, and you're better protected.
(birds tweeting) (engine revving) (wheels skidding) - [ Narrator] At this very moment, the rider is protected.
